I´d LIKE to say - "Never happened to me, genius." Buuuut... Been there done that. Not that badly, though, just a "quick" 15 minutes of walking away XD I had my own traveller chars, starting somewhere else, far, far away, but moving to Goldshire (for Roleplay reasons, but also because I knew every nook and crannie there). Imagine forgetting to set hearth after you´ve done all THAT. OOOF. That would mean a forced break for a few hours to me. Maybe punching some pillows and howl like a mad man. The standard stuff, you know ?
I DID THE SAME! See the Goldshire Innkeeper! Just for fun, I would start a new 'toon and spend the whole night trying to outwit all the critters who were killing me......One night I "swam" all the way to the north end of the continent........Then I would take the deal to rez at a strange Spirit Guide. The toughest run was through the Barrens with a new Orc.... Ah man, the weird shit we do for fun.....
Me: *starts watching* "This is suprisingly detailed, Is he really going to animate the entire-" *checks video time* "OH. MY. GOD." Also wow, you even animated the little visual bug at 7:24 where your character flies through the air for less than a second before the flight master's mount spawns. This is so good, it almost doesn't deserve to exist.
"Me: starts watching "This is suprisingly detailed, Is he really going to animate the entire-" checks video time "OH. MY. GOD."" I have done the same thing ! XD
i made this journey with a friend who was adamant about being a night elf druid. we were a party of 4, a humans dwarf and a gnome. we made the journey to the NE starting zone to get him because he was completely new to wow. we made potions and repaired our gear for the long road ahead of us. man.....the travel itself was an adventure. i love that memory. sometimes just traveling with homies from one town to the text was just amazing itself.
The music of Teldrassil will always be my favorite. MY first character was Nelf Druid and the first time hearing all the music in the zone gave me goosebumps. I remember doing this run so many times, either by myself or with friends.
I love how this game connects so many strangers across the world. We all at some point made the periless run across Wetlands to level in our favourite starter zone, such a simple nostalgic experience shared by so many. I miss you Azeroth.
It's too bad that blizzard has killed so many years of nostalgia for me. Knowing what was going on behind the scenes as the new generations of developers came into power I cannot financially support the company anymore. I am happy that I get to keep the memories
I'm torn nowadays... I appreciate that the game is more streamlined and respects your time, but the feeling of accomplishment after you spent months grinding AV to get your first purple was something else and you just can't get that nowadays when everything is so instantly accessible.
My first character ever was a night elf, that music brings me so far back. I also love that this is the actual journey you needed to take to get to elwynn back in the day. If I was a nelf hunter I stopped on the way to get gun training too. Edit: I watched the whole thing and I'm glad I did. I knew where she was at all times by the tiny landmarks and was curious why she didn't set stone at any inns along the way lol! I lived vicariously through that little elf as I never made that run again after I got the Heirloom Chauffeur, but it was such a treat to see it again. Edit 2: I'm back again, just having it on in the background. This is my official chill video.
i started playing in wod. wasnt there a boat at rut'theran to sw docks??? i know we have the portal now but thats because the kul tiras boat replaced where i remember it being.
part of me is like "how the hell are hundreds of thousands of people watching a video thats basically a 40 minute walking animation?!?" ....also me: "this is the most relatable video ive seen in my LIFE"
@@Graciatus To be fair, that was later patched out so that you'd revive at the nearest spirit healer to where you died... Man did I hate when that change was made.
You know it's amazing, from how much you've played, that you can literally predict the next aggro or sound effect just by the change of music WITHOUT LOOKING.
Me: Watching the start of this video. "Wow. That Night Elf is walking at a surprisingly accurate pace." About a minute later... "Don't tell me..." *checks length of video* "Son of a bitch. He did it. That crazy bastard really did it!"
I remember there were days i would just stand there on a higher level character and just kill it as low level night elves would try and pass by and they would all cheer me lol.
Gods this is such a satisfying animation. Completely captures that feeling in the good days of auto-running from first spawn to your favorite place. All the little details Carbot got as well. Just a big old smile on me face. Carbot needs to do a Tauren one now.
I watched the whole thing. To be honest it made me realize how great the sound is in wow. Also, bravo to the sheer amount of artwork you created for this. Must have been Wrath because you got shielded by the priest without being in group and also the dranei on the ele LOL.
If you made it to the end you are a true WoW veteran and a cool person. I salute you!!! Every time i played an alliance char i went to level up in the elven zones because of the beautiful green forests and the fantastic music. Even as an Orc player, i always did a full quest run of Ashenvale forest just to hear the beautiful music. I always had a deep respect for the night elves for making such heavenly music and i never supported the Horde's campaign to cut down the forest by not participating in the WSG battleground. Ashenvale was always my second home in WOW. :)
I'm convinced that the reason classic wow is so nostalgic was that the music is some of the best I've heard in any game. I get nostalgic just hearing it, and also wow being the first mmo many people ever played
I'd say that FFXIV has a better soundtrack in my opinion. But yeah, WoW was/is probably the first real mmorpg for many players due to it being really the first mainstream mmorpg.
@@MrQwertysystem nah, ff14 music is good, but the music in wow has this blend of ambiance and nostalgia that is just too good. Just an opinion though, to each their own
This sent me down such a nostalgia trip… I’m surprised that the actual images all those places came to mind. What made me tear up though, was the realization that magic, awe and exploration used to be real at some point in life, how I wish I would’ve cherished those moments more. This was the best thing in a while. Thank you.
Omg the spacegoat on the boat was hilarious! Seriously tho the nostalgia just watching this instantly sent me back to when I first journeyed to the eastern kingdoms on my Nelf warrior and also got eaten by a crocolisk! Thank you!

