“You’re more than that. Because I’m more than that.” There’s so many things being said with this one sentence by Anakin. Like most of all how Anakin as Vader for the longest time could not forgive himself. He felt like his sins were all he was. That’s a large reason why he gave up on himself by the time of the OT. His son Luke Skywalker spent the entire OT teaching/showing him what he plainly states right here. That he’s more than his sins, more than his mistakes (even if you want to see Vader as the actual embodiment of Anakin’s sins, he learned/was reminded that he’s MORE than Vader). Seeing Anakin after everything he’s been through standing there acknowledging what he learned in the OT and trying to pass it on to Ahsoka makes me feel all kinds of things in my heart man. Anakin doesn’t say that one sentence in arrogance as if to say “Oh you’re more than that because you’re my student and I’m great”. It’s a proclamation of “Ahsoka, if I can do it, if I can learn this, you can too. And you will.”
I agree - While normally I wouldn't feel warm and fuzzy over a character that literally murdered kids, I put it down to the dark side consuming you so rapidly you are no longer really yourself and so those actions are Vaders, but Vader existing is Anakin's fault. His ability to finally let go and move on, even in death - find balance and accept he is more than his mistake in creating Vader, even more than just being a warrior or a Jedi is... heartwarming
@@jameshetherington1 Yeah, I think that’s supposed to what the dark side is and does. It’s a real thing that corrupts you the more you get into it and the harder it is for you to come back from rather than something that you could easily control.
Further, when he tells Ahsoka that he's there to finish her training and she replies "It's a bit late for that," I think back to the scene in RotJ, where Luke tells Vader to let go of his hate, and he says "It's too late for me, son," while it really wasn't - and it wasn't too late for Ahsoka either. Anakin has clearly learned a great deal and become a much wiser and more thoughtful Jedi and individual.
I agree with this idea of him having learned its never too late but I feel like the way Anakin says "I'm more than that" sounds more annoyed and defensive for that idea to come across as well as it could have
Yeah, I just thought they would use a different actress for the Siege of Mandalore because Ahsoka is 3 years older and matured throughout the Clone Wars
She didn’t get to see that. She heard about it, but hearing about his redemption doesn’t mean she can forgive Vader or herself for the past years of suffering. In Legends, Leia had to deal with the same thing.
Anyone else love how they mirror each other with their arms crossed and leg stance at 1:20, it shows how much they rubbed off on each other through the course of the Clone Wars and even after they had separated. The master/ apprentice bond is not a one way street and in a weird way I think they were exactly what they both needed during that volatile time.❤ in spite of the way Ashoka was portrayed here (she was not generally whiny or self pitying) most of the time she was the one making jokes and got Anakin to embrace some light heartedness by teasing him and even humbled him at times. She was his first pride and joy after all.
I like how Anakin is trying SO hard to get Ahsoka to learn and she is still stuck in the past. So he finally gets angry and decides, “I know what will wake her up” and he transforms into his Vader alter-ego to scare her sh*tless.
Something i just realized is about the live or die lesson was at this point ashoka was literally drowning. So not only did anakin get her to let go off her past and out of her grief and depression but also literally reinstated her will to "live"
From what I see here, Anakin has become something like The Father from the animated series, the one who holds both, the light and dark. And therefore he was the chosen one all along to bring balance. He switches from light to dark and back to light here. Seems like he is some kind of balance holder.
Seeing Rex in live action felt like a Damn dream and Anakin being so accurate to Clone wars Season 7 omfg!!! Hayden Christensen is Anakin always same goes with Matt Lantern.
This scene really does show just how impressive it was that Ahsoka successfully led a recapture of Mandalore and defeated Darth Maul. She’s practically a child here.
My only issue with this episode was that it didn’t feel like they went deeply enough on Anakin’s fall. I think they should’ve had a moment where Ahsoka apologizes to Anakin for not being there for him and Anakin comforts her and tells her that it was not her choices that caused his downfall.
That was the lesson of the scene, albeit not just out front and straight to the face. Ashoka was tortured by the fact that she genuinely can’t know whether things would’ve been different if she stayed, and what Anakin is telling her throughout is “it doesn’t matter whether things would’ve been different in the past - you need to look to the future and not let my actions decide what your story means.” If he just flat out tells her that it wasn’t her fault, it removes the ambiguity of whether (audience knowledge aside about the movie release orders) she *could* have made a difference. Instead she has to make a very real and “human” choice to let go of the guilt and what-ifs and not obsess over not knowing. Like the rest of us.
