  • In this episode our @Nextleveloz Big Lap Gap Year we continue exploring Shark Bay and go off-road to the most westerly point of the Australian mainland - Steep Point.
Along the way we visit Monkey Mia, Shell Beach and Hamelin Pool.
Welcome to Episode 25 of our Big Lap Gap Year. We're David and Paula @NextLevelOZ. Like many of you, we've worked hard for 40 years, but we are too young to retire. So we're taking a gap year from work, we've bought our first ever caravan and are doing a Big Lap around Australia taking in the iconic destinations of our fabulous country.
This channel is for fun and to share our trip of a lifetime and 100% of any ad revenue earned goes to charity.
We'd love your comments, questions and tips. We hope you will like and subscribe and we look forward to sharing our journey around this magnificent country.

Thanks for another great episode. I really like the easy conversational style as you let us all travel along on the virtual back seat. Saying that... all was good until the 21:55 mark!!! As a fellow 110 owner, I'm waiting on the edge of my seat to see what all that departing on the back-of-a-tilt-tray is all about. What a cliffhanger ending to an episode!

Certainly giving the Landie a work out. Looking forward to the next episode to find out what happened.

Yes we are taking the Landie to a few places of interest but all well within its capability. Stay tuned.. there’s is bit of water to come under the bridge yet 😉.

You can easily get a van into steep. I have done it multiple times with both my 2015 Defender and RRS towing 2.6t Reconn. Just hold your gears.
Also francois peron is a must and same easily get a camper into Big Lagoon and further on for those with proper off-road campers

Thanks for watching. Yes Francis Peron was something we had to miss but looks very good. I reckon the dunes as they were at the time would have stretched towing even at 2.6 tonnes but a smaller camper trailer - for sure. A few people were bringing in boats - but in one or two cases not easily. Do-able but we chose to leave ours in Denham. Next time we’d probably park up a bit closer.

Just when you think you are in the middle of no where, a boat goes by.

😂. Fishermen hey!? It’s a very popular place for people to fish and on the Shark Bay side there are some campgrounds that the dedicated bring their boats into.

Another fabulous Sunday morning, video editing skills are great, how long does this take you to do?

Thanks so much. It takes us a bit as we aren’t professionals so some of the editing is a bit rough in my view. The content itself does a lot of the work and getting the story to flow a bit. Probably a days work all up, ideally a bit each day. The longest bit for me is sorting the content to select the bits that tell the story and the best available quality. Selecting and editing the thumbnail picture is a bit of a challenge because it impacts if people click - and we don’t like doing the click bait thumbs. It takes about an hour for the upload and for youtube to do its checks etc as well. But say a day if I’m focussed.

I should add that we are still learning the whole UA-cam caper and editing. Some of it I really enjoy as a bit of a hobby - but I’m learning that what i like and what people want to watch aren’t always the same! 😂

the audio is appalling. just saying. I like the idea of your east west north south points, and appreciate the videos and the effort it takes.

Sorry about that. We're working on it. the raw video wasn't too bad but it rendered poorly/worse when uploaded. I think it's because between the editing software and whatever processing occurs when uploaded struggled with the sound mix of the noise stuff and mic'd up piece to camera.
