Yes it was close to the speed of sound, but pilot put the throttle to the neutral, because if he stay on afterburner, he would exceed supersonic speed and most of those people would probably become deaf, because the shock wave would tear their eardrums and could also seriously damage their internal organs as well.

The Hornets are gone, but they were replaced by Super Hornets and Growlers, and while original intent was to retire the Super Hornets once the F35 reached full strength, the deteriorating situation with China and Russia likely meand the Super Hornets will remain in the fleet for longer than first intended. Epect to see more F18 flyby's, although crowds will probably prefer to see F35's.

@@alyssaaaa67 sadly no, all Australian f/a-18s classic and I’m pretty sure super hornets are being replaced by the f35s so that is what may fly over.