I ran a bloodelf to lordaeron, through the plaguelands, afterwards I complained to a cousin about it and he told me about the teleport thingy in silvermoon to lordaeron.
When I saw how long the video was I thought this was gonna be a compilation of multiple cartoons. Then it just kept going, and going, and going lol. Absolutely spot on, and so many moments that only real wow player would know.
Back in 2005 on release day (yes, 2005, I'm from Europe) my first char was a human, and I wanted to join a friend who was a night elf. I went for the run, but the thing is, I didn't know there were two ships in Menethil, so I took the one I saw - to Theramore. Dustwallow Marsh and the Barrens and the whole Ashenvale really added to the experience :-)
i did something similar, running the same was as in this video, but at that time i had never been to ironforge, so i ddint know about the Tram...so i ran trough all zones between menethil and elwynn
You kinda had to do the same with the Warlock's Succubus quest back in the day, requiring you to get an item in Ashenvale. Traveling through the Horde's Barrens as a crappy lvl.20 caster was terrifying, I had to take for the hills and do a roundabout trip not to get ganked and then camped.
It has been now fifteen years... since I did the same to go questing in Ashenvale... and only after reading your comment have I noticed I could've taken the other boat...
On my first character I tried to run from Elwynn to Ironforge... and I didn't know about the Deeprun Tram. So I ran Elwynn - Redridge - Burning Steppes... never did make it to Searing Gorge, as I'd rezzed right next to the Horde FP and got locked into a rez-aggro-death loop.
This hit me so hard it hurts. The music, the small touches. That damn run. I've never been homesick in my life, but this made me fysically hurt from homesickness. Thanks for this, I love it.
Ironically with my first character a human mage, I went to Auberdine with the boat at 15 I guess, knowing warcraft 3 I wanted to see the Nelfs so bad for the first time and I level up to 30 till Ashenvale, the ambient, the forest and the music were amazing, a truly great experience. Best decision in my WOW life.
As an old night elf player(first and only character) that leveled before cataclysm, the NE leveling experience up to astranaar will be with me till I die. I completely understand you! although I dont play anymore BEST EXPERIENCE EVER! AGREED!
I saw the end coming a million miles away, but hell yeah I wasn't disappointed. Still remember making this trek in Vanilla in order to learn 2-handed swords as a Nelf hunter. Felt like it took all afternoon, but what an epic journey.

