    Had a 77 txl.
    Loved the hood design !.
My buddy had the factory RXL.
We went to Kinross to run.
Them factory boys were FAST !
Got to go into the MIDNIIGHT BLUE EXPRESS race trailer and hang out with the team.
I asked one of them do you really run SEIZECO 'S ? ( Wiseco ).
Said hell no, we get money for running there sticker ! 😂.
    Priceless.
    Btw, Wayne ( Peare )
    Got smoked !.
Factory was around first turn before Wayne got to start finish line !
    Memories I'll never forget.
We stopped along side highway so Wayne could release himself on other side of trailer and me being me and in the middle of front seat just put my left foot on the break and put dually in drive and eased on down the road a piece. 😅 we all laugh and back on the road again.
Believe it was US 131 or 27 We were on. Before the bridge.
    Great Memories.
Have three P's down here in fl.
800 XCR to go onto an Edge , 500 indy 91, and 99 XCSP 700 Johnny Cash special.
Complete except pistons 340 L engine and a FACTORY race crankcase with tight rod slot upper half.
39mm kehines, or 39 mm Delortoes in alki form for my 250 cc macminerilli hydro engine.
V Force 3 reeds and spacer to get reeds out of crankcase to better fill boost port and longer track for fuel atomization.
Lots of factory race stuff for stock Edge chassis and a fusion skid updated with Walker Evans and race style Brace on rear systems. The two at the top of rear syssers.
Been a while so I'm a little rusty on nomenclature.
Miss this time of year in Michigan and all the fun we use to have in Ross Common and the battle creek area.
Oh, and Cadillac area as well.
Have fun y'all up there and merry Christmas one and all !
Above all ,,,, GO FAST TURN LEFT 👍🏻👈forgot one other thing.
The chassis is a 2003 model and I wanted the phantom break system so I carefully invaded to hole in the chassis to perfectly fit the boss on the chaincase box.
Has the light weight jack and race disk.
Wanted to go to the SLP disk but didn't get it in time before price went up and slp sold it to Wahls.
Also have track bar with Wahls bushings for chassis rather then plastic ones.
Can't remember the guy that bilt the billit front engine stabilizer for the XCR 800 in the Edge chassis but have that to go on also. Fox dual spring front shocks off the old racers slp ski's, team clutches, primary and secondary plus oem secondary with a 52 ( if I remember correctly) ramp. ( progressive )
    Blue/ silver spring.
1.5 paddle track. cant remember manufacturer but we'll inown manufacturer.
4 tire drive unit off 90' XCR sled. Rear added heat exchanger. Had to cut hole in rear tunnel for it.
Race tach , slp heat and air intake kit.
    Yellow billit brake lever.
    Blue/ yellow hood on ebay.
In fact everything I bought except rad rods boots came from ebay.
Boots came from Hildebrand marine Salvage out of Coldwater ,Michigan. 517
    238-2828
    Give the boys a shout.
    Ask for Mark.
He has about any cylinder redone by Millennium technology servise you could want.
Biggest replated servis center in Michigan last I knew. Plus a back acre field full of used sleds and a building too.😮

I think your '78 TXL is my favorite sled! Made my day to see a video featuring it. You sure get some nice takeoffs with her! I might have to find one someday and add it to the stable. Sorry you had the mechanical failure, but we've all been there too! Looking forward to seeing it again, when she's fixed!

I like the TX models for their simplicity, but that TXL can rip. I am looking forward to seeing the repair videos. Cheers Nutter!

The txl 340 were so fast in the day my best friend growing up had one ! It would beat my 460 ss25 one luger on the radar runs ! I will admit it now !

Yes it does get a but chill behind thise liw windshields.
We were up in Baldwin ( another beautiful place to ride ) and it was 25 below.
Wayne had the new trailing arm 340 P so he stayed warm. We pulled into town to get fuel and went inside the old gas staion to warm up. Had and OLD pot belly stove .
I had a beard and stash at the time so you know what happens with the nose, lol. Yup helment stuck to beard and stash.
Bent over stove to melt the ice.
Then i could get my old midnight blue Polaris helment off. Still have that old helment too.
Damn that was a cold ride !
And yes, its hard to keep up with the newer sleds when you dont have suspension, lol .
But im sure the 340 had the guts to stay up with the other boys if you did !
Put a later model skid under it !.
I was going to make a clone of the RXL using my 440 ported egine i spoke of earlier in my previous text.
You boys stsy safe up there. Keep yer head on a swivel, keep yer powder dry and LOCK & LOAD !
Its coming like a freight train from her on out.
June, july could be it according to several I've listened to.

Nice vid Nutter! Glad to see you get something else out for a ride! I like the Grape Ape, but you’ve got too many cool sleds to let them all sit
    Cheers guys!!

It's pretty easy when you have 4 galouts to throw the bad boy up on there. Last time I broke down right before the trailer and had to drag it up on there by myself, my asshole was sticking out about two inches.

Love that 78! I just bought a 78 to go with my 77, just have to make the 3 hour round trip to get it. Needs work, the steering shaft was locked up and the belly pan needs work
Funny how Polaris ran the graphics on the hood so the rider can read it. I always thought it should be the other way so when standing in front of the sled you can read it.

nice. that's pretty nearly the same thing as my polaris cobra 440... except your engine and clutching are WAY better than those on mine.

The look is similar, but they are very different. Your Cobra is actually basically a '74-'75 TX but with s steel chassis.

Sorry to hear about the TXL. I guess that will be another episode! What jackshaft did you use for the chain case conversion? Are you running a top oil seal? Original narrow gears? Love your channel.

    • @nuttersspeedshop
      @nuttersspeedshop  Рік тому +1

It's been a long time since I built it, but I would guess I'm using a later jack shaft and drive shaft with oil seals top and bottom. Mid '90s XLT, Indy 500, trail Indy and the like all fit. You are correct, there will be an episode. Still haven't opened it up yet to see what happened. Thanks.

I saw another video where they mentioned how great the TXL 340 engines were and how much power they made. Do you notice a big difference between the LC and free air?

    • @nuttersspeedshop
      @nuttersspeedshop  Рік тому +1

Stock for stock with good clutches on both it's pretty easy to tell the liquid makes more power. I can mod the free air to get pretty close with 38mm carbs and a tiny bit of port work. Clutching matters a lot too. A stock free air with great clutching will walk a stock liquid with poor clutching.

Nice sled john. Are you using a tx-l indy engine? Or a crankshaft from a tx-l indy? Or a bushing in the clutch? I ask because the tx-l leafers have the long crankshaft snout.

  • @paulcameron3567

Such a cool sled! What suspension is on it, stock?

    • @nuttersspeedshop
      @nuttersspeedshop  Рік тому

just an '80s Indy skid. Really pretty much the same skid as a 1980 and newer leaf spring TXL. Bolts in. No need to drill holes.
