Welcome to Modern Homestead Alaska. We are located in South Central Alaska near the town of Wasilla. Living in Alaska and building our dream of “modern Homesteading” through the wilds of winter and the long summer days. We started building our Modern Homestead in 2021. We have since completed the upper levels of our home. Built a 16x16 foot chicken coop that dreams are made of. Our chicken ladies live in luxury as they view the beautiful lake from large windows inside the beautiful coop. We raise our own poultry, hunt for our food. We are avid fisherman And woman. I have gone through the ice a time or two in my lifetime in Alaska. Luckily, you had Aaron there with the Argo but, all in all everyone is safe and that is what matters.
You have not ridden enough they tell me if you haven’t fallen in a couple times. It all ended up fine. Even the sled.

Oh gurl!! Not again. Lol, you seemed a little less worse for wear this time ( thank goodness) 😊 that really looked like some good eatin'. I've never had a fish taco, but it's on my list. My family ate salmon a fair amount when I grew up, but my mom didn't like tuna, so that was it ( except for fishsticks, but they don't count). It looks like Destiny's the big winner this time! Just another day living in the great white north eh. When we lived in our last place we had to walk across the frozen river with our groceries and supplies all winter. For 13 years I dreaded the day we would break thru. When you went in the icy water, my heart skipped a beat remembering exactly what it felt like. Glad everyone made it off the ice safe. Great video, thanks 🌷🇨🇦

Yes the Argo would have no issues. However correct it would need to climb out. But we have driven it into our lake in the summer, it just pops right out. It’s pretty mind blowing and it feels so scary the first time like is this actually going to float and get back out of the lake…… it does
The cabbage slaw is really good if you add some rice wine vinegar. It’s great on chips.

Keeping in mind, my knowledge of winter play/ice fishing is zip, that ice covering the lake is looking like it’s time to end the season!! You have mentioned what a milder winter you have had and so I am thinking you may have break-up earlier than usual. 🤷🏻. Glad you were able to eat your catch in such a short time of catching. I think that factor would make your efforts all the better!

My cousin just saved a family of 4 that went through the ice in our local lake. 13 inch thick but it has been a strange winter. As they were driving their side by side the ice gave way. Only 1.5” on the spot they went through. My cousin heard screams and got there and pulled the 4 year old out. He was under almost 5 minutes. He kept working on him and was able to finally get a pulse. The child is now in intensive care in a coma. Not sure if it is induced or not. The freeze and thaws here in Vermont have been so crazy, you just don’t know what is safe. Glad your ok.

We do when we are actually riding. Moving around the lake and pulling Caleb out we don’t need them.
Seems to me they all had helmets on until they stopped. Wow how did they survive without people telling them what to do ....
@@Yaya2214CJ we actually did until they are blocking the view and the ability to hear. And when we check holes on the lake. But when on the trail going 20 mph we have helmets on
Trying to be polite.
After all these ice fishing videos, and you go to set the hook right away. NOTHING! Let them EAT IT, take line and then touch the tip up. Wait intel there ready to poop it out before doing anything. Give it a try, you have nothing to lose as that’s what you normally do!
Can you let me know exactly what you are saying. We catch so many and of course it’s fishing we loose some too. I’m not sure who in the video you are talking to. Everyone has a different technique.
I’m saying let the Fish eat the bait intel they poop it out. Don’t set the hook so quickly, it’s cold and they take their time to eat.
I know you catch a-lot of them. But as a 25 year commercial fisherman. I’m thinking you should catch every one of them.
