congrats on 100k
You asked for it, you got it, Arlong and Buggy as well as Sanji joining the crew.
The bounties are insane where we are, the East Blue.
I love watching reactors joke about how Zeff lost his leg then reel in horror when their joke becomes real.
Angela: "Maybe don't announce your attacks every time"
Every anime author in Japan: "Are you out of your freaking mind?!"
Some of the best fighters announce their finishing moves 😏
It's such a trope. A trope I've gone through a like-dislike-laugh relationship with. But I can't help but love that this adaptation calls it out, when it fact the source material was part of what made it such a trope in the first place.
@@TheUndeadFish Yeah I like those jokes and for me it depends on the show. It can be fitting for some and weird for others, but overall I'm used to it. But I like when it makes no sense to do it and they just don't.
@@funnylilgalreactsin the manga and subseqently anime it is because more elaborate attacks are hard to draw, so for the younger viewers/readers there is a caption, which with time transformed into a character announcing their attack.
Its mostly used in battle shounen.
I always pictured the attack announcements as inside their heads because yelling it out seemed so awkward and weird. The second-hand embarrassment for that is real. But I really liked how this show handled it as a little tongue in cheek. Made it less awkward
Fun fact the actor of Zeff has been Sanji's actor (Taz Skylar) mentor throughout the beginning of his acting career so everytime i watch the goodbye scene it carry so much more weight to it, they really did a good job with it ! Also Taz Skylar recommended Craig Fairbass for the role of Zeff so it's going full circle, beautiful story
Its a huge coincidence that Taz recommened Craig because he had experience and chemistry with him, and at the same time Craig is literally the closest thing to real life Zeff
Re Garp's hat: Man walks down the street wearing a hat like that, you know he's not afraid of anything.
the original reason for the hat was that oda intruduced luffy's granfather in the beta version of the comics and later didn't wanted to show his face to keep it secret (because the design didn't change in between beta nad final versions)
Shiny!
Damn straight!
I think they captured him, though. You know? Captured his essence.
Looks sorta angry, don’t he?
That’s kinda what I meant.
@@happyslapsgiving5421This must be what going mad feels like.
I love that Luffy can remember what Zoro said from the cross because it was his dream but he can't remember what Zoro's sword is called.
I like to think he just heard 'what a itchy monkey'.
it's a thing for lufffy that he has perfect memory for his crew and doesn't bother to remember anything else
"I did not know 2 new characters could affect me so quickly" Welcome to One Piece.
That's the One Piece effect, or why I cry for this character if I hate him just to chapter before this one
Watching One Piece be like: "Why is this weird fat gangster dressed like a baby?"
**10 minutes later**
😦😧😨😱😭😭😭😭😭😭
@@PrototypeSpaceMonkey
I was about to write "wait until she learns about the diaper guy"... 😅
@@happyslapsgiving5421 I literally always laugh at him for how many episodes when he shows up in-screen, but then that one episode literally just made me feel bad at myself lol. Like its literally deep down in the story and we know how the story of One Piece works. But everytime, Oda always get us with the same trick no matter how many episodes we are in the series!
“thank you for taking your shirt off” you’re so real for that😭
Super weird since she was cringing not even 2 episodes ago over Sanji being nice to Nami.
@@VW20-bq9in one of Sanji’s most frequently recurring traits is that he is so effortlessly cool but he acts like an idiot around women. He does manage to be genuinely smooth sometimes but he almost always lays it on a bit too thick and that is what she was reacting to then. Nothin weird about it
It's OK to demean and sexualize men and not women duh
I love how much you love den den mushi / transponder snails. Most peoppe have found them weird (minus Nami's itty bitty), but ultimately accepted them.
People don't like them!!!!??? I think they are adorable!
@@funnylilgalreacts They're less "uncanny valley" in the manga and anime. I think it's the teeth tbh...
For Angela, it’s Buggy. For most *other* people it’s the snails…
But, there’s always something here you don’t know if you like, until you do. And it’s *impressive* that a live-action for this of all stories can make anything it does, work.
I find them very reminiscent of Rygel from Farscape.
@@funnylilgalreacts They grow on everyone in the end! It's just one of those quirks of the One Piece world that catch people off guard, I think. I know us manga/anime One Piece fans were THRILLED to have them, though.
