Wow - Vic Juris. I got really into jazz guitar because of him. Saw him when I was in high school at a place called Katie Gray's in Montclair and was blown away. Bought his album with the Wes Montgomery tune Roadsong on it. In my mind at that time, he was rock star and guitar God; didn't matter that there wasn't more than 25 people in the room.
Vic was my teacher. A total virtuoso, but completely humble. I could barely get through a tune when I started studying with him, but he took me seriously, and that made a huge difference. RIP, Vic.
