  • A Russian combined arms company attacks a Ukrainian checkpoint in new Steam version of Combat Mission Black Sea! This is the Gargarina Avenue Checkpoint scenario, which is set in a real location at 49.888N 36.29E.
    Mods wise, its the usual mix of Vinnart's Unit Icons, Waclaw's HQS Sound Mod and Veins effects.
    Combat Mission is a game developed by Battlefront.com. One of the most realistic tactical simulations ever made, Combat Mission covers a wide variety of military settings, from World War 2 (Normandy, Market Garden, Sicily, Italy and the Eastern Front) to fictional modern conflicts in Syria (Shock Force) and Ukraine (Black Sea).
    You can find out more about Combat Mission by visiting www.battlefront.com and especially the forums.
    Conceived and written before the real conflict began in 2014, Combat Mission: Black Sea is a military simulation depicting a fictional 2017 conflict between NATO and Russia in Ukraine. Command American, Ukrainian, or Russian ground forces in the increasingly sophisticated and deadly environment that is modern combined arms warfare.
    Black Sea is on Steam here: store.steampowered.com/app/15...

    This scenario is not hypothetical anymore

      @milehighkush Рік тому +71

      "It is important to note that the storyline for Black Sea was first developed in 2009 and production started in 2013. In early 2014 Russia invaded Ukraine, making our story much less hypothetical. As a direct result we slightly modified the story's timeline to minimize contradictions with real life events. However, we deliberately made no attempt to portray an ongoing, undecided conflict. This means Black Sea is not equipped to simulate the "frozen conflict" that has since evolved in eastern Ukraine." And in February 2022, again, Russia invaded Ukraine. ~Statement from the devs
      This become a historical game before it even released.

      According to who exactly, lol. Ukraine never stated how many troops Russia lost in Mariupol, and even if they did - that wouldn't mean shit because it's Ukraine reporting someone else's losses.
      > got completely boged down in a strategically unless position and still haven't managed to full secer the city
      The city is taken for more than a week now with Azovstal being the last stronghold held by Azov battalion with civilians inside pretty much held hostage.
      > because the army still hasn't figured out how to move infrantry, tanks and artliarly at the same time and despritly needs troops at actually important points. Truly the sine of competence here.
      I have zero idea where you are taking this from. If you look at any video, almost every time there's a firefight you have soldiers and a supporting tank/BTR engaging the target, as well as artillery, air force and navy conducting regular strikes on targets to support the ground troops. ua-cam.com/video/PKVpFxfs0g4/v-deo.html

      Again, you are clearly pulling this out of your ass, because there is literally no evidence in support of your words and you did not provide a single example as to how that would be the case, lol.

    The names of the two ground objectives are references to the early space race programs - (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voskhod_programme and en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vostok_programme ). As such, the first one is pronounced with a soft 's' and the 'k' is more or less silent - "vos-hod", not "wok-shod" :P ... "vos" should rhyme with "loss" and "hod" sounds like "hog" with a hard "d" at the end instead of the hard "g". (learned this because of a fantastic brand of razer blades of the same name ;))

    Unfortunately, one of the enduring issues of Cbt Mission titles set in the modern era, is map size. Tanks tend to "zero" at between 1,500 and 2,000m so 1,200m is a "snap shot" (a bit like firing a hunting rifle at something under 100m away). "Big maps" in Cbt Mission are basically small sandboxes in the modern era.