Fishskin is anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial, it supports and improves woundhealing in a variety of wounds, fishskin grafts are oftenly used on patient suffering from burnwounds (sometimes even maggots are used on really badly burned patients to clear the skin)
Maggots are interesting because they almost exclusively prefer necrotic flesh. You can put maggots on a necrotic wound and they will only eat the bad stuff, leaving the healthy flesh untouched. If they're sterile going in, it's a great preventative measure
4:00 "Wounds in the back is a swordsman's greatest shame" is a duelist's creed and it applies to both parties. It means GETTING a wound on the back implies cowardly running away but it also means GIVING a wound on the back means it was an underhanded sneak attack from behind. Mihawk believes that Zoro saying that creed means that Zoro has no underlying motive to defeating Mihawk. He truly wants to be better than him as a warrior and not some basic enemy.
Oregano is for SAVAGES (I love that line lol)
Kuina's sword is the "Wada Ichimonji". It roughly translates to "Straight line through the path of harmony." Luffy calls it the "Water Itchy Monkey" because he's, uhh, kind of dumb. I mean don't get me wrong, I love Luffy! But, you know . . . he's kind of dumb.
Makes him even more lovable. LoL
he says water? I though he says something different
Wado Ichimonji*
oh man, if you were crushed by Sanji's backstory, you are not ready for Nami's...
I was indeed not ready
It was not that bad. Her mom just got sent to a dungeon, for the rest of her days.
@@LiquidusSnakeX Yeah, and after her mother was brutaly murdered in front of her she had to live for years with the people who did it, work for them since a child, alone in the sea, stealing from people and risking her life. And why? Because the person who killed her mother is threatening to kill every other person Nami loves. And she has to do all of that with a smile on her face and pretending those fish are her family. Oh well, but at least she's not a skeleton.
@@LiquidusSnakeX"If you can't pay the cash then you're out with the trash! And feel free to quote me!" 😂 The 4kids dub is so ridiculous it sometimes feels like it couldn't have been real
@@ItsJustAkaSpoiler! FFS!
every time you cry we all cry 😭❤️
Accurate.
Damn contagious!
Well... let's get ready to cry again next week, then. 😏
Mihawk is not the slightest bit scared of Garp.
Also, a tidbit of horrific information.
Zeff gave Sanji the only knife. It's why Zeff used a sharp rock to cut his leg off.
Zeff gave Sanji the knife so that IF Zeff ever got hungry enough to try to eat Sanji, Sanji would have had more food, strength, and a weapon to fight back with, while Zeff would have only his hands.
Zeff knew how bad being marooned could be.
Zoro: Wado Ichimonji 😐
Luffy: ..... Wadai Ichy Monkey 🤗✅
idk what it is, but watching 2 hardened characters that are too stubborn to say exactly what they feel, to finally open up and cry and especially in emotional goodbyes is a really really good trope and it gets me crying every time
Right? “This is so cliché!” I said, through tears.
From clown hater to wanting Buggy in The Straw Hat Crew, now that's some character progression.
When she got alittle emotional at zeff telling them to talk to show Zoro they are still still with him. I knew she was gonna to ball at the sanji leaving scene
The fact that Luffy didn't stand in the way of Zorro risking his life for his dream, was in my opinion, a main reason Zorro now was willing to follow him. Because he knew for sure, it wouldn't stand in the way of his promise to become the greatest swordsman.
And that wasn't the real name of the sword. Luffy can't even remember Buggy's name. Let alone the sword ^^
The live action actually made me love Sanji. I’m not a huge fan of what I saw of him in the anime. His specific character trope was annoying. But the live action actually made me like him. His backstory is still so brutal though.
And thus, the reveal. I can not wait until next episode.
Love how Luffy is always ready to jump at the opportunity to eat but this episode he's so worried he puts food in second place. Also the fish skin on wounds is a technique that was researched (maybe created if I'm not mistaken) here in Brazil. :)
I don't think you can pinpoint the location where it was first created. As many other ethnomedicinal pratices, fish skin have been used in many places throughout history ( "old seaman's trick" and all). But Brazil and Iceland seem to be the frontrunners in modern research and medical use of fish skin.
an analogy for buggy's devil fruit power could be something like sombody able to use a 4th spatial dimension. While his body parts are detached they are still 1 body, so if he eats, the food goes where it normally does. After all, he's still able to breathe, so that means his lungs still work like normal.
he's clothes also remain whole. don't ask about that too many questions tbh
I wonder if anyone has asked Oda-sensei about this in a SBS?
