I would love a Void Explorer DLC, imagine taking a gigantic Submarine around the void and finding smaller craters that have unique species and technology to discover. It would be amazing
I find it cool to think that there are more little underwater “islands” that have life like the ones seen in the crater with the dead zone surrounding them. Mabey even a massive “island” that could support a gargantuan leviathan!
I feel like eventually the dead zone would slowly fade away REALLY REALLY far away, but the ghost leviathans can't rule all of that primary area of the planet
@@kkirei425 I was thinking that too. In the end cutscene you see that there are huge lines with water what isnt that deep. I think their are much more safer places on the planet and the crater is just in the middle of one of those deeper zones you see in the outro.
5:48 this is actually brought up in one of the first Degasi PDAs the player encounter's on the floating island. Heavy rain followed by flash flooding and landslides on the island are what prompted the surviving crew to seek shelter elsewhere. Had these weather events not precipitated (pun intended), it is very likely that the crew would have been able to establish a more resilient presence on the planet as both Bart and Paul [Torgal] were strongly against Marguerite's idea of exploring the ocean. Since the crew wouldn't have come into contact with the ocean water in this scenario, they certainly would have been able to survive longer, perhaps even to the crash of Aurora, thereby giving us more information and evidence to work with after the [player] crashes on the planet. This scenario certainly doesn't rule out the possibility of the crew deciding to venture into the ocean, but a lack of weather would have significantly changed the events and decisions of the Degasi crew. The most likely explanation is that 4546B experienced rapid climate change after the Degasi crew were able to reliably record weather data; this could have come in many forms. I theorize that the massive discharge of energy via the Enforcement Platform was enough to cool the planet's core down by a significant degree, which absolutely would have caused unpredictable changes in weather patterns on 4546B. Another theory could stem from the immense volcanic activity; an eruption, even a small one, somewhere else on the planet was enough to impact weather patterns on a planetary scale. We already have evidence of this from volcanic eruptions on Earth in the form of Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Tambora and Krakatoa. One other plausible theory stems from an asteroid collision on 4546B, but there is little evidence supporting this. My point is this: despite the player not experiencing any kind of weather on the planet during the storyline, it's impossible to ignore the evidence of weather events on the planet.
I actually really like the theory that something prompted a rapid weather change :) Below Zero also seems to suggest something like that might have happened in the past with the precursors.
I realized that since khaara is a WATERBORNE bacteria, that would mean if anyone was in the island and never touched water, they would never be infected, interesting
Bit late to the party, but it could have also been seasonal weather variation. It’s not impossible that an orbital year on 4546b might be much longer than an earth year.
I love Subnautica so much I hope that the devs stick with it until we get to see the entire planet! =) Also, I never thought about the waves thing until you mentioned it!
I've often imagined the atmosphere 4546b to be like a Reptile House or Greenhouse in summer, really hot and humid combined with a relatively low gravitational pull (you do seem to float rather than fall if you jump off one of the observatories on the floating island) It's probably worth mentioning that the Degasi survivors talk about storms and heavy rain, possibly meaning the planet has rainy seasons. It's basically an untame Kamino from Star Wars.
I really wish there was some more lore on the Subnautica universe. Have humans found other alien life? Is there intelligent life that they've found? What's war like? Is it more star wars or Halo? These are the questions I think when I hear "phase gate" and see ships like the Aurora
Well I assume they've found alien life elsewhere due to certain details present in the game. For example, one of the PDA's messages mentions a man who was able to fight off "arachnid kidney-poachers" and hijack a "starwhal", hinting at other alien life. As to whether this is the first time intelligent alien life has been found, I don't know. Looking at Natural Selection, which takes place in the same universe, you can get a glimpse at other worlds and alien species through posters around the levels. You can also get a glimpse at what warfare is like as that game has actual weapons and combat.
This is just one habitable planet in the subnautica universe, so we could have crash landed on a desert world were we hide in caves, extract moisture from the sand and find civilization. I have noticed on 4546b the sun goes from North-South instead of East-West like on earth. Which leaves me to believe that 4546b spins on its x-axis like Uranus
I've been wondering about the planet for awhile now. First off, why aren't there storms? I know it was by design but with all the water, you'd expect frequent storms of varying intensity. (Imagine a hurricane on the planet!) Secondly, I was curious how fast the world rotates 'cause I wanted to know how long a day was on the planet and how long it takes for 4546b to orbit its star. I know this is kinda nerdy but I'm obsessed with both of the games and I wanna know more about this.
