I would argue Far Cry Primal is still fondly remembered more than Far Cry New Dawn.

For me as an anthropology major Far Cry Primal is absolutely the first thing I think of when I think of Far Cry, it’s so interesting in that context since Ubisoft went and made an actual functional *plausible* Proto-European language with actual, professional and phd trained Linguistic Anthropologists
Same here! I loved that game and the behind the scenes stuff, like how they created a pretty authentic language, just made it so unique.
Primal was my first Far Cry game and honestly probably my favourite, if not just for the way they portrayed the time period.

No joke, Far Cry Primal is one of my favorite games. I still go back to it pretty regularly for a playthrough. It's just so immersive, the setting is so unique, and I love the characters and story. It feels so different from other Far Cry games and I enjoy that. Also they created an entire language for the game, which is some cool dedication.
I've only played Far Cry 5 in my life. Primal looks like a step UP even though its older

It was the weakest entry and took out co-op, which had been a thing for the prior two games
The best thing about Primal is that having a save file meant you could use the loincloth skin in FC5

Yea Primal has to be my personal favorite farcry. 3,4 and 2 as well for other ones I liked and played. Rest of them? 1,6 and blood dragon never played. The others are just bad imo…5 is playable,but mainly more so for a fishing and hunting sim. New dawn is by far the worst imo.
The Urbz gba game was weirdly compelling as a rural kid, getting to explore "city life." Like the inverse of people that live in the big city finding refuge in Stardew Valley
Scott actually used to make games like fnaf world before fnaf so he does know how to make games like that but those were the games that didn’t take off
i'd say that the urbz is far from forgotten. most people in the sims community know about it, even EA/maxis remembers it. the same can be said for all of the spin-off games. it probably didn't get a sequel specifically because it was a spin-off and it was only on consoles, no console sims game has gotten a sequel. i don't think EA was really interested in pushing for sequels for the non-mainline sims games. at least sims medieval got a dlc tho
Yea maybe if he said Bustin out Castaway or the Urbz for GBA. But,by far Urbz for consoles is one of the easiest to remember sims games. Easily the most memorable sims spinoff game.
Fun Fact: The Dead Souls versions of Kiryu and Majima made a playable appearance in Project X Zone 2.
I remember there being another dead island spin off called dead island survivors it was pretty much like a clash of clans but zombies i don’t know if its still on the App Store

Damn Dead Space Extraction, Umbrella Chronicles and Darkside Chronicles and adding House of the Dead Overkill were all really good rail shooters, the Wii excelled at that.

I've worked at gamestop since 2015 so I've seen a whole lot of these first hand. I watched a kid spend a literal fortune on the minecraft earth toys. Bro cleaned me out every time. Down the drain that shit went.
I feel like a video similar to this, could be made for the Final Fantasy franchise. There's A LOT of random FF games out there.
What's a shame is that some of those spin offs have such great ideas but were executed poorly. Looking at you Type-0.

This was a really well done video, I did not know about the majority of these.
Some of these feel like games that aren't well known mainstream, but are well loved within their respective communities. I hear people clamoring for a new Sims Medieval or Urbz or Primal fairly often in those fandoms, just not much outside of them.
Dead Island had one more spin off called epidemic, it was a f2p MOBA style game.

My friend said he got a virus from installing it from steam so I've had an unopened copy of Epidemic in my inventory since it's release because I was scared as a kid

DOOM VFR is another weird mini VR thing. A fast-paced shooter but where you can't run. Genius developers. As far as I know it just came out when VR started being a consumer-level thing, like when PSVR came out, then just disappeared into irrelevance. I played a little bit of it while petsitting for someone who had a PSVR and the scariest part of it was that the cat would sometimes try climbing my leg while I was playing, so I had to try to kill demons and also not freak out from the claws suddenly sticking into my leg. Also yes, VFR stands for what you think it stands for.
Kills me that Duke was a 2d platformer before an fps. Also hope we get something beyond apex for titanfall.

Fnaf world? Forgotten? Now that’s just not true. People play it and speed run it all the time. And it also gets a lot of fan games that expand on the universe of it. Not sure why you’d call it “forgotten” by the creator I guess? But fans still play it and talk about it.

I loved rainbow six extraction. Was a lot of fun to play with friends and had really interesting lore. It fell off because ubisoft refused to update it. Regular updates with new enemies, maps, operators and that for sure would have kept interest but they neglected it to keep working on battle passes and premium shop stuff in siege and it died as a result of themselves
About Duke Nukem Manhattan Project: Before Duke Nukem 3D the series started out as a 2D platformer in the early 90's :)

Far Cry Primal is one of my all time favorites. I enjoyed the setting, far cry 4's gameplay loop was fun, story wasnt bad either but getting to ride a sabertooth tiger was just awesome

Fnaf world has a really erie feel to it for me. Like a game that kids would play in that world. Really creepily happy and brightly colored for such a dark franchise. Or at least it used to be really dark.

