That's exactly why the first two season of Picard missed the mark. At its core, Star Trek is about the ship, the crew, the captain working as one, that sense of camaraderie. Put all that together, you get an outlook of hope of being able to do the impossible....together, which is the bottom line of Star Trek.

I really appreciate the fact that LaForge left the burns on her disc. As he said, he recovered the disc from the planet where she crashes, and the other parts from other ships. Those burns are a memento of the ship's glorious past. She's glorious, but also old and scarred by her battles, just like her crew... but they're both ready to save the Federation again, together!

The job was not complete at that time. She's all pristine and museum-ready in the denouement. But at that time, they needed a big powerful ship that was *not* wired into the Fleet Formation system, and Geordi's incomplete-but-mostly-fight-ready Enterprise-D rebuild fit the bill. Apparently the stardrive section still had U.S.S. Syracuse insignia on it too, from what more eagle-eyed viewers spotted.

I have to agree even though she was severely damaged beyond repair from a renegade Klingon Bird of Prey and was deemed unsalvageable it took 20 years for her former chief engineer to restore her to her former glory and it just goes to show that the Enterprise is truly the strongest ship in Starfleet as stated by the Borg in the Best of Both Worlds as it clearly shows it'll take more than a 12 year old Klingon Bird of Prey to take that ship down I mean if the Duras Sisters had more than one Bird of Prey at they're disposal during the Battle of Viridian 3 things might've ended in they're favor or if they had a more up to date and more powerful Bird of Prey they just might have won but they didn't as the Duras Sisters sadly underestimated the crew of the Starship Enterprise as that ship and her crew were the best in Starfleet and no one gets assigned to that ship by being novices or who has families in high places of command it takes hard work, determination and being the best to get assigned to the Federation Flagship.

There was this hope in all things....
I experienced when I saw Star Trek,as a child for the first time, that first episode.
And over the decades it's seeing things from it become real world I just could never imagine.
I saw Neil Armstrong walk on the moon live, while my dad ran around the house yelling we made it to the moon.
    And then came Trek...
It was everything, everything in hope that I would live long enough to see any of it come true.
And I did, there was an Enterprise in orbit in my lifetime, albiet,it was a Shuttle, but it was a spaceship.
That happened, and there's so much more that came after...
The things in Medicine that were thought of and are developing.
The Universal Translator exists in a manner now, bringing us closer as a family, developed during the Iraq War to talk to tribes.
And then expanding to include every language that can be added.
Star Trek was more than just an ideal,it was what we should be,it's what we will be.
The generations coming up,you, your children are going to live it,I will be there in spirit.
As all of us that became the family that is Star Trek.

Humanity will achieve Roddenberry’s dream. I believe that. But - as Roddenberry predicted - not until after a nuclear WW3. In the Star Trek vision of our future, there is no Washington D.C. - and probably no Moscow or Beijing either.

Season 3 was solid gold. No pronouns, no real world politics rammed down your throat, no emphasis on LGBTQ, nothing but rock solid entertainment, nostalgia and a story that was packed with action, suspense, drama and Sci fi extravagance. I haven't seen a Trek that good in at least twenty years and likely never will again. It was absolute perfection. A solid 9.5/10

One thing I loved about that scene is how they played with the theme music - the TNG theme is quoted in parts several times, but the entire melody doesn't get to breathe until the Enterprise is in space - until she's a SHIP once more.
