It has surpassed the intelligence of one Ant. Maybe it's up to two Ants? Now you need to install a hydrophone so we can hear it.
120 min and pool looks exactly the same? wow, im sold
Brilliant, working a treat! I wonder why the wall mode throws it off so much. I liked the diagonal scanning towards the end, it seemed to be doing that by design.
not working. we are not seeing any dirt getting cleaned here
It's always nice watching someone else work!
It's still a bit confused by the steps but otherwise it works well in this mode.
Maybe it doesn't like the texture of the walls?
So it's the crawling of the walls that was causing the previous random wandering?.....interesting!
Yep. Madimack are working on why that's the case.
I think that result reinforces my earlier comments about friction being the uncontrolled variable on vertical pool surfaces, at this stage I don't see any product in the marketplace that is reasonably priced and can overcome the asymmetry caused when the robots start climbing walls. Perhaps the old fashioned Kreepy Krauly delivered the best overall result, of course for a robot to do that would require a massive increase in energy as the Kreepy Krauly used the full power of the pool filter.
Thanks for doing those experiments, at least now I know I'm not alone!
I had a conference call with Madimack and they sure it's not a friction or impellor force problem. It's very deliberately not climbing some of the walls. They got my unit back so they can exactly the logged data to find out why.
@@EEVblog2 It's interesting, I hope they can solve the problem but my experience tells me getting a symmetrical result with a robots is fraught. I suspect the problem relates to accelerometers and software interpreting shudders and vibrations from changes in texture as a stop events. In that regard the tiniest little bit of grit can be interpreted as a barrier.
Neat to watch.
Nice to see it figured out the pool topology. I guess it originally trying to climb the walls was throwing off its mapping?
Seems to be better now
What I've learnt from this, is how well that grass is doing around the stepping stones. How do ya keep it short?
Grass?
@@Okurka. Yup green stuff
having a pool seems like a massive headache for not much enjoyment. it ties you to one place
It means you don't have to deal with other people.
I suppose it's the same idea as owning a boat vs rentals
How does it "tie you to one place"?
if you have a nice house and a pool you'll spend your summer home@@EEVblog2 if you have a modest house with no pool you might spend more time in the high mountains and swim in some alpine lakes! sure not as warm but a hell of a lot more memorable. well i guess you can do both, but i doubt people do
Will it clean the bath and shower too?
What a difference. That's more like it. I'm curious why they bother with the 180 degree turns at each end. Wouldn't they save time and power just driving forwards and backwards? Or, is there a specific brush on one side?
Another example of the genius design: one way only!
It probably only has sensors on the front and can't "see" when driving backwards. I guess that was a design trade-off.
@@FrankGennari For $2,399.00 Ozzie Bucks, it just could not be done! Maybe for another few hundred $ they could have added it in or possible as a $300 option. 😂
Even Diagonals at end, nice.
These vacuum videos have sucked in about twenty thousand views. Funny old world.
thats alot better..like night and day!
Cleans the bottom of the pool well. But the walls are not its bailiwick (similar to a Roomba).
Has to be ae to do walls or is useless just about. Walls always seem to get algae growth first. At least in my pool
Firmware works ❤
In this case, no, it's because it's floor only mode. The old firmware would have worked in floor only mode too.
@@EEVblog2 it looked like it was mapping the floor better .
What do I know anyway 😊.
I don’t have a pool or a pool cleaner .
My thoughts are purely visual differences .from video to video
👍
Nice now just about 15 min cleaning the walls manually. Isnt technology grand! And always remember, keep your hand on the wheel.
much less random and confused now
Seems like all the 5 if statements doing its jobs finally :)
LOL. It’s called AI now. 😊
Now place a big barrel in center of pool. That will be funny.
That is better ..... just manually use a soft yard brush the do the sides before using the robot on the bottom
Horizontal, vertical, horizontal, vertical... Almost like watching TV!
Wow, new firmware delivered?
Without some sort of intelligence, just area filling from edge to edge... :)
EEVbot
The brain of a 2D robot trapped in a 3D world. How sad.
It simply can't do what is shown on their own website!
Ah, that’s better. Stop trying to escape up the sides and do the job!
Honestly, very few people give a F about a pool cleaning machine. A big F at that.
Naomi Wu's Pool Cleaning Robot video got almost 1 million views.
@@Okurka. It is how UA-cam count views as you only need to watch a few seconds of a video for it to register as a view..
There are some "watch paint drying" video's on UA-cam going on for hours with millions of views, but rest assured nobody has been looking at a screen for four hours.
The first 10 seconds are enough to register a view.
Therefore, nobody give a F about a pool cleaning robot. At least not the fourth time it is out.
Dave is just lazy but still want to put out content.
Go read the description of this channel and then either accept it or piss off.
@@EEVblog2 Lol, a bit touchy are we Princess?
worse than that, we didnt see any actual cleaning in this video
Those movements make more logical sense....
