@k0p it's literally true. The United States has no official language. While English is the most common language, and it would be difficult to navigate without knowing English at all, it still doesn't make it a requirement to know. Plenty of people live in places where they need no English (China towns are a great example of this).
i remember in elementary school i was speaking spanish with my classmates and my teacher back then came over and was like "we need to speak english in class " i still remember that moment clearly ever since i was little 😔
I am so tired of hearing this remark when factually your teacher was charged with teaching you English. I would bet your parents were expecting you to learn and speak English at school but not to say teachers can’t hurt children’s feelings very easily and that is wrong. Students talking English only to their peers at school is a wonderful way to enable learning because if you speak Spanish to your friends and another group speaks Russian to each other it results in less people speaking English fluently. Thinking you speak a language fluently does not mean that you actually do speak it fluently. If you didn’t speak it at school you missed an opportunity. My generation of teachers were prohibited from telling students to speak English only so that remark wouldn’t have been made but I think it has hurt all of us in the long run. One problem I noticed was that I would have classes where only two or three students were native English speakers.
Well I mean, technically it does, the accepted language is English that all public signs, documents, laws, and broadcasts are in. But there are also many other languages spoken by minorities and foreign ethnic groups such as Spanish or German or other European languages in example

This touched a deep nerve. My parents came over from Vietnam right at the tail end of the war. Two 20-somethings with little knowledge of English with a two and three year-old. The escaped gunfire, mortar fire, and all sorts of danger. They saw literal dead bodies floating in the waters next to their boat as other boats had been hit. It’d be years later that I was born, but I can remember being in the position this child was in with my mom knowing next to no English just trying to have a nice day out with her youngest child. Thankfully, no one was ever this cruel, and generally people were patient and kind. Yet, there were the occasional individuals who were less than understanding. The fact that these events still happen hurts me deeply.

Fun fact: the U.S.A. has no official language
Well I mean, technically it does, the accepted language is English that all public signs, documents, laws, and broadcasts are in. But there are also many other languages spoken by minorities and foreign ethnic groups such as Spanish or German or other European languages in example

@@rawgerwaters it's actually buenas tardes
I am so touched by the actions & words by the bystanders who stood up. As a daughter of immigrants, this video made me very emotional.
Me and my mom get treated like this everyday. We live in Italy and I speak fluent italian. But my mother has an accent and doesn't speak the language well. It's hard. And people don't do anything about it so it's me that stands up for my mom most of the time. On time a person spit on me then my mom and things started to heat up. Anyways yes dont treat people like that. Thank you for this episode i appreciate it
They just suck for treating you that way don’t let that happen what language does your mom speak
no one should be treated that way. I’m sorry you and your mom have to face that
It's really weird. I live in italy too and i always speak spanish when and wherever i want with friends or family. Nobody says something , never. Maybe do u live in south italy?
Italians are pretty racist. I went on an italian cruise with my friend and one night two old hags were making fun of me and her for being short and chubby. 🙄🙄🙄
We’re puertorricans.
bro when people call it american and not english my brain just hurts
"Your families not American, you're not Native American." With so many people racist towards Natives, it makes me so happy when someone acknowledges us. Thank you! 💕
The NERVE of people being racist towards the native people 💀 it's THEIR country more than anyone else's tbh. I'm not American, but oh boy does my blood boil when I hear about how overlooked the Native American people are in their own country. In every other country I've been too including my own, natives are given top priority.
America really baffles me. Really and truly.
The Americans practically stole and killed off your people. They literally wiped you guys out and stole your country. The Native people that are left needs to have some respect put back on there name. If anything they should have more rights to "America" then the Americans that live there now. They shouldn't even have to work tbh.
@@KuromiLaBella Thank you! Felt this so hard. What country are you in/from, may I ask?
Yes, as a resident of Springfield I find that even as early as elementary school we’ve been taught tolerance of others, especially Native Americans. I remember in third grade we had a group of people from the Navajo nation visit us and show us a couple of things and I remember thinking it was just the coolest thing. I’m proud Springfield is this way.
Yea, never bite the hand that feeds you doesn't apply when it comes to Native Americans and I'm sorry the system is based that way.
New drinking game: binge the show and take a shot every time John says “we’re rolling one last time”
"Wakes up in a drunk tank"
Passes out.
John: What made you do that?
Legend has it that only cool ladies say stuff like that
Alcohol poisoning in one episode
“... have your chips and salsa”
“That’s ironic isn’t it?”
Low key racist and def not scripted 😂
He probably was doing improv to make it seem natural and not take pauses to listen to what John is saying. I really liked the acting. It seemed real and unscripted like it should
That’s not racist lmao at least given the situation
@@coryt93 he is being racist that's the point😭
Ironic like there are more Spanish Speaking countries on America (the continent) than English Speaking countries
I was with my mom speaking Spanish and this man told me very rude “English,English,we don’t need to hear you” I felt very hot and before I say anything an old black gentleman touch my shoulder and told him to mind his own business other lady yell “yeah leave them alone” he walk away cursing 🤬 I been holding lil rage since then remembering my mom’s face she make when that racist man went to our table.
My Tia had the Same Experience when she was Speaking Spanish at the Store this lady was Like This is America we Speak English My mom was pissed and my mom told me this story when it happened
