Everything else has been a massive misunderstanding."
Is this supposed to be what male-targeted romance anime looks like to women? A monster buys you and then you inexplicably fall in love with it and everyone just treats the whole situation like it's normal and to be expected? Makes sense to me!
The most cursed thing about this anime isn't so much the subject material, but the fact that the end credits account for nearly one third of each episodes total length.
You gave this series much more life than i could have ever expected, such entertainment for free is incredible, i love your energy and wording it's absolutely incredible, subscribed
Just one question: WTF did I just watch!? PS: From now on, whenever I feel insecure about my stories being worth writing; I just have to remember someone wrote a whole series about a boy married to a moomin...
I stumbled upon this ages ago while I was sick with a fever and couldn't sleep. I don't know whether to be relieved or worried that this wasn't a sleep deprived fever dream.
I remember see this show when was aired and no thinking at all about anything what happen, but now i can't stop making theories about what is happened reached to the conclusion that the Moomin has some class of passive mind wash ability to make everyone accepting like a normal thing after of enough time in his presence (in the first episodes the extras was scared of them but after that they just don't care at all) and that they just try to mimic humans behaviors without understand the reason behind that or maybe this is al part of a plan where the they use his husbands as a way to propagate his existence a something normal to take all the town
The thing that has me sitting down and contemplating about the existence of this series is that the age of consent in Japan is 16. So by Japan's standards according to the law, they wouldn't be child brides. That doesn't make me want to keel over and pass way any less though!
Incorrect! While the age of concent in Japan is 16, that only means they could fuck (under very narrow circumstances) and it would be legal. To marry in Japan, you need to be 18.
I can only imagine that these creatures possess mind-manipulation powers, having emerged from some kind of hellish dimension and invaded human society, warping it into...this. An absolutely *frightening* concept if you ask me.
😂 your explanation of the anime kept me more entertained than it’s own summary would have. My tiny adhd brain focused for one video of sheer confusion as to why everyone who should be horrified sees this as normal and the onlookers are instead the ones horrified. My curiosity is getting the better of me and I want to read the manga now 😱
"This is 16-year-old Tamorihinoa, in two and a half minutes, he will be married to a Moomin" That literally broke me. I made a noise that could be felt physically and mentally, I am less okay than I was before, and that was already bad enough.
And yet, somehow.... They have a year anniversary before his next birthday.. I'm confused, but quite honestly, at this point... what does any of this matter?

Honestly, that was me throughout the entire video. Like WTF is a moomin!!!! Does anyone know if they ever explain it? I don’t think I have it in me watch the show to find out. 😅
17:43 - For serious, though, that _is_ a bit disturbing. Like, imagine if a bunch of alien beings just show up, immediately integrate in human society and start enforcing bizarre customs for poorly understood reasons, and _nobody finds it strange or worrying._ To the point where even people who entertain the thought that maybe these creatures are literal demons only do so jokingly. Almost as if their subconscious is trying to warn them about it but _something_ doesn't allow them to take it seriously.
The sentence I'm says that there are A LOT of them recently, not that they only showed up recently. Given Lauchen is regarded as a local deity, creatures of this sort have been around for a while(legal framework existing for them is proof of this), but the population has suddenly increased as of the time the story begins.
This could be a cool horror concept where you find yourself in a town where everyone acts like monters that recently appeared and are abducting children is normal and just go on with thier lives
@@rustycrowbar4250 I mean, I feel like a little editing and a change of music would make it feel like a horror show in no time. It's interesting philosophically because it's like some kinda weird glimpse into a different civilization entirely where the things considered "normal" is just plain freaky to us. It weirdly evokes a certain feeling for me that's probably like what Columbus felt when he first landed in the Americas.
I appreciate that there was no victim-blaming aimed at the child wives. They are helpless against the forces that compell them to be sold to (literal) monsters who perversely use them for shampooing and hugging
It's kind of weird that the only monster that has precedent to do and get away with this is the misfortune eating shrine snake god thing, since it wouldn't be surprising for it to demand some sort of spousal sacrifice in exchange for good fortune and services. Every other monster has zero precedent to get away with this since they all seem to do nothing, provide nothing, and have no leeway to get away with their childnapping. This actually would have been a very interesting story if all of the monsters were minor gods who are providing some sort of benefit to society in exchange for spouses to serve as a fictionalized social commentary on power dynamics conflicting with moral values...but the vast majority of the monsters are just walking, pointless jokes.
All the other wives were picked but from this videos synopsis [never actually watched it] Sitka (Spelling might be wrong but bandage moomin) seemed like they were forced by their child bride.
I've read this (don't ask) and the worst part is that everyone is Obsessed with the giant snake to the point where his wife is jealous. Something isnt right here.
i actually remember watching this back in highschool. i thought it was really wholesome... because i was 16 or 17 and didnt realize the implications. its so sad, it could really be this weird cute miniseries if not for the age gap, which, for such a weird premise, youd think would be the least of the worries, but here we are....
@@ok472 not that I know of but because the boys are in high school the implications are kinda sketchy, intended or not. i feel like it would have worked better with like college students
This is like something you would read on the SCP wiki. A town umder a cognito-hazard where bizarre creatures arrive, go to the local high school, demand one of the kids marry it.. and everyone is fine with this. Even the bride him/herself is fine with it.
Dear god... you have cracked the code!!! But not only that, the record of such an event is its own cognitohazard... but what effects I cannot yet determine, except that it is messing with my mind!!
The creatures seem to have some sort of effect on the minds of their victims, immediately brainwashing them into being their "wife" As of yet there is no known reason as to why they do this, as they don't seem to need to procreate, but... I don't want to imagine such horrors. Get Dr. Bright with the chainsaw cannon ASAP
The ominous intro punctuated by sentences like "in two and a half minutes... he will be married to a moomin" followed by an ever distressed tone is so entertaining. I particularly like how you described watching sick anime almost as a pandemic which you happen to have brought to US.
Your presentation of this cursed story was very entertaining - it sounds like you had a lot of fun making it. Felt like you could have started laughing at more than a few points. I am not sure if the existence of this story has made my life more enjoyable... but listening to the way you describe it certainly has! Your articulation was a treat, as always. Thanks fam.
this was conceptualized, illustrated, noticed and approved, signed off by an executive, animated, and presumably passed through a few more sets of eyes beyond that. the contents of this slice-of-life high school drama demon-pedo-boywife-arranged-marriage-show were, if not actively constructed by all involved, tacitly endorsed by a lot of people. it makes me feel like i'm missing something.
It's sorta based off of folk lore (I think commonly japanese) where mythical creatures seem to demand brides as payment or for safety, so I think that aspect of it sorta makes it kinda interesting, and not a completely random idea.
This video is so fucking funny. The delivery, the jokes stacking on top of each other like a precarious tower of books going up to the ceiling, the building hysteria every time the snake showed up in the anime, the increasing resignation to events as the episode recaps continue... I kept having to pause to giggle and then immediately choke on more laughter at the very next sentence when I unpaused. Maybe my new favorite UA-cam video.

