The diamond sword and the trident do the same amount of damage, I’ve noticed, they do -6 hearts of attack.

Fun fact, I don’t know if this works in Java as well but in Bedrock I noticed that when my pet drown’s head was out of water for a good bit it’s skin changed and it had like white bits on its head

Depending on which mode you have! Easy to Hard! But in the highest mode I suggest the Diamond Sword is weaker than the trident.
I once got a cornealis shell and trident from one drowned that held the two items

If you turn a Zombie with Armour and or a Weapon into a Drowned, anything that the Zombie Drops has 100% Durability. I can only confirm this Glitch in Minecraft Pocket Edition so if someone can Reply telling if this worked on Console/PC, that'll be very helpful
