    Indeed. To cancel, simply pull the plug and let the timer finish it’s task uninterrupted^^Cheers🍀🥃

    The ‘0’ is the bagel setting and I think it only turns in the middle element, so you put your bagel halves in, cut sides facing inwards

  • @cassiemurphy4851

    To cancel - pull the plug. The timer will keep going but toasting stops. And you don’t ruin your timer.

      I could have sworn they said in the manual just twist timer to zero, not pull the plug. its fine to do. I have had my 4 slice toaster about 7 years and hasnt broken yet doing this.

      The manual says you can just click the timer to zero and that it will not ruin your timer. It's designed to do that.

    I've had the 4-slice variant for about 20 years. It makes consistently-great toast, has never gone wrong (there's very little *to* go wrong), and works as well now as the day I bought it.
    A word of caution though - they do a long-slot model if that's what you're after, but it's not made in the same traditional way with fully-replaceable parts.

    Hi Danny. Nice review. About toaster not having a "cancel" button. The slot selection knob has a "0" setting - if you select "0" does that cancel toasting ? And, it may suffer from being designed in the UK - where the electrical socket on the wall has an on/off switch and you just switch it off to cancel the toaster. I understand that USA sockets don't usually have a built-in on/off switch. I've had one of these toasters for about 15 years - it just keeps on going because it's so simple and well made ! Cheers.

      the "0" setting is for bagels, or anything that you only want toasted on one side. older dualit toasters didn't have this feature, but the new ones do.

    great toaster, i've had one for 15 years and it's still going strong. unlike most toasters, the heating elements in these don't glow red hot and the elements are covered with a clear heatproof material that theoretically would insulate from shock if you were to poke a fork in it while it's on. mine toasts very evenly with no pale spots, maybe yours needs some time to "break in" the elements so they heat evenly. i also have the sandwich cage accessory which is fun to play with, i use it to make grilled cheese and it also roasts hot dogs quite well with minimal cleanup. you forgot to demonstrate the crumb tray that pulls out the front for cleaning, much nicer than other toasters that have a door in the bottom forcing you to pick up the toaster to clean out the crumbs.

      It is not British, open it up and you will see the most critical component namely, the timer mechanism, is made in China. I know, when mine failed I opened it and found out.

    I bought a Breville Toaster Oven because it's more versatile. I can toast anything in there and cook and reheat too.

    We have one that's fairly old. One of the elements recently stopped heating. We initially ordered after-market heating elements that didn't work. Dualit has a North American distributor that will sell you factory replacement parts of the correct voltage and those are the parts you want. England uses 240 volt systems and here in the States we use 110 volt systems. Replacing the elements is actually fairly simple. The directions call for a 6.5 mm wrench but I used 1/4" wrench that worked perfectly.

    Like that it is simple and can be repaired. Reminds me of the Kenwood mixer. Looking into it right now. Many times less is more.

      Ahh good catch I did read the instructions but the bagel setting was only depicted loosely in pictures and not explicitly mentioned for the 2 slice vs 4 slice pictures. Post video clarity thanks for sanity checking!

      Hi Danny I was excited to see your review on Dualit. My concern is that, after seeing so many bad reviews on Amazon, some of them really frightening, I'm still not making the decision of getting one. I don't want my house to be burned!!!!

      @@JuanPerez-od8zt The timer is clockwork - it has a black dot (at just over the 2-minute mark) to indicate the typical setting for toast.
      However, the timer goes up to about 3.5 minutes - if you wind it all the way up, your toast will be very burned. I don't know if it would catch fire, and I have to intention of finding out, but if it did, I don't think it would be the toasters fault. Get some common sense and/or fire insurance.

    Hi
    Nice 'review' of this toaster. Helpful to know what it offers, functionally.
    I wonder, though -- would a toaster have a "zero slots" selection? That zero, in your video, looked maybe like a bagel?
    Anyway, thanks! [Also enjoyed your several toasters video, with your co-presenter]

    • @peterthomas5792
      @peterthomas5792 Рік тому +4

      That "zero slots" selection that looks like a bagel is actually the 'missing' bagel function.

    If it goes wring it can be fixed, don't be a pillock snd throw it out
    Mine at 30 years just lost one element so as a 4 slice I have ordered six slice set so in another 30 years I'll know i have two centre section spares not that I will remember where I put them.
    Bagels, who cares, slice it into three, first world problem sorted just like hot cross buns

    Buy Japanese- the Mitsubishi toaster is a wonder- made in Japan at a factory building stereo components and designed by engineers obsessed with the perfect slice.
    The Dualit apparently uses a Chinese made timer that commonly fails.

    • @DannyPops
      @DannyPops  2 місяці тому

      I've been wanting to try out that toaster, but since it's only 1 slice at a time and takes longer to toast, it's more in the realm of specialty preparation (like making espresso) and I don't think it's comparable to a multi slice toaster.