What the fuck did I just watch. Was the elevator pitch for this series "sexual tension with a pokemon knockoff and their child bride trainer."

Though this wretched concept of a story dares to exist and shrivel up our eyeballs, your humoristic way of explaining it was so entertaining, it left me WHEEZING! Thank you so much! 🤗
This video is a piece of art, I will die on this hill while laughing uncontrollably whenever I watch it. Thank you so much.
okay, for anyone wanting to know what's actually going on, according to tvtropes: " these aren't intended to be marriages, wealthy Japanese families are adopting minor Kami into their families as a form of legal tax evasion since the government has a bunch of tax loopholes for families with multiple species. Everything else has been a massive misunderstanding."
Is this supposed to be what male-targeted romance anime looks like to women? A monster buys you and then you inexplicably fall in love with it and everyone just treats the whole situation like it's normal and to be expected? Makes sense to me!
I'm never going to watch or read this, but I'm glad it exists. I can tell the author of the manga must have had a blast drawing it.
I cracked up every time you would say "WHAT ARE YOU?!" in reference to the snake moomin
I stumbled upon this ages ago while I was sick with a fever and couldn't sleep. I don't know whether to be relieved or worried that this wasn't a sleep deprived fever dream.
Am I high on mushrooms? Even secondhand, this show’s a drug trip.
Your way of storytelling is on a masterclass level of genius.
I dunno why but the deadpan way you said "in 2 minutes he will be married to a Moomin" just absolutely made me lose it

I was channeling him hard when I made this. He makes such good stuff.
Love how he calls the Moomin the “wretched Kenenogi”
I can only imagine that these creatures possess mind-manipulation powers, having emerged from some kind of hellish dimension and invaded human society, warping it into...this. An absolutely *frightening* concept if you ask me.
Anime is a terrifying genre tbh. Like obviously there’s a lot of good stuff out there but it’s also host to stuff like,,, this.
😂 your explanation of the anime kept me more entertained than it’s own summary would have. My tiny adhd brain focused for one video of sheer confusion as to why everyone who should be horrified sees this as normal and the onlookers are instead the ones horrified. The truth
The truth is the new normal
17:43 - For serious, though, that _is_ a bit disturbing. Like, imagine if a bunch of alien beings just show up, immediately integrate in human society and start enforcing bizarre customs for poorly understood reasons, and _nobody finds it strange or worrying._ To the point where even people who entertain the thought that maybe these creatures are literal demons only do so jokingly. Almost as if their subconscious is trying to warn them about it but _something_ doesn't allow them to take it seriously.
This is some Night Vale level horror.
I am convinced that they can warp minds and reality
Sound like Colonialism
My honest reaction to people (i have not been hurt yet they must be good)
The sentence I'm says that there are A LOT of them recently, not that they only showed up recently. Given Lauchen is regarded as a local deity, creatures of this sort have been around for a while(legal framework existing for them is proof of this), but the population has suddenly increased as of the time the story begins.
This whole anime is basically just gaslighting the audience into thinking everything happening is normal and okay, and yet I can’t look away
This could have been a lot more acceptable if you just... replace "wife" and "husband" with "Roommate" or "Familiar"

Dear god... you have cracked the code!!! But not only that, the record of such an event is its own cognitohazard... but what effects I cannot yet determine, except that it is messing with my mind!!
