Now I’d like to give you a tip, always make sure you peel the aluminum seal completely off the oil jug to avoid any small pieces dropping off and falling into the valve cover in the engine. Lol
Thanks for the tip. You should have also explained how to reset the maintenance light on dashboard. Next time. Either way I appreciate the tip. God bless 😊
Thank you. Clear explanation, I got it. I have a Tacoma and will start changing the oil myself. I appreciate you video, the information is very helpful.
I have a Tacoma 06 4x4 and I noticed my oil stick doesn't mark up to the second dot like yours did. After reading the comments my model take 5.5 quarts. Off to Auto Zone!
You probably won't see this because your vid was posted 3 years ago. However, thank you for the video. After watching your video, I changed my oil myself, no problemo :^) Easy :^)
Nice video. I did one too. I like how simple you made it seem. Last time I changed my oil I forgot to put the washer back on the drain plug. Also my filter drain has a cap on it.
Another way to have the tacoma tell you to change at 3000 miles is with the service light. When you reset the light you will see it has 5 bars hold the reset and release it with 2 bars left. That will set the light to come on at 3000 miles.
Cool brother very nice good job on that I had a question how do you bleed the brakes I have a 2006 Toyota Tacoma as well and I wanted to bleed the brakes any videos or any idea that my name is Marvin on from Albuquerque New Mexico thank you brother
Hey brother! Love the video man. So in depth and easy to follow! I will never take my truck to get an oil change lol. I was wondering when do you give your truck an oil change? I have a 2019 TRD Off-Road and the dealer told me that with the newer trucks you change the oil every 10,000 miles 🤔I’m at 5k right now and thinking about changing it soon just to be safe. Thank you.
How about punching a small hole in the filter and let it drain with the engine oil. Then, after most of the oil has drained out of the filter, remove it. No?
Perhaps a silly question but does the Tacoma have two oil plugs? The one on this video and another? I took one off the oil pan by mistake I believe and some oil drained. I was wondering why so little came out, like 2.5 qts. Likely to redo this process all over again. Just curious if you could give me an answer. Thx!
Nice video, I own a 06’ as well but a 2.7 v4! Now I want to add, are you sure your 4.0 v6 is only 5 quarts? On my v4 it’s 5.9 quartz just curious. Just didn’t sound right! Thanks
Always bring vehicle up to running temp before draining oil. Remove filler cap, and do filter while oil is draining. Also, use CLEAN oil on filter gasket. BUSH LEAGUE.
I actually have a video on it but never uploaded the video because most people couldn't do it at home. You need a computer tool that tells you the transmission temp to fill it properly
How would it be better? I've always drained the oil from the bottom first too, just because that's how I was taught, but after looking at this video, I don't see what the difference would be.

Really appreciate this! I had started to remove a shield trying to find the drain plug. Lol

@@ngoalong6003 washer fluid for your windows? No. Just add when ever it’s low. Never change it.
@@ngoalong6003 oh the washer for the drain plug! Jaaa. I think you are supposed to if you don’t have one no worries just reuse the old one
@@ngoalong6003 if it’s a crush washer than yes change it but don’t think Toyota uses those.
Thank you, bro!
No problem.

This is a thing?
I have a 2014 is it the same locations for the filter and bolt on the tank?
I have same engine and put about 5 and a half quarts in
do you need to change the washer every time to change oil? thanks
Where do you take the oil to be dispose of?
Cool brother very nice good job on that I had a question how do you bleed the brakes I have a 2006 Toyota Tacoma as well and I wanted to bleed the brakes any videos or any idea that my name is Marvin on from Albuquerque New Mexico thank you brother

I always change my oil at 3k miles. I had a 2008 Evo X that I BOUGHT from the dealer they said the same thing. I still change it at 3k miles

Bro I have a question the drain plug is on the front or back can you reply asap thak you
If your battery dies then your trib b disappears right?
2.7 or 4.0 truck? Also, what was the size of the tubing you used (Wait nevermind...I heard you state 3/8") Good video!
Tendré que sacarle de nuevo?
Nice video. Where did you get the files for few dollars. Can you please upload the link. I can only find it for $25+
My 2006 V6 Toyota Tacoma Pre-Runner takes 5.5 quarts of oil
Hi you can buy Toyota oil filter at Walmart to now
Takes 5.5 qts of engine oil
Only if it's a 4x4
A 4x2 takes 4.8q
@@automatedcomment so 4x2 take less than 5qt right
@@automatedcomment but if its a 4x2 prerunner it takes 5.5
@@aManVexed your thinking 4 cylinder
@@automatedcomment the v6 prerunner takes 5.5
Follow the vehicle manufacturer's intervals. Doesn't matter if it's synthetic or conventional. Sooner is ok. But never go longer then what they say.
What are the torque requirements for the oil pan drain plug?
30 pounds
So Tacoma prerunners are 5 quarts of oil and 4x4 is 5.5??? Idk why but the owners manual is so confusing to read.
Perhaps a silly question but does the Tacoma have two oil plugs? The one on this video and another? I took one off the oil pan by mistake I believe and some oil drained. Found this video after I drained the oil.
you drained the transmission oil
What size of the hose that you use, 1/4" or 3/8"?
I thinks it’s 3/8 fuel line from AutoZone
I’m confused which is transmission and engine oil drain plug
Buy the Chilton's. They look different. A picture really helps.
Nice video, I own a 06’ as well but a 2.7 v4! Now I want to add, are you sure your 4.0 v6 is only 5 quarts? On my v4 it’s 5.9 quartz just curious. Just didn’t sound right! Thanks
My 05 v6 is 5.5 qts with the filter change
The salesman at Autozone told me to use 5W-20 and 5 1/2 quarts. What do you think?
He’s trying to make you buy a new engine. Your oil cap says 5w-30, well for a V6 that is. Not sure about the 4 Cylinder.
the extra .5 is to fill the filter up
if you have 4x4
The manual on my 4 cylinder says 0W-20, and 5W-20 as an occasional back up. I think that this vid is for a V6.
🇺🇸
I have a 07 and you don't even need the hose dude just shove a water bottle under there and you're fine.
Does the truck need to be cold or hot

No se porque yo le puce un galón de aceite a mi Tacoma y no me marco bien la medida y le puce un curto más

Wouldn’t be better drain the oil from the bottom drain hole instead of messing with the oil filter first 🧐🧐🤨🙄🤔🤔