Recently played through and LOVED Escape Dead Island!
Primal was my first and only Far Cry game. It was a bit of a slow burn at times, but I tend to prefer a slow pace, so I had a lot of fun playing it.
Granted Yokai Watch is a rather forgotten Franchise…. But with that in Mind the Blasters mode is underrated as ALL HELL…
Especially because the MUSIC IS FUCKING FIRE(especially the main menu theme)
I still play Sims Medieval to this day. Its such a fun game, it really had so much potential for a sequel to take what worked and massively expand on it.
I played Far Cry Primal. It's interesting to hear you call it a "far departure" from the series. The reason I didn't finish it is because I realized it's just Far Cry 4 with cave man paint. Nothing about the primitive setting substantially changes anything about the game except the graphics. Instead of guns and drones, you get bows and animals. Otherwise, the main gameplay loop of sneak, kill, loot, upgrade, is still fully intact and mostly unchanged. I played it expecting a different experience and found it shockingly similar to the rest of the series.
If anything Far Cry 4 Lite, the lack of weapons with an extremely repetitive gameplay loop.
I don't know what you expect but of course Far Cry Primal is going to be an open world game where you upgrade loot and kill, and that's what far cry is. Even then Primal introduces many new mechanics that make it feel different, the taming animal mechanics was something that was new and has never been done for Far Cry before. The argument on how it's just like Far Cry makes absolutely zero sense, what do you expect from a literal Far Cry game? Do you want a 3D platformer?

Command & Conquer Renegade is actually very popular and has a fan HD remake of the Multiplayer called 'Renegade X' that had its own campaign and even an in development Fan Sequel called Firestorm in the style of Battlefield 2142.
C&C Renegade was an amazing game. I loved the others and having a first person game in the franchise was awesome. Plus the multiplayer was a mix of first person and the classics C&C where you made troops to fight with you. Was super fun concept
Pokemon Box goes for $1500 - $3k depending on condition these days. The Big Box version goes for about $3500.
Star Wars battlefront renegade squadron was one I feel nobody remembers. PSP exclusive
I'm late to the party on this one, but I will just say that Far Cry Primal had one thing I remember it for. Getting to ride a saber toothed cat into a camp and taking out a bunch of enemy cavemen.
when i was like 6 i was stuck on the final boss of the dead island game with no ammo and haven’t beat it to this day
Escape Dead Island was a bit weird, but i picked it up for pocket change and ended up having a pretty good time playing it. In fact, I actually finished the game, which is more than I can say about the original Dead island. I should probably replay and finish the original some time though. It definitely had its moments.
catherine is not a persona spin off, it has no more connection to megaten than sword art online

Mincraft Earth definitely had potential. Australia had early access and it was definitely a different spin on Pokemon Go.
Someone is bound to say it too, but no Pokemon Box is very well remembered. Anyone who plays old pokemon knows of its existence.

I have Yakuza : Dead Souls on my PS3, you can actually still get it on the store! Its really good even if the shooting can feel clunky from time to time, so if you are interested... its 10 bucks i think, so yeah!

Tbf, far cry primal is by far the definitive first title for next-gen consoles compared to multi-gen far cry 4
Far Cry Primal slaps, great story and amazing looking environments. I think what kinda hurt it was it's horrible hand to hand combat and the price. I want to say it was close to full price and with reusing the map from Far Cry 4 didn't encourage people to shell out the extra cash.
Command and Conquer: Renegade and Duke Nukem Project Manhattan I absolutely loved as a kid. Especially C&C. It had some really cool mechanics!
The 3ds was not deprecated until 2019 and even nintendo was still releasing full new games in 2019

I really didn’t click with far cry primal during the first couple hours of playing, but by the end of it, I was sad to see it ending. Love that game.
Dead Souls is a ride. I think a lot of people don't really think Yakuza: Dead Souls is going to be a completely normal Yakuza game that happens to have zombies in it. All the goofy stuff, the minigames, the arcades, the hostess shenanigans, and more. There's even a fully featured golf game in it.
Gears Pop! Was my favorite mobile game during Covid. I spent money on upgrading Raam

Dead Space Extraction is unironically my favorite Rail Shooter and a great prequel to the first game
Assassin's creed chronicals china is such a great game. I really like the playable character. Also of you ever do another of these mass effect had an odd spin off that came after 1 but before 2 that featured jacob and miranda.
You forgot the mobile AC game Assassin's creed Pirates. I think nobody talks about it anymore and it's forgotten but for mobile game at the time it came out it was a banger. But sadly ubisoft being ubisoft they shut it down few years after release
Far cry primal is underrated but from my play through didn’t really have fun with the combat and everything until like half way through the game
I have that Sim spinoff. And it is kind of weird. Sometimes it's you playing a Sims game in a fantasy setting. Other times it abruptly goes off into crazy and nonsensical directions, such as suddenly a random sim in the kingdom is the focus, and they think they've been selected to be the King (or Queen) for the Day. As for Escape Dead Island, it's a decent game. Kind of weird, and the finale gets hard as hell. But it's a decent game, just not a mindless action game like Dead Island or Riptide. Instead it was a stealth game, primarily.

Sim Medieval was a blast. I still have my CD of it, even though I dont have a CD drive anymore lol. Also, I literally just found my C&C Renegade CDs like 3 hours before stumbling on this video when going through some of my old stuff.
Duke Nukem was a sidescoller series though before wanting to capitalise on the success of Doom. Saying that Manhattan Project is a spin-off would be the same as saying that Metroid Dread is a spin-off of Metroid Prime.
