Nice nice! By the sounds of it you've become a low cost carrier convert. We'll miss your business and first class videos but think of all the money you'll be saving. :)
ouch
Pilots of spirit flights don’t normally make special announcements, it sounds like you got lucky with a really great crew
I have flown with Spirit probably three or four time max sine 2011. They are the airlines that I vow not to ever return and so business with them. I rather pay a little extra and fly other airlines(Frontier being the same but better than Spirit). Spirit CEO or who ever is running it, they could have made the Airline a better one if they where not greedy and listen to their customers feedback. From reserving ticket to flying with them, the experience was so bad that I said to myself that I would never fly with Spirit again. Especially the size between the chairs.
k
Hi Dennis
My spirit flight attendant said, "If you want the WiFi or complementary snacks, please look to your left, now look to your right. You will probably find them on those other airlines."
Haha no way! That attendant is savage!
SMG 😂😂
SMG my dad hates spirit airlines
@@Logick4456 I would feel concerned if he felt any other way
@@Logick4456 my spirit airlines hates your dad
Oh, Spirit pilots, but mostly flight attendants, make many announcements which are light hearted and such. It's one thing that I like about Spirit despite all the drawbacks. Another thing they've done during the initial welcome aboard announcement is they actually roast other airlines and people that hate them, and it's hilarious. For example, something like this:
"If last time you flew with us, you swore you'd never fly Spirit again, *welcome back!* "
They do trash other airlines alot lol
We had a great crew on our flight to Vegas a couple months ago. They were doing a thing where we guessed the flight attendants age for a price, put prizes in certain peoples trays, and we're very attentive with food and beverage. I absolutely hate the seats, it is so cramped. But for the price and amount of time aboard it was totally worth it.
I need to fly spirit now just to see this in person
What the hell Spirit crews have you had? I fly Spirit regularly (only carrier that services ACY) and the ones I've flown with generally hate their jobs it seems
Yeah, I remember one time I travelled from Miami to New York the pilot said before takeoff "Please pay attention and put your phone on flight mode, it won't be needed since we don't have wifi like Jet blue does."
I once got a joker pilot on Hawaiian :)
“We’re third in line for takeoff, but we’re gonna try and cut in line.”
“Forecast for tonight is dark.”
My Spirit pilot was a joker
“If you wanna be upgraded, you can either give us a hundred bucks or your passport, same goes for the snacks on this flight. In the likely case of an emergency, please stop screaming. Grab the life vest from the under your seat and put it on.”
Pilots live in a society
"We are going to Atlanta Georgia, if your flight is not that destination, well.. Too bad.
I’m from PHTO (Hilo) and i confirm a more joker pilot.
I still remember when I flew from Durban to Johannesburg in South Africa with Kulula (low cost airline in South Africa) and the pilot said 'Kulula only employs the best looking air hosts and hostesses in the business. Unfortunately none of 4 that are flying with us are the best looking.'
I’ve flown with that pilot before! I used to be a spirit flight attendant. He is a great guy! But he’s a jokester lol he’s always trying to lighten the mood!
Josh Leffers nice pilot to have
How did you like working for Spirit?
Ok
what're the chances
what a clutch quality to have for a pilot. if anyone is going to brighten the mood the keep everyone at ease its him. he seems like a good guy just from his demeanor
You should go to europe and try a £9 Ryanair flight from Stansted
At least there is more legroom but the old cabin is ugly
Just because it’s £9 doesn’t mean you get a different experience from every other Ryanair flight
But it is only 9 quid, the lack of amenities isn't a problem when it is THAT cheap.
but its like 50 quid from london to get to stansted lmao
mrvwbug44 oh don not be so sure. I wouldn’t fly on Ryanair again even if it was free!
I'm a broke college dude! But out of 4 spirit flights 3 actually have had pilots making jokes. The time he didn't it was a delayed plane so he was pretty antsy to get flying, much appreciated.
Southwest flight attendants are very friendly and always cracking jokes. If I'm going to fly a cheaper airline it will be Southwest - cleaner, friendlier, better seats, and the first 2 checked bags are free.
