That Halo is beautiful! I'm glad that Ampeg went with 8's for this cab. I'm hoping that maybe there will be a 4x8" for guys like me that don't need anything as big as the 8x8". I guess that's kind of how the 4x10" came along, people chopping their 8x10' cabs in half.
I own one of these cabs and i love it I bought it some weeks ago because of GAS für the new ampeg 8x8 but insufficient fundsof money I also own one 6x10 Ampeg cab
@1:27 You are incredibly strong, smart, and handsome IN FREEDOM UNITS! I...have never gotten along with any 8x10s...The 8x10 I had used most frequently was an Ampeg fully-sealed cab, and to me, it just sounded boxy and was really power inefficient. (Probably cranking an all tube SVT head through it probably would have helped!) I'm really glad to see the giant vent/port on this. I was hooked on 8" speakers after playing both electric bass and upright bass through an SWR Silverado 4x8 combo, and have more recently gotten hooked on Phil Jones Bass's 5" speakers! Part of me wants to buy a pair of PJB 4x5 cabs to put on top of my two 1x12 cabs for a shrunken 4x10 + 1x15 looking rig! 😆 This cab sounds spectacular (just like your new Halo looks- and sounds!) Tchuß!
I love my Ampeg gear. Specially the part that says Made in USA. I've got an SVT200t and a classic1x15 that works for just about everything. I've yet to get a bad sound out of it from any of my basses. The newer gear is OK but doesn't compare to the older stuff.
It's still 67 pounds. Lighter, yes. Lightweight? My 75-year-old back says nope. As @jreid641 pasted, a 4x8 " cab would be truly lightweight, probably about 35 to 40 pounds or so I imagine.
Some may not like the low end cutoff frequency of these smaller speakers. For example, the LaVoce WAN082.01 8" Neodymium Woofer low end is 80Hz. I'll stick to my Peavey Black Widow 18" cab from the 80's. Low frequency city.
These Venture cabs are all ridiculously underspecced compared to every other manufacturer. 800w for this, 600w for the 410, 300w for the 210, 250w for the 115. They're 1990s numbers.
Great sound……and properly reviewed with a proper player. Variation in playing styles is crucial in a demo!! This cab will be a winner I feel if they price it right.
I was really hoping to hear some low B through this baby...disappointed again... With the 8-8's, I really don't see the need for a tweet though...many of the current generation cabs all want to put tweets in them, and they all sound a tad brittle. If you want power chords, go play guitar! Great vid brother, I always enjoy your facial expressions!!!
I love you guys and your videos are amazing! But this demo could really use some bass playing. Every demo sounds like a guitar. Not dissing at all and grateful for this channel 👍
@@basstheworldofficialI think you should have a little of both types of playing in each video. That way everyone gets to hear an example of what might actually be useful to them. For me, slapping and finger tapping will never represent what I might do, so the review is not as helpful. But, if you had a blend of finger style clean, slapping, finger tapping, dirty sounds, etc. then you would allow every style of player to hear something relevant to them.

the crunchy tone in the beginning oh yes
The primus vibes were strong in that intro jam!
I really would like an A B comparation beetwen 810 and 88
I miss seeing your dad.
Frank? 😂
😅😅
SWR did one of these: they called it Henry the 8x8.
And sound amazing tbh

I still love my fridge. Heavy but so is the tone.
René rocks. That crunchy tone with his playing is magic.
However, where has Frank been?
he'll be back in late september
@@basstheworldofficial I'll give an amen to that. 😎
I see René, I press like.
How many cold ones does this fridge hold? We - bassists - are a thirsty bunch.
The Halo through that rig....Wow!
Good tones ❤❤❤❤

For the same price... Get a barefaced... 1200 watts, 17kg, smaller and also good for Irish setups.
Have you ever reviewed any maybach basses? Their p basses look so good!

Sure. But you have EIGHT of them. ;-)

I’ve loved Ampeg all of my life but I never got into the sound of the 8-10 or this 8-8 cabinet. It sounds to me like the speakers aren’t in sync.
Sounds good but no where near as light as GR Bass. Their Aerotech 8 x 10 is 23kg (50.7 lbs) and sound amazing.
Different price point but I agree. The GR Aerotech also has way more power handling. I would just save up a little more and get one of those.
33Kg… yeah - no. The GRBass 4x10 is 1200WRMS and weighs…12Kg and sounds pretty great.
If only this had been around 30 years ago…
why would you mix in DI in a cab demo
I think the soap and chords sounds have been interchanged in the video.
How did Ampeg keep the weight down to 67 lbs?
neodymium drivers and probably thinner baltic birch ply
Great sound……and properly reviewed with a proper player. Variation in playing styles is crucial in a demo!! This cab will be a winner I feel if they price it right.
Well, the thing is light but it remains bulky. You can find better solutions for the stage and transport by car like this dinosaur format for 1900€.
Why did they use a speakon that no one has?!

Last week someone complained that we had a normal bass player and no one plays fancy stuff. I guess there’s no way to please everyone every time

wow that's an expensive cab xD
if it needs wheels.... ????
👍👌
❤❤❤

why do you never actually play?
no hands
@@basstheworldofficial 🤔
I love the way Ampeg describes it as Ultra Lightweight. 67lbs! It's only somewhat lighter than the heaviest fridge out there: its 8x10 sibling.
I've owned two fridges in my life, all in the 130 pound range
@@edwardmooneyhan1928 Yikes, I didn't realize they were quite _that_ dense.
"Somewhat lighter"????
It's less than half the weight.
This was obviously a.shill commenting not having any info
Dude, a 810 is like 120+ pounds. Heck, a typical 410 is about 80 to 90 pounds
