Totally. They’re all emotionally stunted and were bred to fight and expect the worst from each other, but they also have that dynamic of kids raised in trauma. When they do come together it’s incredibly sweet. I love that fight scene between Shiv and Roman,it’s so real.
Just to clarify, the company is $3 billion in debt, not the family personally. Rob you’re getting the picture with Tom and Greg already. The best part of this show is the thin line between business and personal in this family. Everyone has an agenda and sometimes you don’t know if it’s a personal slight or a business move. The family really does love each other and they genuinely love their dad. And yes, Marcia is Logan's third wife. His first wife is Connor's mom and his second wife is Kendall, Roman, and Shiv's mom.
rewatching this episode its lowkey insane that the siblings even thought that any option other than kendall was possible atp in time lmao, out of the siblings he was literally the only one currently working there, he was the "named heir" even if postponed, he was groomed for this job. But its such a good episode, very underrated imo! The siblings dynamics + tom and greg are very well showcased and its only the 2nd episode! Such a great show
Rob is already seeing a little bit of how Logan ticks lol he definitely respects suffering. He knows his children haven’t struggled the way he has (Kendall specifically) and there’s absolutely resentment for that on Logan’s end. Like, he didn’t intend to entirely absolve his children from that pain - and now all he sees is that the luxury has made them weak. Much weaker than he was at their respective ages
idk if anyone else has suggested this already but you guys should definitely watch the post-episode breakdowns if they're available to you. the cast/crew have really insightful things to say that i think are helpful in understanding where characters are coming from.
I get so excited every time I see you've watched another Succession episode. It's one of the view shows that just get better with every single episode that comes out, which is impressive considering it started out so strong. Can't wait to watch the rest with you
As you go on, you'll realize that Connor is the chillest and best adjusted sibling. Ojectively speaking he neither chill or well adjusted but that says a lot lol.
Good to see younger people reacting to this. Your reactions are great! And also agree with your comments-glad the younger generation finds the weird stuff still weird and have a moral compass like the older generation.
Shiv is w/Tom bc A) she references a time when she was at in a bad place emotionally and he pulled her out, and B) she can’t tolerate any sort of relationship that requires vulnerability, and Tom is both in love w/her and the idea of being in ‘The Family’. He’s a social climber. So the relationship works… kind of. As long as Shiv is able to maintain control and Tom’s able to present to the family/public as an appropriate’ partner…. Their relationship is a mess tho.
Bruh. Let them watch the damn show like you aren’t a toddler with zero self-control. All of this is shown over time. Stop spoiling shit that the show already explains 🤦🏻♂️ You are a child
I couldnt really watch this alone even though I found a lot of the dialogue funny, but I think pseudo-group watching for the first time with you guys will be fun
@@ambriaashley3383 Well, maybe in a hundred years people will figure out how to bring back those that died a long time ago, before cryonics. So your "rest" will be short. :))
I try not to only have something negative to say, so I want to say great reactions to Succession so far… But I have to be an ass and mention- I hope the dude on the left is alright.. looks like he’s struggling to stay focused and super uncomfortable.. Im fidgety af too, but god damn, seeing that much fidgeting makes me wonder what’s up with him.. seems like he isn’t into the show and it’s manifesting as lots of self soothing, eye-rolling and looking away.. Anyway, glad you guys are giving Succession a watch. It’s top 5 TV shows ever, and my personal favorite.
when are you guys gonna react to the evil dead 2013? everyone has been asking for you guys to in the comments, especially on the video of the evil dead one you reacted to which wasn't the best one tbh. when i first saw the trailer for the evil dead 2023, i was like damn alright shit looks creepy af, but after i watched it i was like ehh alright. the one you need to react to which you should of reacted before this one is the 2013 evil dead, that one is by far my favorite one, and alot of others favorite too. it's better, it has a good story line, it's more creepier, more gorier, you should really check it out!
I think you guys are the ones that missed the point. It was written to be a dark-comedy drama, their response to the absurd characters and lines are pretty much what the reaction was meant to be. The creator of the show is British and I'd say a lot of this kind of dark humour is styled in a satirical way that brits find funny cause we love dark humour here...but it seems to fly over the heads of people in the US. The reactors didn't turn it into a comedy- the writers did that, its just a DARK comedy.
@@edsp666 Blah, blah, blah, we get it, you’re enlightened and on a different intellectual wave. 😂 We don’t care what it was intended to be. Anyone with a grain of brain cells would be too disturbed by the political, generational trauma, and economic subtexts of the show to be cackling to it in 2023. Granted, 5% of the audience may perceive it as a comedy. And, we get it, you’re ✨special✨ and ✨different✨🥴.
@09timae reacting to a TV show the way the writers intentioned is hardly "enlightened" babes. Yes there's horror to it, I didn't say there wasn't, that's the *point* of dark comedy. And these first few episodes in particular are some of those that lean hard into the ridiculousness of the characters as a way of introduction- also remember that Succession started in 2018- they were writing about a totally different time to 2023. Jeremy Strong was the *only* member of the cast and crew who took it 100% seriously- every other actor and writer was on board with the comedy and played their parts respectively. Back in 2018 everyone was laughing with the show (as WELL as recognising the horror and nuance- cause you can do both). All you're doing is cutting out half of what the show is meant to be, and yes it got more serious as it went along but even in the final season there are parts that are meant to be funny- in a dark or sad way but they still count as comedic lines or actions. This isn't some special response to the show for Christ's sake, it literally the baseline.
I think it’s meant to be more light hearted in the beginning but they definitely convey a toxic family dynamic for sure. I would say having finished the show watching a second time I take Roman way more serious because he is my favorite and I know his humor is disguising deep rooted psychological pain. That is true for every sibling though. I appreciate that the show is more about understanding why they act the way they do rather than seeing the character change and grow over time like a typical show would write its characters.
I mean the writers specifically wrote it to be funny, it's dark at the same time...that's the whole point of dark humour. But the absurdity of the characters, the clever and outrageous lines...like it's far from being meant to be taken 100% seriously. If you're not catching the humour it might be you're not seeing that the show is satirising them, and the real life family (the murdochs and a few others like the sacklers) they're inspired by. It definitely gets more serious overall by the final season, but it never stopped being a comedy-drama from the outset, just a dark one.

He’s not well adjusted. He’s Trumpian, has delusions of grandeur, and says he doesn’t need love.
He’s just as messed up as his siblings; it’s just externalized differently.
He's the best adjusted to his family dynamic, which is basically the show. As a person outside of the family dynamic - he's all over the place.
