Not that I am a fan of China, God knows it's a serious threat to all of Asia but India is a regressive society that adheres to mediaeval values, oppressing hundreds of millions of its own citizens just because of different religion or just for being born untouchable. India is only booming because India is selfishly and cynically buying cheap Russian oil, helping prolong the suffering of Ukraine.

Here is the reality. Unless China's GDP growth rate falls to negative or in total collapse, but if they grow by 4.2% per annum, then India must grow by at least 19.98% to keep the difference of the two countries' GDP gap unchanged at $14.44 trillion. Because China's GDP in 2023 was $17.76 trillion. That's 4.758 times of India's $3.732 trillion. 4.2% X 4.758= 19.98%. Even India's GDP growth rate is at 21% per annum, it will be only $37.5 billion more than China a year. So $14.44t/$37.5b (14440/37.5) =385, even working it out using compound rate, India still needs at least 200 years to catch up with China!

As an Indian, of course we have a long long way to go, and nothing to be taken for granted. If the Indian economy grows at 8% real for the next decade, then we have some heft. We know what happened to Argentina, Japan and possibly China. I think the big difference between India and China is that, Indian politics ultimately is about improving the quality of our lives, more than anything, and that makes peace and prosperity necessary, while the PRC government tells their military "Prepare for War", every single year. People here don't realize that dictatorships always go to war when their internal economy crumbles. Taiwan War may not be as far off as it seems. I think Germany and the EU made historic mistakes by depending on Russia and the PRC. In the short term they saw steep growth, but they could not prevent the Ukraine War and perhaps another debt crisis arising from the Belt and Road initiatives.

India growing at 10% will still add less value to economy than china growing at 4% . These are mathematical realities. Also China is entering new industies where profit margins ar going to be much higher defence equipment, passenger jets , high speed railway , nuclear reactors these are going to be the chinese exports of this decade , compared to Shoes, textiles, plastics, consumer electronics which they exported in the last decade . Why this Indian girl Isha is so pissed off with PM Modi and India 🤔 Maybe she is not ready to accept the reality that India has arrived, under the leadership of PM Modi. And German needs to change their view on India and minority living in India. They voted for PM and its a democracy so its high time that German should stop interfering in Indian social system.

India is small compared to China’s size and ambition. India cannot be where today’s China is in even 20 years. China is way ahead in science and technology. India has something that China has long lost - our rich culture. India does not need max GDP growth to catch up to anyone. We need to grow in a manner that respects nature.

In the report on Indu, DW mentions" Indian claimed territory" as being disputed. Actually China claims Arunchal Pradesh, an Indian state in NE as South Tibet and has renamed many towns and features. So actually China claims Indian held territories also as it's own, a stark difference between the approaches of both the countries. Moreover China is not inclined in demarcating the border as it wants to keep the issue alive.

Yet the most valuable possession we were robbed of was not the Kohinoor Diamond but our pride & belief in our own capabilities."
He added, “Because the goal of colonisation-its most insidious impact-is to convince its victims of their inferiority. Which is why investing in BOTH toilets AND space exploration is not a contradiction. Sir, what going to the moon does for us is that it helps restore our pride & self-confidence. It creates belief in progress through science. It gives us the aspiration to lift ourselves out of poverty. The greatest poverty is the poverty of aspiration…"

We don't know if they are inflated. When you look at massive Chinese infrastructure and projects, it does seem to match the numbers.
As an Indian, I can tell you, there is reason to worry about our long term prospects (next 25 years to 50 years). The biggest reason I feel is inequality to access the quality education and then the education system itself. The poor education quality in government schools which despite offering much higher (twice or thrice ) salaries to its teachers, are worse off than private schools. The middle class does not trust FREE government schools run by Indian provinces (there are some run by the Central government, maybe just 0.1% or 1%) and sends kids to private schools which have significant fees (perhaps equal to an average of 10-15% of their total income, for 2 kids). And so, in India, usually the kids of the poor and kids of the middle class do not study together(not taking into account the small government mandated quota for poor in private schools).
That's about the pre-college education i.e. up to 12th grade. (Grades typically start with -3. We call it Nursery, Lower Kitergarden, Upper Kindergarten before 1st standard).
Now coming to college, the government colleges are a preferred choice and have lower fees, and they are usually better than the privately owned ones. But these are not enough and overall there is a big percentage of college graduates in the STEM area who are not employable. And then there is a big percentage which is unemployable because they have a degree in subjects like geography and history or an Indian language and even English language which often cannot give you a job.
My point is that very soon the Indian centre and states need to wake up and work together to overhaul the education system otherwise we becoming a healthy economy will remain a pipe dream.
