If you're looking for something very useful when you're stuck with voices on melody, Kurt gives here a way : thinking two voices of a chord and play the melody with it, for example root and seventh and the melody (Body and Soul) 7:18 to 8:47 after that it's Fifth and Third. Enjoy the work :). Thanks Daisaku.
What a great short lesson on chord melody this is! I'll try this arpeggio and dominant substitution approach he's showing here on some of the tunes I've been playing for a while (and think I sort of KNOW). 江尻さん、このビデオをアップして下さってどうもありがとう‼︎ 大変勉強になります。
Super Valuable info. at 7:20 That alone will help anyone with Chord knowledge, improvisation and chord melody. Kurt is the man. #JazzGuitar #GuitarLessons #Guitar
Yep - great exercise for learning tunes and improving! Best of all as Kurt says it's "basic" info that clearly projects the sound of the chord. He really is a fantastic teacher too.
What song is playing? I know... I’m trying to take on some jazz and choosing rep is important. This lesson is so great. I want to learn whatever song he’s teaching!!
you take TED GREEN chords chemistry and JIMMY WYBBLE "The Art of two lines improvisation " and add George Russell " improvissational technique based on the Lydian Chromatic CONCEPT " .....and practice 5 Hours per day for 10 years
Listen to what he said in this clip. Take the root and 7th, or the 5th and 3rd of every chord a song has, and use those while playing the melody of the tune. He's trying to help others understand that it's not necessarily about a vocabulary of chords that you pick from. Each song contains the information you need in it! The more you try this, the more other sounds will open themselves up to you.

Nice catch and great info - I'm in the middle of my work day and want to stop and go work on that!

Learned something new. What great content. Thanks.
Your next task is to tab/notate all of this!
You can also check Lorne Lofsky master class lessons, be warned that he is a former Oscar Peterson side man ace genious 🐕🎸
There's a transcription (tabs + audio) of the part at 16:45 to 18:40 here: ua-cam.com/video/E9iaIuy0fWg/v-deo.html
You can see a trace of Ted Greene's "swirl" at 6:39.
Does anyone know what song he's playing at 4 mins?
It's just a variation of the tune he was playing before, "Body and soul".
@Daisaku Ejiri - do you have the other videos from this clinic?
What song is playing? I know... I’m trying to take on some jazz and choosing rep is important. This lesson is so great. I want to learn whatever song he’s teaching!!
He is playing "Body and Soul".
Hello Daisaku, is there any chance to get also the other parts of that clinic? That would be great! thanks a lot, domo arigatou!
Hi Daniele, no, this is the only clip I have at hand, unfortunately.
Great seminar. Thanks, Kurt.
Thanks!.
one word - brilliant!
Wow this guy can play e minor 7th 10 different ways.
Incredible talent; poor audio.
Whenever possible, get a *direct* audio feed to reduce the echo.
Mind blown.
Dear Kurt; can you share your chord voicing list book??

Fair enough... that’s how I can get to play what he calls “basic” thing😇