I’m 6’6” and I’m sweating watching that leg room
Evan White i’m 6’6” also and my college team flew from baltimore to tampa FL and in 2 short hours i was about to lose my damn mind. $120 round trip tho so i’m flying spirit again this year
Gosh this thread makes me anxious. I’m not even that tall!
"Assume the crash position", I can't!! There's a seat there!
Truck stop coffee is usually very good. The truckers need that coffee more than people sitting in an airplane.
Agreed. I travel be car quite a bit and truckstops usually have the best coffee IMO...
good coffee horrible creamer
I thought that was what the coke was for
Why tf would you drink coffee on a plane?
@@eelfood it's the same creamer as everywhere else.
As a Truck Driver I can assure you if that was truck stop coffee it would of eaten through the styrofoam cup
What he said!
@@gp2809 yes What he said!
Hahaha
Would have
Myself I like a hot cup of battery acid, with creme no sugar.
I can't get over how tiny those tray tables are! That's crazy! Thanks for sharing your experience!
They are so small it’s crazy
Records Travels and..... it looked dirty.
@@RobinNatural1 you get what you pay for
Those are for writing your good-bye note.
I went with Spirit Airlines and the tray tables are a regular size. But they are pretty dirty... I think he got a little unlucky..
I've flown with spirit at least a dozen times and always had good experiences, for $200 round trip from Houston to central America and back they can ask me to bring my own toilet paper for all I care.
I just flew from Detroit to Jacksonville Father's Day weekend. And I had that exact pilot!! He said the same exact thing about his 39 years of flying and the 3 good flight attendants.
Aletha Rideout what are the odds
I'd throw that sh*t on a tape recorder and just press play.
Spirit airlines is like being in an abusive relationship. You swear you’ll move on, but you always end up going back.
Can you the European ones and compare Ryanair, EasyJet and wizzair
Filio Gaminy is wiz cheap cause when I went with them they were expensive
@@matthewpengelly7082 it's a low cost carrier
Ryanair is the worst airline ever!!!
And smarteings
I’m flying wizzair in a little bit
Keep up videos like these, they’re great! I was so excited for the second and third video to come out.
I love the fact that the pilot came out and made that announcement! That makes Spirit the winner in my book!
I'm 6'5" and get so claustrophobic when my knees are smashed into the seat in front of me. Then that person wants to keep trying to push the seat back....that sound is my kneecaps crunching!
That's why you can't put spirit seats back :)
@@DerultimateKeks Yes but you can still push them back, even though they only move an inch or so.
I flew Spirit for the first time about a month ago and was favorably impressed. I normally fly with one checked bag and a carryon. This time I made it a point to get it all in my small carryon....and I did, much to my surprise. On the flight from Charlotte NC to Austin TX, I was on the small plane with the tiny little metal "tray" that you show in this video. The seat size was a bit small and the "tray" was a joke. But...the price was very low. On the return flight, I was on a MUCH bigger plane. The seats were bigger and the tray was normal size. Was quite happy with that flight.
Spirit personnel....OUTSTANDING!!!! From the gate personnel to the entire cabin crew. Just great. Friendly, customer oriented, and courteous.
I was flying home Las vegas to Detroit, in the middle of winter, and when we landed, the flight attendant said sarcastically "welcome to Honolulu Hawaii! The temperature is 3 degrees." And everyone just grumbled, because who goes to Michigan for fun 😂
Spirit annoucements are always fun and have a spirit :D
Knowing how great your videos always are, I usually click the like button before even watching them.
Thanks for making this vid, I’ll make sure to forward it to our corporate peps.
5:05 “this flight was ABOUT 59 mins 🤣. You sure there bro? I thought it was 58 mins 😂.
Great video as always 👍
Pilots on sprit make jokes often once I heard "today's destination is FFL and if it's not your destination now it is"
I like the line: "... from rental cars to the Ritz-Carlton ...".
Very pleasing to the ear.
