    Both of these refreshed full-size pickups were impressive, but in different ways. The Ram's interior and performance stood out, while the Ford's utility and smart cargo/bed solutions made it a true workhorse. It's rare that we end up with a comparison that's so neck-and-neck, but each truck has distinct strengths. So which camp do you fall into, team Ford or team Ram? Let us know in the comments below!

      I like the ram better but I think a better comparison would be the F150 platinum vs the Ram tungsten. The king ranch f150 matches up with the ram limited longhorn.

    Great overview. Last week, I drove a 2021 Ram Limited with the sea salt interior. Absolutely beautiful interior. I have been driving BMW M Sports for many, many years. The Ram 1500 Limited with the Hemi blew me away with acceleration, comfort, ride quality, low cabin noise, handling, and looks.

    I am a Ford guy and I think the ram definitely has better materials etc. The tungsten trim is cool and very high quality. However I don't like the usability of the screen on the ram as opposed to the Ford. The Ford has more physical buttons which I like. And like he said the screen is more intuitive. The dash screen I prefer as well in the ford.
    The front storage in the ram looks amazing. Jealous of that for sure. But that's where it ends for me.
    There's no reason a truck manufacturer should require premium gas, that's insane. Ford has best of both worlds and can run 87 and 91 or 93. I'd like to see Ford with premium and how the 0-60 numbers compare then. I still think the ram would win, but atleast it would be apples to apples.
    I like the features of the Ford more like the tail gate step, rear lock box under the back seat, pro power on board etc. I believe also that the rams are known for having stupid low payload ratings. Can't do a truck with only 1,000lbs of payload. That's 4 Americans and your maxed out.
    If I had stupid money to spend I would get the Ford. I would build my truck exactly how I want it. Ford is king is the area as you can option your truck practically anyway you want, from gear ratio to engine etc. Plus the aftermarket support is much better. You could easily tune your ecoboost to make crazy power as it's been out for awhile. The ram is unknown at this point.
    My final thought is v6s are dumb and there should be a small v8 turbo because that's badass.

    As a Ram owner, your points on the camera being squeezed to the top and android auto only using the top half are 2 of my gripes. The ride quality with the 4 corner air suspension was the real selling point for me. No other full size truck comes close. As for the lack of the Hemi, Id prefer the V8 over a more complicated 6-cylinder with turbos. Look at the reliability of the Fords when they first came out. 75K people having their engines replaced and turbos replaced. When you buying a vehicle that costs as much as a small house from the 2000's, I don't want one that needs more money in repairs.

      @@snozbaries7652 I would hope so, but a friend in my neighborhood has a 2022 F-150 with the 3.5L twin turbo and under 25k miles, that just spent 4 months in the shop for "carbon buildup on the valves and in the exhaust housing of the turbo". The dealership said to install a catch can to alleviate the issues, and his response was, why doesn't it come with one? Ford knows that the PCV system vapors are the cause of the issue, but due to EPA regulations (which is also driving the switch to turbo vehicles) won't allow them to install them from the factory.

    • @timleuliette899
      @timleuliette899 5 місяців тому +2

      @actual.actual that's right.. It's a 3.5L. Definitely my mistake. And it's the direct injection that causes the valve build up. Port injection cleans them. Direct bypasses them and goes as it indicates.. directly into the cylinder. I have a Mustang that does both, port and direct.

    • @timleuliette899
      @timleuliette899 5 місяців тому +1

      @@actual.actual I'm not sure of the root cause of it, maybe poor fuel that found around our area? In my neighborhood of only 20 house, all 3 F-150 owners have had this issue. One, had a 2014 that required a complete engine replacement at just 65k miles. I know it's a small sampling compared to the big picture, but when the trucks cost upwards and above 70k, it steered me away from them. Pretty much any direct injected engine without a catch-can on the PCV system is going to have build up on the valves in the long run. When I bough my 2019 Mustang GT, my dealer immediately suggested one for it, if I planned to keep it longer than a few years. Even though that engine (5.0 Gen 3 Coyote) has both direct and port injection.

    I love that Ram trims out the window bezel on the interior facing side of the doors. Note the visible red paint around the Ford's side windows from the interior, with the doors closed. Yuk.
    My beef with the interior of the new-ish Ram's interior is that the super handy upper glove box has been replaced with a stupid touch screen. The upper box still exists on lower trim trucks, but not even an option on Longhorn or Tungsten. A no-cost "Passenger Infotainment Screen Delete" option should be available to buyers. ARGHH!!!

I live in Maine where the only part of a vehicle that doesn’t rust is the tires. That is an area I can say the trucks I see rusting badly the fastest in my area are the Ram trucks. My F150 is 8 years old and I do try to take care of it , keeping it clean in the winter getting as much salt off as possible. There is Zero rust on my truck. The ford also recommends it for the power and while towing, Chevrolet 6.2 also requires 91 for the best power. It's not a huge difference for cost, most other expensive suv or sedans often require it of the same price. At what most trucks cost usually 60-75k msrp most can afford the small price difference, but in reality I don't understand how so many can afford these expensive trucks besides a business.

Makes the front end always feel like it’s folding the tires under, just an unbalanced chassis in general. Ford also has some snafus on interior, starting with turn signal indicators in gauge cluster, they’re hard to see. Ram is the better driving truck by far. That said, with no physical oil dip stick on new Ram engine that’s a big red flag. Relying on a sensor. Sensors and electronics in general have a much higher failure rate than physical components.

    So, here im a ford fan and has been for many years , but that interior of the ram i mean is nice but to me, not a mile ahead of the ford. So the interior of the ram is nicer, but the screen is much difficult to use than the ford's. I really dont think they should add the mini screen opposite the passenger on the ram, as it takes up space where the glove box resides. So there are advantages on the interior of each truck over the other. Driving, its the ram but not by a mile. Towing goes to the ford also being more stable while doing so. Exterior overall slight edge to the ram, also the engine in the ram is more powerful, but we have to wait for its reliability, as the fords v6 has been around for years. To pick one of thease great American pickups, you'd have to see which advantages one have over the other. Finally, conclusion, i love em both, i really do, but this won't take long yall, the ford's going home with me. I can also use this machine to power my home in case the electricity goes out. Great job ford and ram

    I'm surprised the ram out ran the Ecoboost in a 0-60 test but I feel like he needs to double check that cause last time I saw a test with the new Ecoboost hybrid was doing it in about 4.7 seconds not 5.9 I own a gen 1 Ecoboost and it moved but if you're not good with the throttle it can feel sluggish off the line at the time but if you learn it you can jump off the line quick. As far as the trucks Ecoboost is proven, ram has the worst transmissions that's just a fact, and the ford is an aluminum body so it weighs less and it goes a lot more these new hybrid Ecoboost row around 14,500 pounds the hurricane ram only tows 11,300? If I remember in that range I know it's in the 11000 range, I mean my gen 1 Ecoboost that has less power and weights more tows 12000 pounds and if you don't believe me I just towed my 13000 pound conventional pull travel trailer to the beach a couple weeks ago without any problems.oh l! Also as far as charging goes all f150s after 2015 have a full inverter in the back seat and the hybrid can power a whole job site for a guy like me who runs his own business and works with his hands. also one last thing the ram hits max torque at way higher rpm me towing my 13000 pound trailer I was doing 60 at 1700 rpm it was fine. Also those air bags are why the ram feels better on the road. I have to keep adding things I just remembered another thing the ram doesn't have a 10 speed transmission either like the Ford which is just better.