@@bobbyferg9173 I’m tempted to say no but obviously the fact that there are still people playing this game shows that a lot of people disagree. I’ve never accomplished the goal of leveling every class to max but I’ve gotten close and I can tell you that nowadays all classes feel pretty similar, they’ve dumbed them down a lot over the years. Also one of my fondest memories from vanilla is using the tailoring profession to craft myself a pretty good epic robe, but these days gear from professions is nearly useless and professions themselves kind of suck. However in the upcoming expansion it appears as if they want to address these issues by bringing back talent trees for classes and making professions better. Only time will tell if they’ll succeed in making the game feel more like it did back then. I would recommend that you wait until at least one month after the new expansion comes out and see what the streamers (not gaming news articles) are saying about it. WoW is a subscription game and you may want to see if it’s worth your money. Because for example if you’re looking mainly for an open world RPG with quests to complete you could be better off with a single player offline game like The Witcher 3.
The first character i ever created was a night elf so Teldrassil was the first zone i played and i loved it so much. It broke my heart when blizz destroyed Teldrassil.
I'm very sure this would be the average amount of time to run from Teldrassil to Elywnn. I made the trip many times back in Vanilla, it was definitely more than half an hour.
I love this, It reminds me when I started playing. My brother was a human and I created a nelf, so he told me to go to elwynn so he could help me. I ended up going to azshara thinking that there might be a ship there to go to the other continent. Obviusly it didn't go well, I died like a hundred times to skull lvls.. but those are the good old days memories that we all love :3
I wanted to level my Gnome in Teldrassil because my gf got a nelf. Being a noob I didn't know shit about the ships, but there was the moonlight event, so I could teleport to moonglade and walk down felwood, I know that feeling :D
Woah! This is like a movie of all things that made our childhood great. Brb, let me grab a popcorn, some drinks and a comfy pillow so I can enjoy this trip properly.
The sounds in this make me so nostalgic lol. I wish the game and the company itself were in a better place. I've always wanted them to do well. We shall see how it turns out. Also, that ending echoes in my soul.
Every time in vanilla when i was bored, i searched for a little elves who need help and we walked the whole way, but i made the long run, and checked all the flying points with them. 😊 It was such a nice time in my live.
also the buffs were so f.... great before they nerfed them to % versions, asked one mage to buff me in stormwind, and dealt hell lot of damage through that
I AM THAT GUY... they call me "THE MAD BUFFER" (well not while they took away that buff.. what an idiotic idea THAT was). THANK GOD I DONT NEED CANDLES ANYMORE >.>
Ahh, the Menethil Run. I remember this from back in my starter days, when Burning Crusade was the latest expansion. I remember hating the mountain pass that housed a gauntlet of Dragonmaw orcs to the point that after being killed for the sixth time I lost patience with it, turned back around and headed to Menethil... And then proceeded to swim, that's right, SWIM, half the length of the Eastern Kingdoms to reach Westfall. Took me just over an hour if I remember rightly, but damn was it satisfying to finally see the vibrant greenery of Elwynn.
You can also swim out along the coast of wetlands, die to morlocks over there and appear in the gy near if and res sickness, but lvl 1 res sickness is just durability loss to 0 armor gear lol
Swimming... I remember swimming around the coast of Quel' Thalas after BC was released (but I hadn't bought it yet) to see how it would appear - quite useless though, of course. And also I remember swimming (as an Orc) the coast of Stormwind to complete that achievement of fishing in both Orgrimmar and Stormwind.
this video just feels like Carbot recorded the run and then just animated everything to match the random sound effects. another amazing video that just makes me miss what World of Warcraft once was to me

Watching 40 minutes of an animation of a journey I wouldn't take, for the faction I wouldn't play, in a game I quit playing, while telling my boss how valuable my time is.
I still remember making that journey when I was 11 years old with a group of 5 people who were between lvl 5 and 13, on my first character ever. Except our guide didn't know you could go from Auberdine to Menethil Harbor. So he made us walk all the way to the Barrens (going through the border with Orc guards who would one shot us), and then to Theramore, to get to Menethil Harbor and continue on with the journey. It took us at least two hours to get to our destination because of all the deaths and the *huge* detour we took, but to this day it's still one of my best memories ever in a video game.
@@akashic7348 Yeah, going to dungeons was such a big adventure back then. Going to Shadowfang Keep and Wailing Caverns was a pretty big journey too at the time as a low level Alliance player.
When I saw the length of the video, and figured that this would be a long walk from Teldrassil to Elwynn Forest, I decided to just alt-tab and let the video play in the background. And even without watching the video, I could tell exactly where the night elf was, every time, judging by the music and sound effects.
Thats a big reason why wow is a game that sticks with you for life. i dont think any other game has immersed me as much and if nothing tops it in my lifetime I can be satisfied with knowing I was able to experience this one.
This video is so nostalgic for me. I made my hunter main in 2008, when I was new to the game. Back then, you didn't start with a pet, you had to level alone to 10 then find one to tame. I really, *really* wanted a snow leopard for my pet. Downside: I was a blood elf. Snow leopards were only in Dun Morogh. This was before passenger mounts, and I had no friends in-game at that time. So I had to do the run from Undercity to Dun Morogh alone, through areas I didn't know, most of which were either neutral or Alliance-controlled. I left a trail of corpses strung along behind me. But I got my snow leopard, that hunter is still my main, and he is still my favorite pet, remaining by my side for the last thirteen years. So I'm kinda disappointed we didn't get to see the snow leopards in your style here. xD
This was me except I was really nooby Blood elf hunter first character and tamed a springpaw (OFC) My springpaw died and I thought he was DEAD dead and I cried cause I didn't know I could rez him XD
Really nostalgic, i feel sweet sadness. I made my first hero - nigth elf hunter in 2008. I was kid, who only played WC3 before. And this giant world was amazing. I will never forget the way i feel when i saw Darnassus for the first time... This song, this beauty. But i didnt like spider as a pet. I fell in love with moonstalker from Darkshore. He is still my pet. After Cataclysm, when Darkshore and Auberdine were destroyed, i was upset. But when Classic's relise, the first thing i did is made new Night elf, just to feel this nostalia.
I had the engineer profession, so I could make my own gun. But there where no ore deposits in the Night Elf starting area... Then I had to make another walk, because I wanted the spider champion that spawned in the Undead starting area.
@@schwarzerritter5724 i almost forgot about weapon skills. I was lvl 15 or 20, and went from Darnassus to Ironforge. Without any mount. So far...real journey