Buggy will help the Straw Hats get “ahead” in their search for Nami…
People like Buggy are in “short” supply.
Always the red nose people who are leading the way,
With Buggy, they are REDdy to go find Nami
Buggy "knows" the way to Nami.
@@KoreasTina Better get to it. Chop chop.
Sanji saying goodbye to Zeff was the first time i truly cried in the anime. i had gotten teary eyed over Usopp joining and learning about Kuina, but Sanji saying "thank you for everything" genuinely got the waterworks pumping. ofc by now i've cried probably hundreds of times over this story but i'll always remember that first one
Here is each gag of the strawhats pirates ✨️
Luffy - Liking Meat, Being Dumb.
Zoro - Loves for booze and always getting lost in(anime/manga)
Nami - Loves for money.
Sanji - Liking every woman.
Ussop - Telling lies.
zoro in the beginning alsohad a special thing for grandiloquence and drama. there are little bits of that in the la but unfortunately not that much
Not *EVERY* woman.
Just the pretty ones.
Actually, Zoro does have a truly ridiculous “lost” moment in the live action, but it’s more subtle. If you pay attention in ep 3, you can see that the well he got tossed in is like, 20-30 feet from the house. So it’s definitely a manga/anime level joke when he shows up to punch out Helmeppo as they’re dragging Luffy away in episode 4.
Congrats on hitting 100K subs Keep up the good work Angela!
Thank YOU!
this live action really try to remind their viewers that this show can be brutal at times but it has heart and that's one of the reason why am a long time one piece fans and glad that they did their best to make this live action be enjoyable for old and new fans...
Not sure if mentioned yet but Netflix has the Garp Snail Phone up on its store.
STOP IT

Waiting for the Dolfy Snail with the glasses
Young Sanji’s actor has been on a roll these past years; he was in this, ”Cocaine Bear” and the criminally undervalued ”Sweet Tooth”
Wado Ichimonji -> Water Itchy Monkey 😅
Season 2 will be starting to get filmed from June. The pre production has been almost done, the scripts are ready, and hopefully for season 3 as well.
New sets are being built, including a very huge one, which could either be an important one or just a huge green screen.
I went back to see if Buggy's ear was missing after episode 2, and it turns out they never let you get a clear look at the right side of his head! Sneaky sneaky.
I love how new fans can bond with newly introduced characters in an episode or two. The live action team really did something special when they were making the episodes to capture the source material's handling of side characters. It's crazy that the show is down to like 10% characters but they had to make it work and organically weave a lot of rewritten scenes that would have been originally delivered by cut characters. Understandably, there are ani/manga fans that were disappointed when these side characters are also cool and beloved but the show is an overwhelming success despite that understandable criticism. I cannot imagine how the pace would've went if the writers and directors are bogged down by juggling multiple side characters.
I dunno if you're planning on checking out the anime Angela but what I want to say is that if you do, you'll be in for a different ride even for the arcs you've already seen on the live action. Very old animation and pacing issues aside, you'll probably find a side character you'd love with all your heart and then not see them again for hundreds of episodes which is a common heartache for the One Piece community. A thousand plus episodes might sound and look daunting but living all of that with Luffy and the crew is one of peak fiction experiences.
So im not sure if anyone has commented on it yet...but there is a very good reason why Garp trained Luffy the way he did( in the manga..trying him to ballons and letting go...leaving him in the jungle at night...training with monkeys and throwing him down a ravine)...also Sanji's fighting style is referred to as Black Leg style...Zeff's was called Red Leg style for obvious reasons
You keep saying what you want, and I love knowing what happens.
"Who's doing laundry?" That one was so unexpected that it cracked me up!
Regardless, your unique zaniness and enthusiastic fan-girl'ing keep bringing me back for more, and as a result I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of your unreserved reactions to both this series and other beloved ones in the future! 😁
Really enjoying your reactions to this series and I know the last two episodes are gonna be fantastic. Thanks for this series, I adored the character arcs here. I also loved that Sanji's farewell was both emotional and true to the character, he was swear-y and insulting but so sincere too.
