Elliot, I will be 53 next week and am not on TRT. What I found to work is basically taking care of your health, eating well but not to excess (keep the body fat in check) get sleep and train hard but not excessive or huge amounts of volume. I guess just working smarter and emphasizing recovery as you age. 2-4 days per week max for the strength training. Praying and staying close to God helps me of course as well. Good luck!

Calisthenics is key. Your body will never get broken down from its own weight. 38 turning 39 this year. High volume calisthenics is the holy grail. Pullups, pushups, and dips and all their variations. Restricting the calories keeps your body in line. Lithe and athletic is the name of the game as we age. Limited weights for legs like squats, leg extensions, and leg curls and leg press once, maybe twice a week

Hello I’m 60 and from the UK. Just want to say I was on TRT for around about 18 months and Bern off it for about 4 months now. I’ve suffered with all of what you have just said, aches in my joints ( elbows, wrists and shoulders) and felt tired as well. And my muscle definition and size is not as good as it was, but I think my age is a factor in that department. I’ve trained since I was 16 yrs old and obviously wear and tear has took its toll. But I’ve just started back on it but I’m going to keep a regular check on my bloods and get blood withdrawals every so often to keep me safe. I’ve done research and spoken to ex champion bodybuilder Dorian Yates last year who gave me some good advice, so I’m hoping that this helps me out. Thank you for your video. Hope you’re well, and take care.

My total test level is at 900 ng/dl which is considered to be in the normal high range. At age 42 my natural test level was at 238 ng/dl which is below the normal range. I felt like crap back then. TRT does help guys in there 40s who have low Testosterone to begin with. If your 400 ng/dl or more then there's no need to go on TRT yet.

I'm 54 been natural all my life but trained very hard. Everything you're describing when you came off TRT sounds to me like the natural progression of aging. I had to change my routine definitely. I haven't programmed in a long time but I still maintain decently.
I used to do a lot of 4x6-8 straight sets heavy but now I pyramid. There was a time I could do Mon/Thur Tues/Fri Wed Leg Day split, now that's basically once a week per body part set spread over about a week and a half for recovery. I'm on the lighter side of weights but not super light. To be honest, I haven't tested since I took a few years break at 47/48.
In that time, I got into bike riding, then tabata/circuit training with weights, then bands and then came back to lifting in early 2023. It's definitely a different game when you're older but you can still get the work in. It's just slower and needs a different strategy.

In October I will be 60 years old. No TRT. My testosterone is on the low side. I used to compete as a powerlifter, speedskater, bicyclist. I've been lifting weights consistently since 1978. I still race bicycles. I'm probably the only person to take first place in the shot put, and place at bicycle time trials in the same year at the Senior Games . . . also competing at Senior Nationals. When I was younger I could incline press 85lb dumbbells for fourteen reps, and now maybe do that with 55lb dumbells. So the strength just goes down. I'm looking to compete in some bicycle races in the sixty year old category, and maybe do the Huntsman World Senior Games this year. I've had to quit doing some exercises because it just hurts in a bad way, but just stay at it. I work out maybe ten times a week with a full time job. Weights every weekday morning. Then after work I will do either cardio or weights three days a week, then on the weekend mornings go bicycling. If I feel tired, I will back off a bit.

Age , pharmaceutical drugs, alcohol , overtraining and work stress all contribute to low Testosterone, I think the issue with TRT is people start too young , 45 is the earliest you should start. Many men have taken it for a decade and not had a single negative side effect. 100mg is enough sometimes guys say they’re on TRT but they’re taking 250mg which definitely isn’t sustainable long term.

I try very hard not to lose power, speed and agility. I need one day of yoga and one day of swimming to recover, plus regular appointments with the phys thetspist. I have a bi-phasic sleep pattern and do intermittent fasting at least four times a week.
I feel great and people think I'm much younger than my real age. But recovery is certainly getting harder.

