i disagree with LYD on the independent players situation...a lot of the players left the national team because a lot of them did not reach the association's expectation...so most of them were kicked out from the national team especially during their peak years...other than that the upper management did interfere with the coaches and players plan and there were a lot of politics happen in the association which was not good...so some of the players did left the team

Yes there's a lots of "masalah keluarga" in BAM, these people probably didn't know the truth and just made assumption. Which is not nice, before you say something sensitive.. you need to have some responsibility like doing an actual research on it before spreading it to other people.

Lee Zii Jia left the national team cause they expected too much from him. Most of the players who turned independent were thrown out from BAM because of poor performance.
No choice in national team expected too much from him even last year he get injure still force to play tournament.( When there is no others players able to rely on, BAM upper management squeeze everything's out of the single player that able to perform to the maximum and overused them eventually collapse them and costing the player to injury plenty of the past player have that issues. )

Misleading information about Malaysian Independent Player. They don't out from BAM because of money but BAM itself kick them out.
Yes, you right, most of the player out from BAM not simply their go out From BAM just like that..most of them out from BAM because BAM kick them out, the reason BAM kick is because the player did not show good performance and there are also other conditions.
It would definitely be a delight to have LYD chat with AhSan & Hendra. I bet they have lots of stories between them and maybe enough to make 2 or 3 parts! Being such top rankers at their age, i believe nobody can ever look down on AhSan & Hendra. If anything, it is an honour to meet them in court.

I think it is not right to said that Malaysian players always go independent when they produce result for the sake of money.
If we look at the active malaysian players now, they are being kicked out by malaysia association & they are forced to go independent.
Only few case (LZJ & a few) are making this move at their own decisions, you can say because of money, or because of some other reasons in BAM that outsider wouldn't know of.
LYD's Olympic opponent goh wee shem / tan wee kiong is one of the example being released by BAM, and many others more, including our mixed double Olympic silver medalist.
BAM always release senior players when they have new juniors catching up with the ranking, and when they see limitation of the seniors, they just no patient to players, if they have no result for some period, they are out

I watched that game many times. Some people thought Yoo Yeong Song and Lee Yong Dae were mentally collapsed in the end. They didn't. The fact is that Goh V Shem and Tan Wee Kiong played the best games of their entire career during the Rio Olympics. Goh and Tan almost took down Fu Hai Feng and Zhang Nan during the final in the same fashion.

Thumb 👎 for this video because of misleading informations 11:03. Most Malaysian players who were out of the national team were kicked out because of their unconvincing performance. While, some seniors choose to go independent because it's time the national team to focus on junior players instead of relying too much on senior player like they did on LZJ. without a doubt the malaysian pair played really well in that game, but one of the major factors of why the daddies lose that game is definitely bcs of their old age, ahsan cannot jump and smash continuously from the back court like he used to when he was younger, but regardless good match

It's kinda annoying that the Malaysian pair is the winner of the tournament, but most of what LYD is doing is analyzing Ahsan/Setiawan. Not much talk on the insane defense of Chia/Soh. If I didn't know any better and just watched this video, it seemed like the Indonesians won. Clearly they both had a lot in the tank because they dispensed of the younger Fajri pair in like fashion.
Calm down dude. He has been facing Setiawan as opponent since 2007 and they were both successful with more than one partner. It is called "class does recognize class". It is amazing that Setiawan can still advance to the final at 38. And LYD himself once said that the opponent that he respected the most are Setiawan and FHF. Chia Soh has done a great job and they totally deserve the gold medal.

lyd's commentary is full of useful observations. i especially like the story about ahsan rejoining setiawan only after he decided to get serious. it would be good to see the two players next to lyd having done a little more work to prepare for the session, like maybe watching the match and bringing their own observations and points to the table, instead of mostly sitting passively with dumb looks on their faces