It is strange that the water is calm, but it might be because of the moons that we see in the sky of the planet. Looking at the one that is furthest from the planet, it looks almost like our moon. Looking at the one closest, it is an orange/red color. The moon closest also seems to not reflect light from the star as much as the one furthest. Maybe the light on planet 4546B is not as strong as it is for us on earth, or it does have something to do with the moon closest to the planet. (I know that this is a dumb theory on my end, but I just thought it was interesting.)
The most terrifying thing is that planet 4546-b because of the size of the universe the chances of an near identical planet with the same life is probably higher than it not
I think the area that you inhabit in Subnautica lacks waves because it’s situated inside the crater of a giant volcano, it’s much more shallow than the rest of the planet, so they’d be broken up by the time it reaches that area like you mentioned
But the plantet does have storms, not when we play it but we hear it in data bank entries one being on the island and they were saying its the worst storm they ever seen and how they need to unflood the plants
The void explorer dlc would be a great idea (corsacs) but instead of exploring it you would be stranded in the most inhospitable place, a place unaffected by the tides. The twilight zone. You would be stranded there by one of the storms you find in sector zero, striking the small ship you are on down, the crew of aprox 10, would have two other survivors, but they are too far away and they die while talking to you, although you are in a inhospitable place you can send rovers out onto the deep sea floor to gather resources and come back, since you are trapped on the ship with oxygen running lut eventually you have to connect a pipe to the oceans surface, where you can activate a flare and get the rescue team to find you. You would have food scattered around the medium sized ship, and you would have a source of food, death grass, which is a kind of moss that grows on dead ghost leviathans.
(On the topic of other ocean covered planets) “so hopefully they dont have leviathan class creatures” 6 months later nasa discovers that due to the size of europas oceans it can support MASSIVE ailen creatures
The game gives the indication that the planet is near earth as the description for the doomsday device says it could wipe out the (solar system) that is the name for our star system not a general term for one.
4 billion years ago Earth didn't have any Leviathans or any of the impressive ecosphere that 4546B has evolved, but it was probably covered in water.Outside the habitable zone issue(which can be mitigated if for example 4546B has a very low concentration of greenhouse gases and is orbiting a relatively young star - either evolving life really fast, having a very small star(just big enough to be a yellow dwarf?) that will make it shine dimmer and last longer, having been a rogue planet before being captured by 4546(which would imply chemotrophs supported the biosphere until then, or at least in-between systems) or something else. Maybe the main issue would be the moons' closeness to the planet. We know Star Wars' Onderon and Dxun couldn't exist because the gravitational pull from being close enough to share an atmosphere would've made a Dxun crash into an Onderon.
@@TheLastBacon It could explain why a supposedly dead volcano still has flowing lava. Maybe the dead zone is so dead because the constant earthquakes and resulting tsunamis wreak havoc in the ecosystem so that only planktonic life too small to notice or leviathans large enough to withstand it can survive it.
There is a pretty steep tide/degradation level pulling at the sides of all the islands (most obvious on the mountain base island), and honestly, my one pet peeve about this game is that - of all the ways to make power they gave us - some goddamn turbines that could be pushed and generate electricity via the massive amounts of water surrounding us. Maybe it would have made the game too easy, but I argue that having to worry about coming back to a functional base after having to be gone for days looking for the Empress.
idk if anyone else already said this but about the no weather you're right that it doesnt make sense but im pretty sure the devs did plan to implement weather and tides at one point but it was too complicated or something so they scrapped the idea so its not because theres some magic keeping weather away from the crater its just unimplemented to the game
Subnautica game idea, we return to the crater, except, the volcano is active, and we have to rescue creature, fauna/flora, and generally just samples and specimens from flying debris. that would be so very cool, pun because it would be very hot.
One big question and it is about how cold it is in the lava zone because, remember, lava which is molten rock is 1000℃+ but the water around the lava zone is a mere 50℃ so maybe the planet's rocks are vastly different and have lower melting point and possibly smaller than ours
I’m just now realizing. Earth was also at one point completely covered in water. And the only things that were above water were massive volcanoes. And during that time a huge amount of creatures popped up. Is 4546B an early earth like planet? It has the same atmosphere! And the water is most likely just regular saltwater (because the filter creates water and salt) so this planet might be an early earth!