Seeing the old terminal feels so nostalgic. For those who don't know, New Orleans got a brand-new airport that opened up late last year. While it's nice, it doesn't have jack to do while you're waiting to go through security! There's two small kiosk shops with minimal offerings, compared to the old Louis Armstrong port which had a book store, Dunkin' Donuts, multiple shops with fairly extensive offers, a little beignet shop... I'm disappointed that my girlfriend's first flight to New Orleans to come see me was met with nothing more than a hug and a walk to the parking lot. In the old one, I could have at least brought her to get a coffee or a bottle of water that didn't cost $3!
I like Spirit. They’re like the underdogs of air travel. I’ve flown with them before and I’ve got no complaints- you get more than what you paid for if you opt for no additions (considering all that you’re bringing is a carry-on backpack). You just really cannot beat the prices.
Yes true. If you only have no bags, or only a backpack or something that fits under the seat, then it's a good deal. But if you bring anything more than that, you're going to start paying all the dumb fees (like $40 for a carry-on). Delta at least, gives you a free carry-on on many flights. SW gives you a free carry-on + 2 bags, although perhaps a little more expensive, but if you're bringing 2-3 bags, it's a better deal to fly SW then.
Heelix Ranier I like to think that other light travelers exist lmao. I get that it’s not for everyone, but if you can manage to pack a week’s worth of clothing, supplies, and personal items inside of a single backpack, you’re golden for Spirit.
Spirit is really a great airline if you are cheap, travel light and by yourself. I don't see why people hate them.
Say what you will about low cost carriers. I have nothing but praise for the crew who took care of my daughter during a medical emergency. They responded quickly and efficiently. Thankfully, they had only started their push back and were able to get back to the gate where she was able to leave the aircraft and get medical help. She was very impressed with the crew's swift reaction to her emergency and what they did to keep her stabilized until she was able to deplane and get further assistance. All ended well for her. A big Thank You to Spirit!!
Great LCC videos! You're right about air traffic control into ATL. I've lost track of how many takeoff holds I've encountered at RDU going there. Can't wait for your video about that!
Instead of the yellow submarine it’s “We all sit in the big spirit seat, the big spirt seat, the big spirit seat.”
I loved this series. Definitely do more like this! Allegiant wins by far
I agree it feels like a rollercoaster with the plane stalling
I flew Spirit from RSW to CAK and back two years ago and loved it. I actually sat in the larger front seats (first row) each flight and they were great. No issues boarding and we were early both times.
Enjoyed the series! Looking forward to your overall review!!
The real question is, why is a guy with 39 years experience not working for a major airline with better pay?
Jeb Thompson lots of our pilot came from different backgrounds, like ACMI, regionals, foreign Middle East experience. Due to rapid growing at Spirit, our pilot enjoy fast seniority move up in short period of time with captain upgrade opportunity. Legacies airline like AA, Delta or United won’t able to offer this kind of thing. Our captain upgrade time was as low as 2.5 years.
Jeb Thompson spirit pays a lot to their pilots but for example they might fly the route of Fort Lauderdale-Cleveland-Boston up to 5 times per day, this is also why they always arrive early to your destination
Spirit treats their employees very well. Better than the big legacy carriers like AA and United.
This misconception people have about budget airlines. They pay extremely competitive rates to their pilots, and often have some of the best and most experienced pilots in business. They often have newest and best serviced planes. In order for them to make tickets so cheap everything has to work like a machine, with highest efficiency.
The real benefit is quality of life at Spirit! More time off and schedule flexibility with competitive pay. When you consider 2-3 yr upgrades - pay is just slightly under most majors anyway.
A well done report! Though I have never flown Spirit, I was comparing their costs with other flights. I found that their website certainly lists all the possible costs. When people get upset it is because they have not read the info on the website and are suddenly hit with $60 in charges beyond the $47 basic ticket!
Love your videos and reviews man. :)
Great stuff thanks for sharing. Looking forward to the ATC report!!
I had the same pilot and he SAID the same thing going from Florida to BWI
Next time your in Europe you should try RyanAir and EasyJet
First positive review that I have seen about Spirit. Have a great weekend!
Spirit actually isn't bad if you read their website and are aware of their rules.