Man I love how the travel of classic made the world so much bigger. Yea it was a pain to deal with but when you went on an adventure it was actually a whole freaking adventure that you had to plan out and commit to.
Ain’t no body got time for that with IRL: family, work, other hobbies, commitments outside of a video game. I enjoyed it as a young adult with all the time in the world, but I’d unsub if it was like that again, I literally do t have the time to play that old game.
Amazing video, my first vanilla character was a night elf priest. same hair color. I ran like this all the way to Azshara having no clue where I was going, just seeing the world. I remember in Azshara a horde Tauren player was there. He freaking escorted my lost noob self all the way back to the town Astranaar in Ashenvale! It was a pvp server. One of my first lasting memories of WoW.
I was thinking "he's almost there" when you got to darkshore and then I realized "wait, this is WoW Classic, oh man this is gonna be long". Loved every step of it.
@@Pynot TBC because of Draenei and the highelf in Auberdine, but not Wrath; otherwise the trip to Menethil and long walk to IF would have been omitted. with the harbour in SW the Darkshore-SW voyage became a very short one :)
This reminds me of my times running up to Scarlet Monastery as an Alliance. It was a task many couldn’t be bothered to take on. I had that run down to a science, but the thrill of sneaking RIGHT passed the front gates of Undercity just KNOWING a ganking was around every corner… Sometimes meeting cool horde along the way. But the final push to get into the Monastery was no joke, with horde often camping the entrances/exits. These are the moments the I’ve never been able to recapture with any game since! The best part of this whole thing is the animated latency of flying through the air before the hippogryph loads in. Attention to detail.

The wetlands run is peak nostalgia for me 👌

I'm torn nowadays... I appreciate that the game is more streamlined and respects your time, but the feeling of accomplishment after you spent months grinding AV to get your first purple was something else and you just can't get that nowadays when everything is so instantly accessible.
I did this only with undead in durotar.

I'm triggered.
i did something similar, running the same was as in this video, but at that time i had never been to ironforge, so i ddint know about the Tram...so i ran trough all zones between menethil and elwynn

@@HaydenRoberts08 I think you missed the whole point.
The moment I heard the Goldshire Inn music (while the Nelf was still running towards Northshire), I was like "set your hearthstone!!!". /cry
what is a hearthstone? We ran all the way to lv 40. /joke
Not to mention they did not grab a single flightpoint.
As someone who used to play on Moonguard, gods no.
I never thought I'd ask for WoW ASMR, but here we are.
Its weird how just the music and sounds of each zone made me smile
Nodded off several times
I was thinking that, and how GOOD the male nelf quest npcs sound. God damn.
I was thinking "he's almost there" when you got to darkshore and then I realized "wait, this is WoW Classic, oh man this is gonna be long". Loved every step of it.
Well it's Burning Crusade (see the draeneï on the ship) but yeah same
@@Pynot TBC because of Draenei and the highelf in Auberdine, but not Wrath; otherwise the trip to Menethil and long walk to IF would have been omitted. with the harbour in SW the Darkshore-SW voyage became a very short one :)
Yeah I meant BC but you get what I was going for. I was thinking Darkshore to SW Harbor and realized it was pre-Wrath.
Vanilla WoW was special for so many folks like me