Dave Filoni has outdone himself episode 5 is a magnificent episode of star wars Dave is truly the future of the star wars franchise and I can't wait to see Thrawn in the upcoming episodes as well as Ezra
We all miss Anakin's happier days but I like how he isn't portrayed as this wonderful person anymore, with every new flashback we can see some dark aspects of his character, like even when he tells Ahsoka off a little casually adding that she'll die if she doesn't fight. A hard and strict master with an attitude. These things add weight to his overall turn to the darkside.
When Anakin said "I don't know this battle" it was Soo exciting! He saw what Ahsoka was going through on Mandalore! Also loved seeing Rex in real-life and Ahsoka actress's action and The Clone Wars Season 7 outfit were nice! 26.9.2023
They actually did it perfectly. The actress, the banter, hell the choreography was excellent. I didn't have much faith in how closely they could resemble the clone wars in live action but they did it parallel. Even Hayden was and looked perfect which was a bit weird considering how they did him in the Obi Wan show. Just proves that Dave Filoni is the next best thing since George Lucas
Seeing the clones in action, and in LIVE action had me crying man. Wished we saw some more love for them in live action! I hope we get to see rex one more time before this show is over. Hes such a big part of ahsoka's life!
Hayden does a phenomenal job portraying Anakin as not prequel Anakin, but Vader also. And you can see here where his temper is rising and it’s as though he realizes she won’t learn unless she faces Vader, not Anakin. So he goes into that well, but with control. Notice how as soon as he goes into Vader mode, there’s no more talking or joking or reminiscing. He becomes very brutal and disarms her easily. The only way he could get her to respond the way she needed to was for him to become Vader. I’m not a big Disney SW fan, but I have to say that this was well done. It’s my favorite portrayal of Anakin. He looks young, but he has the experiences and maturity of Vader.
The lesson is about legacy and destiny. Anakin Skywalker may have been Asoka’s legacy, but Asoka determines her own destiny. Look at Luke Skywalker he lost his family, had his hand cut off by a Sith Lord, learn the truth about his father, and when he was faced by the same temptation to straight down his father he refused and remained a Jedi.Anakin was teaching her to live in the present and not die in the past. This was a great lesson for all of us to learn. To not be chained by the past, but to accept it and choose your own destiny.
Hayden truly did his homework for the recent appearances in Kenobi and Ahsoka. Truly feels like an amalgamation of his character and Matt’s character from the animated series.
I was not expecting a live action siege of mandalore. I was hoping for a live action clone wars flashback though, and that was really cool. I once saw an instagram comment a while back where a person mentioned what if there was a live action clone wars with Anakin and Obi wan wearing clone wars armor, and I thought that would be really cool, and I was low key hoping the episode would just start like that, as a flashback. I also thought maybe Ahsoka would get on a ship and leave mandalore, and go to mustafar to help Obi wan, since this was her current mind reliving the past, so maybe she would think that she could change the timeline, since there was a rumor of Ahsoka was going to fight Anakin on mustafar.
I love how Anakin finshes Ahsoka's training it just goes to show you how valuable mentors are to people you learn something from people all the time that come into your life
I think it would’ve been cool to have maul appear here instead of anakin, not as a ghost, but a memory, and tell Ahsoka that he was right and that they could have prevented the empire if she joined him. Then they would duel and maul would push her into the smoke. We would see a red lightsaber, but instead of maul, it would be Darth Vader, who would then transform into anakin with the red lightsaber and sith eyes and press the attack.

0:49: if you listen closely you can kinda hear the Clones Theme, I’m so happy to see Rex in live action
“You’re more than that. Because I’m more than that.”
There’s so many things being said with this one sentence by Anakin.
@@__jojo__ Love it. That’s character development 💯.
I agree with this idea of him having learned its never too late but I feel like the way Anakin says "I'm more than that" sounds more annoyed and defensive for that idea to come across as well as it could have
To think she was only 16 years old (maybe) during the Siege of Mandalore makes this a whole lot more insane.
She was 17, I think, cuz she was 14 during Christophsis
@@randallbalion4464correct
Yeah, I just thought they would use a different actress for the Siege of Mandalore because Ahsoka is 3 years older and matured throughout the Clone Wars
@@MadChristoph It's not a big deal, she nailed the role either way.
@@Darth_Xionn she did
Ahsoka: Did you do it?
Anakin: Yes
Ahsoka: what did it cost?
Anakin: everything
Was not expecting this part this episode is what we all waited for 🔥🔥🔥
1:54 As Master Yoda once said, "We are what they grow beyond that is the true burden of all masters."
Not like he literally saved his own Son and destroyed the satan of the galaxy while also killing himself in the process.