Love what you do man. Love flying myself. Love Atlanta airport too!
I once took a small Cessna flight to St Louis and the pilot told us that if we saw something falling off feel free to grab the duct tape. Haha
I love the new AA, but in terms of ultra LCC, I’d have to say Frontier!
Alluring Bettas I’d say frontier too
Saw all three videos. Thanks for this. I'm planning a trip in a few months and have been comparing budget airlines
You can really cut costs with some of these carriers, and in most cases the economy experience on Spirit, Allegiant and Frontier is just about the same as an economy experience on an American main liner. (AA, Delta, United) Great job Jeb!
Love watching your videos!
I just recently flew on a newer Spirit A320, and the tray tables are full-sized, along with a real seat pocket
How was legroom?
Spirit is motel 6 in the sky
Hahahahaha!!! It's true.
Ouch lol
Oh no.....I've stayed in Motel 6. Spirit is a class act.
And we'll leave the light on for you.....
Then what motel would Allegiant be?
Another great video. You are such a joy to watch. Blessings to you on more trips. Aloha!
Spirit flight attendants are very friendly and comical. Loved them
Literally just flew out of New Orleans this morning. You’ll have to return when they open the new terminal!
Let's hope they stop delaying it's opening!
4:53 "Somehow the flight attendants found this 2 dollar cup of coffee at a nearby truck stop" LOLOL!!!
Zak James LOL
Great video. Thanks for posting this. Have a nice day.
Great series and and great video like always 😀
Amazing content! Keep it up also next time try to fly Southwest Lol or RyanAit
Bag had more room than you did 😂😂
Teach me to make these kind of videos. Dang they are so good.
The editing, is just spectacular. Good job.
Yes I noticed in more than half my spirit flights the pilot had a sense of humor
Some Spirit seats toward the rear have “baby tray tables”. Toward the fronts are bigger tray tables.
Spirit was an experience for me coming from United and other major airlines. Definitely good if you’re just trying to get to your destination in one piece. My biggest gripe was the 1+ hour wait for our bags. Never waited so long before.
I just happened to watch your Garuda Indonesia flight last night and then got the notification for this one today. Quite the contrast to say the least. Interesting series. I actually think I’d lean Spirit between the 3 which surprises me. I would have thought Frontier before seeing the videos. Looking forward to the summary.
You should compare Southwest, JetBlue, and Sun Country next! Since they aren’t exactly ‘low cost,’ but not expensive like mainline airlines!
bellcc2 they are a hybrid
Sun country converted. More seats jammed into same space
Those seats didn’t look comfortable. I think Frontier wins this
Aidan Sanchez I think so too
Aidan Sanchez they’re absolutely terrible can’t even recline
robert lautner exactly. It’s like hard hollow seats. Just like how RyanAir has bad seats
@@lewizzrocks Dont recline in economy
The seats were quite comfortable, both on the smaller place going and on the larger plane coming back!!
Great video Jeb looking forward to your atc video
In my prior single experience with Spirit flying out of LAS, the pilot did not come out to make an announcement. However, the lead flight attendant who made all the announcements interjected a lot of self deprecating humor. He started by welcoming everyone aboard, especially those who swore to never fly Spirit again. He also made jokes about people losing all of their money in Vegas so they had to fly Spirit home.
I found it all quite fun and amusing. I did cheat though and booked the BFS for the 4 hour fight back to CLE. Overall it was a good experience. I look forward to your wrap up video to see who you thought was the best.
That’s the smallest tray table I’ve ever seen!
"Government's Cut"
Lol.
Well done again Jeb...here in Australia we really only have 2 LCC in Tigerair (avoid at all cost ) and Jetstar ( a bit hit and miss). The USA has so many and granted given the population its a given !! Looking forward to your next review my friend!!
Flying spirit this weekend keeping an open mind!
2:45 Damnn he’s got a nice watch
Well Jeff our sprit captain got. Las Vegas. Mixed up with boston lmao
Love your work!
It's to know that some people have good flights on Spirit. The only time I ever flew Spirit, my seat wasn't fully bolted to the floor and it rocked back and forth.