I would like the a spinoff game where it takes place on a reversed 4546b (mostly land with water here and there) and the void becomes the dead lands with their own land based leviathans
tides wouldn't really occur, seeing as the weather is mostly temperate with almost no clouds in the sky, meaning a lack of a convection current, and therefore almost no wind. sure the water would be moved by the gravitational pull of the two moons, however large waves would not occur all across the planets surface owing to the lack of fetch (or wind that blows against the water forming waves). However we can assume that there would be isolated extreme weather events, judging by the tectonic and volcanic activity demonstrated in the crater, as well as the snow storms that occur in sector zero, such as tsunamis or large storms. sorry for the rant lol
Well done video! By knowing a lot of things about astronomy I can say that you made a lot of research for the video! And for most stars the habitable zone is really small. So from a planet the star could even seem 5 times bigger than the Sun from Earth and have extremely low temperatures. Just one more thing: an ocean planet does not have any island and the depth of the planetary ocean should be hundreds of kilometers. Also the atmosphere should be made up mostly of water, which would kill every human. A planet like 4546b would be able to exist, just that it would be not an ocean planet.
From scientific point of view, with the moon on the sky is so big and close, its gravity can create very high tidal wave daily. It might even strong enough to dry the entire Lost rivers and turn the Safe shallow to become the peak of a volcano.
I have an idea for a dlc: deepest depths. You are INSERT GENERIC NAME - occupant of life pod 1. But your life pod sinked into the dead zone since your life pods things that make you stay on the water level didnt work. After a Long time of sinking, you hit bottom and those thingys i talked about before start to work. You expect that they Will carry you to the top but they stop almost instantly. Wondering what happened you get out of your life pod to see what is the problem. You realise you are in an air pocket cave. Your radio is too far deep to still work. Can you survive a totaly different enviorment, get to the top and regroup with anyone still alive?
Wind creates waves and differences in air pressure on different heights creates wind but because the whole planet is flat water no wind appeares and no waves are formed (i am not sure if this is how it works)
watching these videos makes me excited for the game lore even more,i just thought of something you know how subnautica below zero takes place on the same planet but its a different biome/island i like to think that the game map has even more potential and the developers are planning other games or DLC like imagine in 10 years they add several DLC that let us explore the whole planet and they make the map a little bigger which adds so much potential for new creatures, submarines and heck even new bases. Now i can't play the game so the experience i have for this game is thanks to you and i really would love seing several DLCs getting added to the game like that would be amazing but we can only hope that they are planning the new DLCs.I allso hope someday i get a better PC so i can enjoy this beautiful game :/
Thank you :) you're definitely right, there is still a ton of stuff we don't know about the planet that the devs could eventually give us! Whether in the form of DLC or sequels.
I think I know what subnautica 3 would be first of character customisation to make your character look unique and also select there gender then you would end up in a place in between the crater dead zone and the crater with all the vehicles from both subnauticaand below zero
im gonna do a theory the planet is extremely small as we could clearly see the below zero map is big but if you check the map its smaller than the crater which suggests that the planet is small and the planets life cycle was likely: a very small planet or even planetoid was formed, volcanoes formed and few erupted, skip forward to after meteors crashed down and the atmosphere formed soon these meteors gave birth to microscopic life which took into massive increse even in 8000m depths, they quickly evolved into the gargantuan creatures (which we see in the lost river) soon after the volcano crater we see today erupts probably 50% of fuana that lives near the crater dies most ignore it but when the plant life in the void gets mostly eaten and the life cycle is extremely long most herbivores and big carnivores migrate, the big carnivores migrate so they can hunt the herbivores, as most land is too small for the big creatures they transition into the lost river. soon after small volcanic eruptions happened the lost river caved in and soon the creatures couldnt escape due to small entrances/exits as seen the gargantuan leviathan skeleton is only 1/3 of its original size my explanation to this is that the other 2/3 is crushed due to a cave in during a cave in which killed it instantly (the creatures probably evolved into smaller creatures) soon the precursers come and capture the "biter leviathan" soon they capture other creatures/creature eggs for study, sea dragon attacks kharra happens and blah blah blah
I think our PTA lied to us. If the entire map isn’t a crater and that means there would be tiny little walls around it because that’s how a crater is formed of something impacting in the landscape being pushed to the side since matter cannot be destroyed however when we go to the dead zone which is basically the edge of the so-called crater there is no wall that is pushed up from the landscape or the impact of an unknown object it’s just a straight down so it can’t be a crater
I dont think the crater is actually a volcanic crater. its shaped wrong. Its either just the peak of a volcano, or we're on the central uplift of a complex impact crater. The latter would explain why we don't see significant waves - they're slamming into the outer wall of the crater! The only problem is that would be very visible from space...
I would love a Void Explorer DLC, imagine taking a gigantic Submarine around the void and finding smaller craters that have unique species and technology to discover. It would be amazing

Definitely sounds like a terrifying place to find yourself :) but I'd still love to see it!