"Ew the friends are weird" this is why fishmen hate humans, Angela
fun fact, the sanji actor learned how to cook, trained and watched the anime for his role, we love him
I kept calling Zeff Captain Cook at first, but I really loved his and Sanji’s backstory, that was just brilliant storytelling. I love One Piece so much!
The connection Sanji and Zeff is such a hugely emotional hit, and it's like that with a lot of pivotal characters throughout the One Piece series having a huge impact on their relationships. With Season 2 being already confirmed and in the works, I can't wait to see what they'll fit into those episodes. I dunno if Netflix will allow a Season 3 when Season 2 becomes a hugely successful series, despite the high cost budgets it would take to film more live-action scenes and such. We don't know how long until Netflix just decides it quits suddenly during production half-way through creation a 3rd or even 4th if it can be allowed to go that far, because they have something really good right now in their hands, and I'd hate to see them blow it.
One thing that I think is missed about Garp’s relationship with Luffy can be pointed all the way back to the first scene in the show. Garp knows what happens to pirates - even if Luffy is a “different” kind of pirate, in the eyes of the government he’s not going to be treated differently than all the others.
ooooooooooo *NEXT EPISODE IS THE THING*
Buggy D. Clown.. future king of the pirates 🏴☠️.
Congrats on 100k! 🎉 Keep up the good work!
Congratulations on 100K!! Well deserved!
they really did well with zeff and sanjis relationship here, and im glad you felt so connected to them this episode!! i cant even imagine how much youd cry when watching the goodbye scene in the anime, because that one is even more heartwrenching lol. in general, in the anime, every sad scene is multiples more sad because they reaaally take their time with making your heart bleed :D and now the next 2 episodes are my favourites together with episode 5, so im very excited to see you react to them next yay!!!
The scene in the end so much better in the anime
Wait... when did you hit 100k? Congratulations, Angela!!! 🥳
Wednesday!!! Thank yoooooou!
This show hits you in the feels so many times.
One Piece has already made you cry. I've cried plenty of times in the anime.
Congrats on your 100k achievement!
I haven't seen the video yet, but I knew there would be some tear flowing with this one.
I love Sanji's goodbye to Zeff, makes me cry every time. I also love Buggy's "shidiots" insult.
I love the reveal that Buggy stuck his ear in Luffy’s hat. That’s so clever. Nami is reading Zoro “Noland the Liar.” It's a storybook/fairy tale that comes up later in the series. It's such a fantastic easter egg!
Hopeful we get more Noland in Season 2
@@MrRourk If anything it would be season 3
“How does he know he’s lost a lot of blood?”
Oh, I dunno, maybe the massive 40cm long gaping wound on his chest might have tipped him off haha
Was waiting for that moment on the rock ro impact you. And your in for a fun ride for the last two episodes.
I discovered you a few days ago, I am watching a lot of your vids since, and I think I rarely cried that much ^^ Il love your heart, so big that he appears in every of your moves (specially when you are searching for tissues XD), and your empathy is incredible. I want to hug you so much every time you melt in tears 🤗
Never have I ever been so happy to see a man eat his own leg. This was not in the anime but it was in the manga.
This episode was so emotional for no reason lmao
In the anime Zeff tells Sanji “don’t catch a cold” rather than “you keep your feet dry”. I liked the line in the anime, but the live action still gave the same emotional feeling of the departure.
I thought it was an ironic line from a guy whose reputation is literally blood soaked boots 😂
@@ms-literary6320 I am unfamiliar with the manga and the anime, but it very much felt like a "be a better man than me" kind of advice which I really liked
"Keep your feet dry" is sailor saying "dont get sick", so its practically the same.
Congratulations for 100k subs 🎉. You deserve it, you're the best youtuber everr ❤
Angela : "I don't know if that's this kind of show..."

Wooohoooo 100k!!!! WAY TO GO!!!!! CONGRATS!
Such a powerful episode and they just keep getting better. Great reaction, congrats on 100k!
as soon as the Sanji backstory revealed the leg it was clear that all that abuse he was heaping on sanji was literally trying to drive him away to go look for the All Blue!
Congrats on 100k!!! Happy to see your channel grow as I remember when you only had 1k subs well deserved. Have a great day
Well before the next video goes up congrats on 100k subscribers you really deserve it👏👏🎉🎉
The girl that plays Cobi is so adorable 💖💯😊
Luffy calls Zoro's sword (Kuina's old sword) the Wady Itchy Monkey. It does have a proper name which I believe is glazed over fairly quickly in this series; Wado Ichimonji, which, in Japanese, translates to "Straight Line through the Path of Harmony."