I fly Spirit all the time. Always had a positive experience with them.
Fly southwest, everything is free, extra bag, food, drinks etc!
Blake Swanson Its not free...its just already bundled into your ticket cost.
Southwest is a fabulous airline.
British Airways often lands their Dreamliner on that "short" runway you took off on! Great video as always!
Great video. I like dancing to the background music.
You may not have Ryanair in America but you can sure still feel their landings from europe
harry andrews 😂 yeah the landings are like crash landings 😂
4:31 breaking out the slew mode
I flew the big front seat from DFW to PHX and thought it was great. I've flown all three and I think Allegiant is the winner for me. Really looking forward to your summary !
I travel spirit all the time. Some of the planes actually have some bigger seats and tray tables but no way to know until you get on. I've never seen a pilot on spirit speak in-front of everyone. The captain and first officer only seem to speak if they feel like it. I enjoy hearing explanations about the weather, time etc. But it just depends on spirit.
I'll say I have been lucky, never had a problem outside of me personally booking the wrong day, to which I was told changing it was basically going to cost the same as a ticket. So I opted to wait till the next day, but it does kinda make that clear when you buy them and I was in the wrong. (Double-Triple check the flight times before you click to have your CC charged or your wife will probably give you an ear full. )
Can u fly the new japan airlines a350? That would be such a treat!
Ticket prices should be based on weight .
That'd be a hassle.
psychiatry is eugenics A dollar a pound?

I am looking forward to your video on air traffic control. It is nice that you are trying to educate the flying public. I am an air traffic controller at New York Tracon working the departures out of the ny metro area.
another great video, Jeb!
I’m glad Jeb didn’t have to deal with Janice of Spirit Airlines 😂
Lol
Or any Janice for that matter. Sorry, gotta go, Janice is calling.
After watching all 3 episodes, I think I like Spirit the best.
That happened to me with seating on spirit, a few years ago. I got stuck in the airport for a extra 7 hours, which was not the ideal image of getting to the airport, but, I did get boosted up to JetBlue flight, and got offered 7 free domestic flights on Spirit.
Remember it’s not how you get there , it’s you get there without Crashing , love the time lapse video
Statistically , flying is safer than driving . That’s why people applaud when they land safely .
If flying is statistically safer than driving then shouldn't they applaud when they arrive somewhere by car safely?
Spirit is the only airline where I felt uncomfortable during my flight and concerned for my safety
That's great.
Thank you for sharing your experience Jeb, I´m about to fly from LA to Orlando with Spirit.
I flew Spirit a couple of months ago to El Salvador. I paid extra for the "big seats" and it was worth it, plenty of room and very comfortable.
Anyone else feel nervous everytime its boarding time for an airplane?
AllGameTrailersHD I get excited don’t know my mom gets nervous
An announcement like that from the pilot would have worried me.
I would worry he was bipolar and this was his way of saying it was his last take off and he had already made his last landing !! 😆
I took spirit a few months ago and I was very impressed. You have to do the big front seat, though. You get a bigger tray table and you feel like you’re in a living room chair. No recline though. My pilot did not make any special announcements but I found the cabin crew was very much like yours, genuinely happy to be there. I had flown Spirit a few years prior and it was different airline (ads all over, much more like a bus) but I felt relaxed and had an enjoyable flight. The cup noodles is as good as any airlines in flight meals as well. I had brought some crosswords as in flight entertainment (they’re also supposedly getting WiFi soon) but I never actually used them. It was a great experience and I’d fly them again!
Also: life hack, next time buy your spirit tickets from the ticket counter (any spirit ticket counter in the US and save the booking fee. Just be aware your bags will cost a few dollars more as you don’t get the booking discount and if you buy them at the counter you pay the day of price. Buy the bags online later. You’ll still save
#Roadto100k keep it up Jeb!!
Oh it’s “spirit” at first I thought it was sprint I swear I can’t read.
I wasn’t try
I always thought that too! They may as well be sprint with their obnoxious yellow planes
I seriously thought it was a Sprint plane too. Even the font is similar enough.
It's even crappy like Sprint.