I’ve worked out since I was 14. In 42 now. At about 39, I started noticing that even though I was working out 5-6 days a week, I was getting in worse shape. I started getting a “soft” look and losing definitions. I was also extremely anxious most of the time.
Went to the Dr to check test levels and I’mcnot sure what the numbers mean but the low end of normal on this scale was 250. Mine was 64.
So I got on TRT and it’s been a game changer not sure if I will ever come off of it, even though I like to think I could. I’m in a very low dose though. 50mg per week done in 2 done in 2 25 doses

so whats scary about that, is that at some point your body becomes dependent on an external substance (or rather, an additional external substance) you now have to take for the rest of your life. What happens if you lose your job when you are 50 and can't afford TRT anymore? Or what happens if - okay, things are different in USA - but in my country, the only legal TRT is no longer produced (company went under), and it is really hard to get any TRT anymore, even when doctor prescribes it? Are we sure TRT will be around for everyone in 20 years time? These are the things that bother me.

problem is taking TRT is a shortcut. What is causing your actual T levels to be so low? 64 is NOT normal in any capacity at any age. You need to find what is causing the issue. Sounds like it could be stress/anxiety related. also try to eliminate exposure to chemicals and microestrogens. Good luck bro.

    I'm turning 40 soon.
Been on TRT for 3 years and stopped 6 months ago because I wanted to get my girlfriend pregnant. I was very nervous about coming off but it has been pretty easy. I had low sex drive for about 2 months and zero sperm count.
Now I feel completely fine and sperm count is 160 million. I need to sleep a bit more now. I had high blood pressure while on TRT but nothing when I'm off.
When you are on TRT (Testosterone Replacement Therapy), you typically have higher estradiol levels. Elevated estradiol can lead to increased water retention, which may result in higher blood pressure and a swollen appearance.
Your red face was probably high blood pressure.
After working out for 15 years, 12 years without any drugs, 3 years with. I have zero drive to workout now after I came off. It just feels boring and pointless.

@@doitordont6150 There are absolutely no guaranties that your nuts will come back online after TRT. I would highly recommend freezing some sperm beforehand, if you want to have children in the future. Most men get their sperm production back, but as I said - no guaranties. If I would have done it over, I would have frozen some sperm and been on HCG while on TRT to keep my nuts from going completely offline. I was lucky that everything came back to normal with a mild PCT after 6 weeks without test of 25mg tamoxifen every day for 5 weeks. I would have taken HCG if I was able to get my hands on it, but I wasn't at the time.

I know about the slow recovery aches and pain and pains and pains but there is something rewarding about it being 100% just you. When I am working out I ending up zoning out and never want to stop. I'd say the only thing I notice that's different now as opposed to when I was 20 is the recovery time and the fact that I need to really warm up before workouts. There's some accumulated effect of the injuries I've had over the years, but mostly manageable. I get tennis elbow every once in a while from doing too many pull-ups and push-ups, so there's that. Other than that I'd say I'm almost as jacked as I've always been. Just limit stress, eat good food and make sure you get enough sleep I guess will work for most people.

This post hit home. I have had weight issues all my life from developing an eating disorder at a young age. I was 175lbs in the 6th grade, hit puberty in the 9th grade and have been 6’1” since. Graduated HS @190lbs and never played sports. I was more of a skip school and smoke out kind of a guy. Then I went from 190lbs to 303lbs at 22 and took it upon myself to lose weight and got down to 212lbs in 9 months. The thing is I knew nothing about working out back then so I ran, ran, and ran some more. I barely lifted weights, but basically ate chicken, rice, and veggies everyday. Losing that weight was great but I got skinny-fat. At 23 I joined the Army in ‘03 as a skinny-fat weakling. I had weak connective tissues, but powered through 5yrs in the Army and got in great shape. After getting out at 28 my body already had a lot of arthritis, neck, c5-c-6 and those 5yrs in the Army caught up with me. I kept somewhat in shape for a few years, but well over a decade I have had high and low weight fluctuations. Then 2022 I got rear ended by some lady doing over 90mph while I was driving 55mph crossing the Gandy bridge back to Tampa. This threw off my back and hip, no surgery but physical therapy. During the past 2yrs I just fell into a depression and started eating like a pig getting up to 314lbs. As of this past May 2024, and on the eve of turning 44 in July, I decided to make a change and within 9 weeks I have lost 40lbs. I get my blood work done annually, so I will know my T levels in Sep. I have been natural all my life and have thought about TRT. Despite my body being in pain, arthritis/inflammation, I still feel like I have that Dog in me and can reach my goals naturally and for as long as I can stay natural. I mean once i’m collecting SS i’ll get on something, but until then I’ll keep fighting the good fight of youth. I’ll link you to my page if you are interested.

