This is our stove of the year for 2023! I hope you've enjoyed the year as much as us, and if you have any questions or suggestions, just drop us a comment!
After following your reviews all year, I'd choose the Clock Blithfield. It absolutely nails all the basics. It's also built like a tank, and aesthetically treads the line between a modern and traditional look perfectly, meaning it'd suit any room, anywhere. I also admire it's simple, back-to-basics design mantra, evident in the door hinge and handle designs. When I eventually replace my stove, the Clock Blithfield is currently at the top of my list.
Glad I bought the Blithfield 5 just over a year ago, before seeing your review. Burning beautifully hot and slow with a full ashpan plus a thick layer of ash on the grate. Aiming to get it even slower and learning every day...
Never owning a wood burner or stove and looking at your videos over the last few months has been very entertaining and enjoyable, personally the best one I’ve seen on this channel has been the jotul 602 probably because it offers things such as being able to also cook on top of the stove but the build quality for me at least seemed to stand out, maybe 2024 will be the year I buy a stove , want to thank you for your reply’s to my long and tireless questions but with whiskey in hand has helped you through, thank you for being you and enjoy Christmas only if you want too. Take care.
Delighted it was the winner! I want to thank you both for your recommendation of the Clock Blithfield 5. I got one in the blue colour and can honestly say it is absolutely stunning with the chrome handle and air controls. I was initially looking at the Clearview Pioneer 4 and a Charnwood Canmore but the Clock really stood out for me and with your review it was a no brainer. We are so happy, It's heating the whole house with help from your stove fan and kiln dried Hornbeam! the air intakes are genius and are beautifully engineered, It's almost a shame they are at the back and can't be seen! Have a wonderful Christmas and hope you enjoy the holidays! All the best, Adrian
We have the Clock Sudbury and I love it! I love everything about it and it really is economical to use. Love your video's and your enthusiasm for setting fire to some wood!!
Thank you so much for your videos. My family love watching your unbiased reviews. We are having our Clock Blithfield 5 fitted up here in the Scottish Highlands on the 5th February and we are so excited. Local dealers tried to recommend several others but eventually I found one willing to order it from England. Slàinte Mhath
That’s fantastic, glad you’re excited! This’ll be a very good day, and a great choice too. Given where you are the level of utility this stove gives will be a lot of fun to own. Let us know how you get on!
Merry Christmas to you both, I've enjoyed all the reviews and help videos you post which are very informative and unbiased reviews plus the orders from the shop have been brilliant the dustpan and brush is a daily winner for removing Ash and cleaning the hearth afterwards 🔥
Hi Both.. fantastic channel... best channel by far for stoves.. putting you on the spot lol.. out of three stoves (budget ones) Woodford pankhurst, the ecosy 500 wide and pennman bassington.. which one was best in you expert opinion ... i have a thought which one tops the list after watching your channel.. but will be very interested on what you both think..Thanks once again...by the congratulations on the baby on the way.
These are quite different stoves. The Pankhurst was a real gem, impossibly economical to buy and run, and very nicely finished. The Vista was far more exciting aesthetically, but could still go toe to toe with the Pankhurst on function. The Bassington was quite different, it’s multi-fuel which will suit users of other fuels, but is less focused on purely wood, so is potentially not as good as the other 2. On the other hand the Bassington’s flexibility with fuel may actually make it the best by far, depending on you. Hope that helps, sort of.
Really enjoyed watching your brilliant reviews. The clock are a Brilliant stove, we looked closely but in the end went for the Dundsley Avance 400 with log store , 2 reasons. We found the handle is much easier to use and we wanted slim corner fit and wood only, its a brilliant piece of kit. Any reason plans to reviewed Dunsley stoves ?
I’d hope to get there. Although, my general experience of the company is they seem fairly unhelpful. I generally ring a few times and try to get a feel for a company, ask a few consumer questions. Sadly Dunsley and ACR have been the worst companies I’ve ever spoken to, by a mile.
Tricky one for you… the clock or the ClearView pioneer 400 from last year 😀will be pushing the button in the new year so your opinion counts…. Thanks and merry xmas
Definitely a tricky one. The Clock is by a mile the more competent and efficient, but the Clearview still has its own charm. The tricky thing is it’s like comparing an old Range Rover with a brand new Porsche 4x4. They should really be compared really because they’re from totally different times.
You would have to pick a stove that would be your only Heat, presently we have three stoves in our house, two we can eat with wood or coal and one only wood, that set up we can keep the house from freezing for almost a week.
You need a stove that will burn for at least 3 days without tending to it, there was a stove made years ago call the Americana Unfortunately they don't make them any longer, we lived in northern Arizona and that was our only heat Source in the whole house.
Guys, thank you so much for all you do, the entertainment and the education, it’s been an awesome journey this year and I bought my first ever stove on your recommendation! Thank you so much and Merry Christmas guys, you are a top couple although your judgment is off!!!! Hampton 5XL!!!!! 😂 Merry Christmas and kind regards Tony
There's no way the government could ban wood burners. There are soo many people who don't have gas and an air source heat pump is not an option either due to the sheer amount of insulation you need. Farm houses would really struggle and it would cost an absolute fortune. The only thing they could do is to make the rules on selling stoves stricter, maybe all stoves have to hit clear skies level 5 or some such
Baby steps. They are making it harder and harder for manufacturers to reach these new regulations and EPA standards. It costs a lot of money for R&D as well as testing.
Thanks for such wonderful reviews, I love the banter and humour of your videos. Have a wonderful Christmas and let’s hope 2024 is another wonderful year.

You’ll definitely get there!
Thank you so much for the information and the added entertainment 👍 Keep on being an awesome couple ☺️

Bought a Clock earlier this year on your recommendation. Delighted with it!
Well done to you both, and thank you. Here's to a great 2024!
Highly enjoyed this and I was hoping the Blithfield took the win. There should be more year end reviews with wine!
The clock is the next one for me, glad to hear it takes the win.

Awesome video. I've used wood heat most of my life and I'm 70 years old, ever since I was a child
Right on. Thanks for the message!

need to do a review on the Charnwood Skye 5 multi fuel stove

Definitely a plus if you can cook on them we do ours, chili soup beans stew
How much wood does it burn how much heat does it give off how long does it burn how efficient is it

Has to be easy to clean, and like I say it has to burn for at least 3 days it has to hold large pieces of wood, and have an automatic damper.
Is it too late to add the clock to my Santa list?
Hi guys ..are you using a 5 or 6” Flexiflue with the clock please cheers
We play around with the chimneys quite a lot, but I believe at the time it was a 5” flue in that chimney.
There used to be another brand of stove called the Alaskan they had several different models
Sometimes you need some ash to slow the burn, every stove is different there's a learning curve.
You need a stove that will burn for at least 3 days without tending to it, there was a stove made years ago call the Americana Unfortunately they don't make them any longer, we lived in northern Arizona and that was our only heat Source in the whole house.
That sounds amazing! 😆

Thanks everyone ..getting the clock 5 woohoo 😀👍

Has anyone see the article that ran in the times today about wood burners?
?

Don’t buy a ekol clarity especially the five it’s rubbish
bla bla bla .Get to the stove review already
You could just use your finger(just take it out of your arse first)and slide the video along. Or is that too much for you?