She didn’t get to see that. She heard about it, but hearing about his redemption doesn’t mean she can forgive Vader or herself for the past years of suffering. In Legends, Leia had to deal with the same thing.
Yeah, after decades of murdering innocent women, children and men, civilians and soldiers……
@@Raffnav1and in canon she didn't forgive Anakin either
@gonzalocastro5561 you mean Leia correct?
@@lynchn9562 yes yes
Anyone else love how they mirror each other with their arms crossed and leg stance at 1:20, it shows how much they rubbed off on each other through the course of the Clone Wars and even after they had separated. The master/ apprentice bond is not a one way street and in a weird way I think they were exactly what they both needed during that volatile time.❤ in spite of the way Ashoka was portrayed here (she was not generally whiny or self pitying) most of the time she was the one making jokes and got Anakin to embrace some light heartedness by teasing him and even humbled him at times. She was his first pride and joy after all.
0:48
It’s Captain Rex in Live Action!!
He was also in the phase 1 flashback talking to a twillek
Voiced by Temuera Morrison as well
Seeing Rex in live action is awesome
They got him accurate in live action, like Hot Toys got him accurate too
I like how Anakin is trying SO hard to get Ahsoka to learn and she is still stuck in the past.
This scene really does show just how impressive it was that Ahsoka successfully led a recapture of Mandalore and defeated
Darth Maul. She’s practically a child here.
This episode was brilliant.
Now I'm sad that we never got to see live action Obi-Wan in Clone Armor....
I like Hayden's delivery of his line at 2:09 you can sense he's getting pissed
i like how even beyond the grave, anakin is still teaching ahsoka 😢
My only issue with this episode was that it didn’t feel like they went deeply enough on Anakin’s fall. I think they should’ve had a moment where Ahsoka apologizes to Anakin for not being there for him and Anakin comforts her and tells her that it was not her choices that caused his downfall.
Same, he tried to kill her and she didn't even mention it
Agreed but it was a 9,9 /10 still
But I’m sure they will see each other again for sure
“Ahsoka, you didn’t kill anakin skywalker….. I did 😈”
That was the lesson of the scene, albeit not just out front and straight to the face. Ashoka was tortured by the fact that she genuinely can’t know whether things would’ve been different if she stayed, and what Anakin is telling her throughout is “it doesn’t matter whether things would’ve been different in the past - you need to look to the future and not let my actions decide what your story means.”
If he just flat out tells her that it wasn’t her fault, it removes the ambiguity of whether (audience knowledge aside about the movie release orders) she *could* have made a difference.
Even so, I will never forget the Original Battlefront II (2005) voices.
"For the Republic!"
I kind of liked the way he said, "Back to the beginning." Like he's saying, "Whelp, guess I gotta do this next part."
I hope old Rex makes a cameo in later episodes.
Considering he is confirmed as having fought in the Battle of Endor, I don’t think it’d be too far fetched at all!
When Anakin said "I don't know this battle" it was Soo exciting! He saw what Ahsoka was going through on Mandalore! Also loved seeing Rex in real-life and Ahsoka actress's action and The Clone Wars Season 7 outfit were nice! 26.9.2023
1:15 I don't know why, but I love how Anakin looks around, like taking a walk thru a park. So nonchalantly.
Finally yes Temuera Morrison as Captain Rex
They actually did it perfectly. The actress, the banter, hell the choreography was excellent. I didn't have much faith in how closely they could resemble the clone wars in live action but they did it parallel. Even Hayden was and looked perfect which was a bit weird considering how they did him in the Obi Wan show. Just proves that Dave Filoni is the next best thing since George Lucas
Hearing Rex with the voice of Temuera Morrison is so strange, but it's obviously cool.
Temuera officially as Rex ❤
0:48 - the REAL mvp cameo
1:16 - also, Anakin just screwing around in the background is - oddly - the most 'Hayden' moment in the entire episode xD
I love how this looks like a scene from Attack of the Clones
0:55 - 1:05 very subtle nod to the Clones theme
0:45 Anakin Skywalker and Obi Wan Kenobi was in Coruscant rescuing the chancellor
0:26-0:46 Ahsoka dices 6 Mandalorians in 20 seconds. She grew well under Anakin's teaching.
How is rex even more badass in live action
"Just because I trained you doesn't mean you're destined to become me. I trained you to be a warrior, but that doesn't mean you have to stop there."
So crazy seeing all this in live action! Had no words
I just love how Filoni took the tv shows, animated series, and movies and just put them into a blender.
Now we just need the video games.