Having not watched the anime, I believe the answer to "why is Garp trying to stop him from being a pirate" will very much have to do with who Luffy's father is.
One Piece always have great lines
Congratulations on reaching 100k subs, Angela. And I see you teared up to Sanji's backstory as well as the goodbye scene at the end. One Piece, like Avatar and many other franchises you reacted to is a show that's known for pulling on your heartstrings.
Really enjoying your reactions to this series!
Just to clarify: The All Blue, which Sanji has made it his goal in life to find, is a fabled region of the ocean. It's rumoured to be a home not only to rare spices (as you mentioned), but also to unique fish, as well as fish from all over the world, meaning the four known seas.
This is significant, because these four seas (the East, West, North and South Blue) are all separated from each other by nearly impassable natural boundaries, so normally fish in one Blue can't travel freely to any other. And transporting seafood artificially from one sea to another is probably very costly and inefficient. So to have fish from all around the world ready at hand, perfectly fresh, would be a dream come true for a sea cook like Sanji -- it would allow him to mix and combine different kinds of seafood in unheard-of combinations, and to introduce incredible new dishes to the world.
According to the comics, Zeff travelled the Grand Line for over a year with his Cook Pirates, in search of the All Blue. He never found it, but with all the amazing things he saw there, he was convinced that the rumours of it have to be true. If the All Blue is anywhere, it's on the Grand Line.
Also, the white sword that Zoro carries (bequeathed to him by Kuina's father) is actually called the Wado Ichi-monji. Luffy tried his best, but given that he can't even get Buggy's name right, one can't expect him to handle the sword's name 😁
22:30
Luffy: "I have never experienced this level of betrayal before in my life. It's like my heart has been ripped out and stomped into the dirt. I am a broken man."
Every One Piece LA reactor ever: 👀😍
Funnylilgalreacts Such A Awesome Video/Episode Today!!🔥🐐🐐💎
Fantastic episode and reaction. Looking forward to your reactions to the next two.
Love this episode so touching ❤
This episode has some of the best character writing in the season and also better than most shows in general, such an amazing series and this was one of my favorite episodes, just 1 more character arc they have not covered yet, and she will be next, cant wait to see your reactions on the last 2 episodes of the season.
I love Sanji and Zeff! Their relationship is very "classic stereotypical men- can't show feelings" thing. Till it's too much they both go "ah fuck it I love you man"!
Never had a show that made me cry like a baby. Like One Piece😂 the writing is just magic
Ooop fave episode I am stoked to see what you thought bc if I know anything it’s that there will be actual BAWLING this episode
13:11 points for me 😃
26:33 double it 😂
Sanji only uses his feet for fighting, because, as he always says, his hands are for cooking.
You starting to react to the anime is just like Thanos… INEVITABLE
Wanda Itchy Monkey is how Luffy pronounces Zoro's surviving sword, the Wado Ichimonji.
And the one sword that really isn’t replaceable to him.
I agree with almost everything you have to say about this show... except your feelings for Zef's moustache. I am sorry but that is one of the finest of all time.
An interesting tidbit is that in the anime adaptation, they just changed it so that Zeff lost his leg in the chaos of the ships being sunk, sacrificing it to save Sanji from drowning, so he didn't eat anything at all the entire time they were shipwrecked. Though honestly that's far from the craziest thing that happens in this series anyway.
Bonus fun fact, Sanji's original name was going to be Naruto, but a certain manga about a ninja had started around that time and hit it off, so the author ended up changing it to Sanji instead. And honestly I couldn't imagine Sanji with any other name!
Nami’s backstory in the next episode is what-the-fudge level heartbreaking, get the tissues ready 🙉🫣
Do rest of the episodes. I like your pure reactions to One Piece.
I don't think it counts as a spoiler because I arrived at this interpretation when I watched this very episode: If you remember that Garp was present during Gold Roger's execution (the previous "King of the Pirates") it starts making sense that he wants to stop his overly enthusiastic grandson from pursuing that same title and, potentially, ending up the same way.
The whole crew has really good stories =)
i believe i heard they are starting filming next month on season 2