I'm not exactly sure how old you are but going on 47 and having been doing the TRT for about a year and a half the only side effects I've had are that sometimes the hormone levels become unbalanced and have had to adjust the dosage that I take. My testosterone ideally measures about 1200 to 1400. At one point during the blood work my testosterone came back at 2200+, so I had to lower the dosage that I was taking. Overall it has helped me thin down quite a bit because even though I've been bodybuilding for 30 years I had started gaining a lot of weight around the abdominal area despite the fact that I was training like I normally do and doing my cardio.
The other side effect of which I think was worse is that I started getting more acne in my shoulders and chest. But if you take something like a DIM and there is also a supplement formula that Amazon sells to regulate hormones, which is specifically made lower acne. That made my acne clear up about 95%.

Have you done a sleep study? I was on TRT and it increased my blood pressure, resting heart rate and gave me full blown apnea. Off now for 4 months. Less jacked that’s for sure.

42 - Testosterone was 257. I didn't really feel bad but since being on TRT I have noticed some substantial improvements. My training and gains have been nice. The biggest improvements I have noticed is my anxiety and confidence are in a much different place. I just feel better about most things now. It has kind of changed my life.

37 lifetime natty. Lift 5x a week plus conditioning. Recovery has slowed down alittle and have to rotate off heavy days more frequently then before. I maintain alot of muscle at 6ft 279lbs, 14- 15% bf. Mostly hard for me mentally because i need more rest days for my own good but i dont wanna take them. I have to force them and its hard on my mind because i wanna workout. Other then thay fitness is improving overall. Last thing, fat loss feels slightly harder though 😢

I'll b 50 in Sept. I took test when I was 20. No idea what I was doing. Came off no problem. I had youth in my favor. But now I'm in as good a shape as I've ever been, in relation to my age. I eat mainly carnivore but with sweet potatoes. Energy is low late in the day. But I'm ok with that these days. I get 8 plus hrs a night and I'm not on any prescription meds. Whole foods only.

Nearly 62, life long natty but not against PED's. I train every other day doing only one major muscle group, mainly partials (full range of motion will ruin your joints AND is 100% the opposite of how our ancestors expended energy) so that gives me nine days of rest for each major muscle group. I try to eat a minimum of four Ribeyes per week for lunch and the rest of the days hamburger patties or some other form of high grade protein and fat. I also average about 25 whole eggs a week. I eat a heavy cream and butter and not too many carbs. No drinking or smoking. I float at around 18% bodyfat without counting one calorie and have 17" biceps at 5'-9". I've never had high testosterone (highest was 460 when I was 58) but was in the low 300's in my early 50's. My androgen receptors must be decent since I'm still able build strength and muscle over the last 4 years. Every man is different and you have to experiment to see what works for you whether it is diet, PED's, workouts, rest, etc. "Wellness & TRT Clinics" believe every man needs TRT but that is often not the case as Mr. Hulse explains.

Are you below 15-20% body fat? At only 35 I started to get all kinds of joint problems, knee pain and had to nap all the time. It might not be testosterone. It could just be carrying too much weight. I Lost 35 pounds and now I feel amazing and have tons of energy and no pain.

I take trt and i think alot has to do with diet.. intermittent fasting and cutting carbs and sugar kept extra weight off and the swollen look..also trt the most 375 mg a week and the least i think would be 100mg every 8 days. And imo never more than 6 months with out a 2 to 3 month pause

I was on for like 10 years and then I went off for 2 and I felt fine except for joint pain, joint pain is actually why I went back on.

The joint pain will go away if you didn't have it before TRT. It may take time but it'll pass and very common from the water TRT makes you hold.
