Watched this and Nijinsky and Oh so Sharp stood out to me as two of the greats. The race seemed to have more kudos then. It's getting back to that but it deserves to be up there with the days of Vincent O'Brien and Lester and Henry Cecil Steve Cauthen. Our sport needs to cherish the history of our great races.
The oldest classic, and the oldest race on the Friday (Doncaster cup), makes this meeting great. I remember when you couldn't move in Donny on Friday and Saturday, and the town was always busy during race week.
Northern Dancer sired many great champion horses but my opinion is Nijinsky was the greatest of them all . All most all these great horses come from the bloodline of the greatest sire of the 20th century that great little Canadian bred horse Northern Dancer
@@robertdelacy3434 Robert I think Tina is paying Mick a compliment. She posts a lot and is knowledable on all racing. U didn't think I praised Nijinsky enough u were right. Hope u approve now. Enjoy your racing Tina is right Mick looks great
The 1965 Arc was the strongest ever assembled for sure & the way Sea Bird won was such ease, did it even more impressive in the Derby. He was a freak in a good way of course & a outstanding CHAMPION. Is Frankel 2lb better & even 8lb better than the great Dancing Brave ? I'm not so sure, Frankel has his rating 147 & the Queen Anne win was his most outstanding win against his big rival ( Excelebration) who he beat 3 times by bigger margins. I think timeform have slightly overrated there.
Has any horse of both sexes, won at Newmarket in May, Epsom In June, Sandown ,Ascot and York Of course in June ,July And August, when they meet the older horses. Then go to Doncaster for the Worlds oldest classic? I doubt it. Never going to happen, We,ve seen some good cup horse's win The Leger.
It doesn't really come over in the films but rest assured Nijinsky was a monster - never flashy but a real beast !!
Nijinsky, still my favourite racehorse of all time
Among the all Nijinsky is something special. One of the greatest horse ever run in England.Perhaps the last triple Crown winner in England.
Oh So Sharp won the fillies version in 85.

Had a friend who had a foal of Oh So Sharp, called Razor Sharp in training with Jenny Pitman.

I was always puzzled as to why Silver Patriarch was never stepped upto 2m+.
I know. He was a classy stayer. Had gold cup written all over him
At 50, Mick Fitz could take out a flat licence and ride in the race! He's kept the weight off and still rides. Or will he ride in the Legends race?
Why do you think he retired the docs said one more fall he would be paralyzed

@@suemaher5282 shes not she thought a horse that runs on flat can run in a bumper
@@robertdelacy3434 probably tongue in cheek. Most people who love racing know Mick was injured too bad to risk getting on a horse again.
Just read it again and maybe she didn't know. The only way he would be participating in the Legends race would be as a commentator
Can we have subtitles please, can’t understand the Irish fella

Logician, fastest time for the race, not touched with the whip.
Yes he was touched with it...
Niall Scott yes, you’re quite right, just once?