I would love to see a live action movie or limited series of a Clone Wars story with Anakin, Ahsoka, Obi-Wan and Rex
Hayden truly did his homework for the recent appearances in Kenobi and Ahsoka. Truly feels like an amalgamation of his character and Matt’s character from the animated series.
I love that the 501st troopers in the background have their ahsoka helmet face paint on...
Best episode of Ahsoka. Seeing the Siege of Mandalore in live action, and Captain Rex was great.
She looks so young ❤😭
Hayden has improved a lot as an actor.
He had better dialogue and direction. Shattered Glass and Life as a House show he has more capability.
Which is crazy considering he gave up acting for like a decade to be a farmer lol
@@Zack-bl1cwFarming? Really? A man of his talents?
I know what happened, couldn't resist the reference though.
His acting was never the problem - Lucas' direction was the problem
@@Zack-bl1cw I never believed that Hayden actually quit. He just took a break.
I love the somber music straight from the last two episodes of the clone wars
Anakin seemed so different than ROTS. Here he seems emotionless, cold, and soulless.
The girl who played young Ashoka absolutely nailed it.
I love the music in this scene and the other flashback scenes as well
I was not expecting a live action siege of mandalore.
Anakin: is that was this is about .
Brings out the Vader side
I love how Anakin finshes Ahsoka's training it just goes to show you how valuable mentors are to people you learn something from people all the time that come into your life
I think it would’ve been cool to have maul appear here instead of anakin, not as a ghost, but a memory, and tell Ahsoka that he was right and that they could have prevented the empire if she joined him. Then they would duel and maul would push her into the smoke. We would see a red lightsaber, but instead of maul, it would be Darth Vader, who would then transform into anakin with the red lightsaber and sith eyes and press the attack.
It's wild how skilled Ahsoka is at just 17 here. I mean, even at 16 (seasons 5-6) Ahsoka's skill level is on the lines of what you'd expect from a jedi knight. At 17, she'd beat most masters.
I forgot Rex didnt paint his helmet with the rest of the 501st. So cool to see all this. They should remake clone wars live action
Lot of these comments aren’t remembering not all Mandalorians wore pure beskar, shits expensive lmao
It's a pity
@@Theosake Beskar is rare, the richer you are the more you can buy or inherit.
Din Djarin is only wearing a full suit of pure Beskar because the Imperial remants picked over the ruins of Mandalore and melted down the property of millions of people and paid him with it.
Before that his brown painted armour was plasteel. Same for these guys, mass produced plasteel or plasteel/Beskar alloy.
Only just noticed starting at 0:35 you can see Rex working is way up with Ahsoka in the background using his pistols. Then again at 0:41 walking behind the Mauldalorian.
Arianna Greenblat stole the show here as young Ashoka just as she did as Sasha in Barbie I like how they brought part of The Seige of Mandalore arc from the final season of The Clone Wars to life in live action.
Is that what this is about!!! Damn you can tell he just wished that stuff never happened smh, what a tragic character Anakin is
I would love for her to have asked him “Why’d you do it?” “ Why did you turn?”
0:50 Ah! Ah! There he is!! There he is!!
Man, Tumera Morrison voice as a clone. After so long.
Everyone vibing about live action clones and Rex until you remember what happened to nearly all those clones
Rex sounds like Temuera... as long as it's not that TCW guy I'm happy
this is insanee lmao because remember when she jumps off the ship in rebels and tells rex "meet u on the surface" or something like that and she jumps off and he laughs. bruh this is the surface. oh my goodness Im a nerd.
Imagine how crazy it would look if we had this girl recreate Ahsoka's Order 66 scenes.
Absolutely amazing scene! But it would also of been cool to get a glimpse of Bo-Katan and the Night Owls fighting alongside them.
Oh yeah, Bo Katan will probably show up later this season but she definitely should’ve been in this scene since she was with Ahsoka and Rex when they were fighting through Mandalore.
Let's take a second to appreciate that FINALLY for the first time ever, we finally get to see Clones in live action! FINALLY!
There have been live action clones in Star Wars for over a year since kenobi😂
Every master trains their apprentice to be better then them
Seeing the 332nd in action on Mandalore even briefly was badass
It's still surreal to me that despite his appearance, this isn't Clone Wars or RotS Anakin, but post-RotJ Anakin. It's so crazy for him to casually reference RotJ (I've heard that before), react to his time as Vader being mentioned, and _turn_ into Vader when needed
my only complaint is how ahsoka doesn't sound like ahsoka from the cw. That's it. Honestly an amazing episode
It was so cool to see Rex! Man I had goosebumps all over me!
It's as if Anakin is "balanced" within the force.. The chosen one.
