Just went back and re watched this video. This is one of the first videos that I watched of yours that inspired me to start a UA-cam channel. Hard to think it all started for me with an old Samsung Note 4. Times they have changed. Lol. Thanks for the inspiration Travis. Also Cabin Lake was one of the First videos I shot.
Another superb trip. I'll have to remember that one. I will admit I got a bit of a scare when the banjo started up. Made me sort of clinch up, being in NW Montana and all. I thought you were off your nut about the whitetails thinking it was more muley country. But I rewound it a couple of times, and yep, whitetail way up there. Mo' on HF.
That’s a great trail. I live in Utah and love the Uintas! I’ve been up in that area of Montana just north in the Logan State Park area in July. Great mountain range!
If you've looked through our videos, you know that we love the Uintas too! The Cabinets are a pretty incredible range in their own right. In the next couple years I would like to hit this trail again. Thanks for watching!
Ok...some years have passed since this was filmed, but it was great watching it now - thanks! And your reply to one of the comments asking what kind of dog Timber is answered my curiosity, too. Part husky....I guess that explains the wider head and the bit of a neck ruff. What a GREAT dog....always look forward to seeing him in your videos. BUT....I have a question about that ruined (?) structure at the top of the hill at about min. 14:35 to 14:50. Would you share whatever you might know about it??
I actually don't know much about it. That was Mt Silcox and I believe that there used to be a fire lookout there. I took another trip here and did this same route a few years ago. Sadly most of the area in this video burned up.
This one is on the list for late August as long as the trip is a go 🤞🏻. Wanting to hike a couple days in glacier but not sure what will be available. The trails I had picked in glacier are closed for the year 😞 trying to research some good alternatives. Looks like it will mainly be west glacier.
No, getting lost is not something I worry about when I go out. The way I think about it is you assume certain risks when you're out there. Being lost is one of them, animals attacks and weather are others. I carry a map with me and usually have a pretty good idea about the layout of an area I am in before I go.

I'm not quite sure what you mean. You need a fishing license, I know there are no restrictions on what time you fish, but if you're talking about can you fish any time of year... I'm not sure about that.
No, I never worry about going alone. Honestly here in the Northwest, unless you go to really popular places, you won't see anyone else. On this trip, I only saw 2 people the whole trip and they were all picking huckleberries near the trailhead.
Enjoy the heck out of your video just got back from the Beartooth Mountains, would love the no type of dog you have, thinking about getting a backpacking dog.
do the beaten path... it was fantastic, probably not as difficult as your hike if you start at Cooke city... if you start at east rosebud trailhead its a real challenge... you can see there is a huge difference in elevation depending which way you go whether it is more ascending or descending...
It was so fun watching this! I’m glad we have both this video and the new one. It will be interesting to go back after the fire.
In a few years I'm sure that we'll venture back in there. Already looking forward to it!

I'm so glad to hear that! I've loved getting to know you over the last couple years. Looking forward to hitting the together this year!
Simply magnificent ....... Many thanks to you for this absolute beauty .......
This is was definitely a highlight for me. I'm looking forward to getting back there in the coming years.
Another epic video. What a hike and some climbing there. Beautiful, beautiful country. Music was great too. Take care, Al
Thanks! Glad you like the music. I go back and forth on it, but its all original.

Haha! You do have to watch out for the banjos! Sadly, those couple whitetails were the only wildlife I saw the whole trip.
Great trip! Beautiful loop hike. Nice work as usual!
Thanks! Spoiler alert (I get back up into those mountains again, a little further north. Video out soon :)

Another absolutely beautiful place. It sure does make me miss summer though. I missed out on the North American mountains this year.
Indeed, they are beautiful. I'm already studying the maps and getting my trips lined up for next year! Thanks for watching!
Good video, and recommendation by Joey C. Stunning scenery, the US is best overall in the entire world IMHO. Thanks 👍
Welcome! Tell that old man hello from me! I love the Rocky Mountains! I hear Canada is exceptional... in fact, Joey was telling me about.
@@mountainwanderer , much enjoyed your video. Have you checked out Marty Up North for Canada vids?
I used to watch him a lot, not so much anymore.
My husband and I are rewatching Joey videos. We miss him. Any news to share would be appreciated.
Another amazing adventure
Thanks, Caveman! Looking forward to your next video!
Nice. I'll check it out. Thanks man!
Definitely worth it!

This is a great hike! I'm even thinking about hitting this one again this year.
Where did you find a map with these trails?
I use caltopo.com to put together my routes.
do you never worry about getting lost? what is the plan if u do?

Is it legal to go fishing at any time?

That is a cracking video, mate! Don't you have afraid of to do it alone? I mean, about bad people walking around?
Nice song, though!
No, I never worry about going alone. Honestly here in the Northwest, unless you go to really popular places, you won't see anyone else. On this trip, I only saw 2 people the whole trip and they were all picking huckleberries near the trailhead.
Do you carry a gun or a bear spray in case of wild animals?
I personally don't carry either, but I will be adding near spray next year.
Found some Montana maps ..Big Sky Grizzly Outfitters!!
Bob Alberta
Fantastic, you're set!

How can you avoid wolves, grizzlies, cougars, and moose
Make some noise and they will avoid you.

The Beartooths are on my wish list! My dog Timber is a Husky / German Shepard mix.
