nothing amazing about it when you realize the billions of dollars they spent and spend to make it happen.
Videos never do justice to just how loud F-22's are in person. Was at an airshow this summer that had the F-22 Demo Team, Blue Angels, Red Bull, etc., and I swear the one F-22 was louder than the entire squad of F-18's flown by the Angels. You can definitely feel how much more powerful it is in your chest also. By far my favorite plane to watch. Don't get me wrong, I love the Blue Angels and the Red Bull Stunt team, but, come on, it's an F-22.
About 2 weeks after the lockdowns started in Los Angeles I drove by LAX. The airport was almost entirely empty. I watched the runways and a plane would takeoff or land about every 30 minutes. I stopped paying attention and all of a sudden the loudest noise Ii ever heard came screaming by me. It was two F-22's taking off. Set off every car alarm in the city.
I was in the Navy and exposed to lots of jets at sea, and at air bases and naval air stations all around. Harriers were loud taking off and landing vertically on my ship, especially since they’re in close proximity when doing so. Loudest afterburners were the F-15. Several years after I got out, went to an air show that had a F-22 perform at the end. The new king of loud was crowned that day… 👑
There are so many things right with this video. F-22s, Bronco, Lambo, Hawaii, beautiful day, people in the foreground leisurely watching. So many good things.

I'd take an F-22 over both the Bugatti and Lamborghini combined! But in actuality, the price tag, spec, and performance of the Bugatti does not compare to that of the Lamborghini Gallardo. Either way, with the amount of money it takes to buy a car similar to the Gallardo, I would rather have multiple (super)sport bikes! :)

A few years ago, a flight of 6 F-22's were doing a "gas n go" at Eielson in AK...heading back to JBER in Anchorage. Before they took off I stepped out to watch them. All 6 of them mo fo's did a combat takeoff and went vertical after clearing the runway. I'll never forget it.

I saw an F-22 demo about 10 years ago. It was THE loudest jet I ever heard. Amazingly maneuverable and quite the machine.
Well apparently you've never heard an f-14 tomcat getting ready to launch off an aircraft carrier now that is loud I was on the Carl Vinson and many times you could tell when one of those was about to take off and more than once I've heard them break the sound barrier very impressive

When I was about 7, my father and I were detained by MPs at naval base for watching jets take off. We had just seen a b-1 stealth bomber take off, and it was awesome, I was all stoked about it and yelling when the MPs pulled up. They basically told my dad they had been recently having trouble with foreign spies setting up outside of air bases and recording it(it was relatively new at the time), they got my dads ID, gave me a piece of gum, and let us go. About a year later my dad was telling an airmen at an air show about it, and he confirmed that this was an actual problem. At the time, the stealth bomber was still under lock and key, and apparently for us to actually see it taking off was a huge deal.
My dad had a similar situation with an SR71. He was driving by the end of the runway and spotted it taxiing to the other end of the runway to take off. He thought, this is cool I'll just pull over, walk over by the fence and watch. Didn't go well. He apparently had multiple guys with guns in camo jump out from somewhere and basically tell him to get back into his car and FO. lol

B-1 isn't a stealth bomber. You're thinking of the B-2, a radically different aircraft. Neither flew from Naval bases.

My dad worked for Lockheed, one day in the late 80s he was in either Palmdale or Edwards and saw two F-117s. He was told he didn't see a thing. He never told anybody 'til after the Gulf War.
I had to look this up and I found an extraordinary trait that only the F 22 has. It is the only aircraft in the world that can accelerate to super sonic speeds going vertical. Amazing.

@@kieronyoung6773 Only technically. In any realistic sense the Lightning could not achieve this. It's two Rolls Royce engines produced 16,360 lbf with afterburner. The craft weighed 31,000lbs empty. Which means the craft only had an excess of about 1,700lbf of force when the craft was completely empty of fuel. It was an impressive craft to be sure and held an incredible climb rate but it's power to weight ration isn't quite what the raptor is capable of.
The Flankers could do this as well. It’s not a new thing, but the F-22 engines are amazing tech.

After living in Iroquois Point for nearly 3 years, I know when ever its a Raptor. They're loud at landing and even more loud when taking off. C-5's coming in for landing is the ultimate alarm clock

I worked at PDX around 2008 and we were building new stuff. We had birds like this F-18 Hornets and they flew st8 up and almost blew the windows out of the control tower people. God Bless America.

where all the action was.This was back in the seventies when the Navy flew the F-14 Tomcat.Amazing to see one shot off the deck with full afterburner and immediately go into a straight vert climb.Kept on climbing and finally leveling off and they were gone.Landing was also an awesome sight.Nose up with hook grabbing the last wire slamming the nose down.Pilots gave full throttle so if they missed the wire they would get back in the air again.Had practice touch and goes with no hook down.Man do I miss that plane and the Kitty Hawk being scrap metal bound.
The F14 was extremely loud. It was always amazing to see that big beast fly so fast.

The F-22 is LOUD. I used to live near Tyndall, right under the final approach glide path. Even throttled back the 22 is LOUD and has a unique whistle caused by the twin intakes. Neat stuff. Wright Flyer, USAF (1968-1972).

Brings back memories. I used to work in downtown honolulu on the top floor of a really tall building, and I shared an office with a view straight down the centerline of the reef runway with a retired Army chopper pilot. He had a radio tuned to the departure frequency, and needless to say, any time we heard the phrase hang ten departure, all activity in the office stopped, and all eyes were focused on the reef runway. One particularly memorable departure involved a solid cloud deck that had one hole letting light stream down to the ground. The F-15 pilot (15-20 years ago) went a little off vertical and punched right through that hole. Amazing stuff.

Some time in the 1970s a pilot in a F4 was waiting impatiently to takeoff, after a while he was cleared to line up on the runway and wait, so he waited, after a while he asked the tower "Am I clear for take off yet?" The tower replied "there is other traffic in the area, the only way you can take off is if you can reach 30000 feet before you pass the end of the runway". He replied "Roger that!" and did so, 5000 feet horizontal and then 30000 feet vertical.

Haha, thanks. I just rewatched it at high volume too and the sound really does have the same loudness and rumble as being there in person (just minus the vibration feeling in your chest). Many other videos don't capture that rumble at full volume -- all credit to my humble Samsung Note 3 phone camera.

On my way back from Afghanistan 2012, my plane stopped at Langley and I happened to see a pair of F-22 Raptors taking off. They performed a regular take off... but damn, that plane looked awesome, as in it had a great design and it looked futuristic. But it just cried out that it was going to shoot down any enemy aircraft it encountered. Hands down it reaks of awesomeness. Oh and I was in the Army E-5 when this occurred if you're wondering.
Alpha Echo119, Thanks for your service. I second the bad assness. Flew over to Hawaii to see dad a couple of months ago and connected in Honolulu for the flight to Kona. We had to wait on the taxiway while the Air National Guard took off for maneuvers in theirs. Had to be 2 dozen there and I was lucky enough to be on the side to watch the entire take off roll from where we waited. Even in our plane with two jet engines idling, the roar from the F-22’s was loud. Off the runway and gone, just like in this video, except they were launching in staggered pairs.