Everybody gangsta till you crash on a irl planet with water and you are the only person alive.
That certainly doesn't sound like fun :)
@@TheLastBacon haven’t you commented on every comment I comment LOL
(On the topic of other ocean covered planets) “so hopefully they dont have leviathan class creatures”
6 months later nasa discovers that due to the size of europas oceans it can support MASSIVE ailen creatures
Well then.... :D look out for lasers!
Fun fact: you can actually see Sector Zero in the Neptune rocket animation
Yep true :)
The game gives the indication that the planet is near earth as the description for the doomsday device says it could wipe out the (solar system) that is the name for our star system not a general term for one.
Well I imagine they just mean that in regard to the scale :)
Thanks for making amazing videos.
Thank you for watching them :)
Yeah I'd imagine the proximity of the moons could cause some extreme weather or earthquakes :)
Oh yeah I totally agree :) luckily there are some mods that fix the issue and add a lot of helpful tools!
idk if anyone else already said this but about the no weather you're right that it doesnt make sense but im pretty sure the devs did plan to implement weather and tides at one point but it was too complicated or something so they scrapped the idea so its not because theres some magic keeping weather away from the crater its just unimplemented to the game
Yeah you’re right :) It’s a shame the weather never made it in.
Subnautica game idea, we return to the crater, except, the volcano is active, and we have to rescue creature, fauna/flora, and generally just samples and specimens from flying debris. that would be so very cool, pun because it would be very hot.
I like the idea! :)
One big question and it is about how cold it is in the lava zone because, remember, lava which is molten rock is 1000℃+ but the water around the lava zone is a mere 50℃ so maybe the planet's rocks are vastly different and have lower melting point and possibly smaller than ours
You could be right about that.....otherwise the lava could definitely not exist there :)
It is a very good point :) Yeah perhaps it is like Earth a long time ago!
I would like the a spinoff game where it takes place on a reversed 4546b (mostly land with water here and there) and the void becomes the dead lands with their own land based leviathans
Land-based leviathans sound so terrifying :)
And he’s back with another good vid
Haha glad you like it :)
7:03 The chance's are not at zero...... THEY ARE BELOW ZERO ha ha ha.... it was so dry 😅
Haha end me :D
You know how cool it would be if humans could breath under water and colonise a planet like 4546b
Would certainly be kinda cool :)
tides wouldn't really occur, seeing as the weather is mostly temperate with almost no clouds in the sky, meaning a lack of a convection current, and therefore almost no wind. sure the water would be moved by the gravitational pull of the two moons, however large waves would not occur all across the planets surface owing to the lack of fetch (or wind that blows against the water forming waves). However we can assume that there would be isolated extreme weather events, judging by the tectonic and volcanic activity demonstrated in the crater, as well as the snow storms that occur in sector zero, such as tsunamis or large storms.
sorry for the rant lol
Yeah perhaps you're right :) I'd just imagine the crazy proximity of the moons would cause some extreme weather.
U had a perfect opportunity to say that the chances of another planet like 4546B wouldn't be Below Zero
Haha dang missed it :D
Love these videos
Thank you! :) Glad you do!
Awsome video. I hope we get to explore some other areas of the planet maybe even see what is on that blasted moon.
Thank you very much :) that would be awesome indeed!
@@TheLastBacon i was not expecting to get a reply from you
Now my respect for you has risen
Well done video!
By knowing a lot of things about astronomy I can say that you made a lot of research for the video!
And for most stars the habitable zone is really small. So from a planet the star could even seem 5 times bigger than the Sun from Earth and have extremely low temperatures.
Just one more thing: an ocean planet does not have any island and the depth of the planetary ocean should be hundreds of kilometers. Also the atmosphere should be made up mostly of water, which would kill every human. A planet like 4546b would be able to exist, just that it would be not an ocean planet.
Good points! :)
I just want to dive into an ocean/sea, but wanna start with a lake, is it really possible!? I know it is but i want to know how??
If you mean scuba diving it's definitely possible and a lot of fun! :)
The crater and the sector is quite interesting if I say so myself, I wonder what other creatures and horror lie in the other sides of the planet.
Yeah it is definitely a good question :)
There have been some planets cover in water and other liquids
WAIT: THERES A HOT CHOCOLATE COVERD PLANET
Haha I certainly hope so :)
From scientific point of view, with the moon on the sky is so big and close, its gravity can create very high tidal wave daily. It might even strong enough to dry the entire Lost rivers and turn the Safe shallow to become the peak of a volcano.
Yep would be interesting to see some extreme weather implemented in that way :)
Oh I would absolutely love a Subnautica game set deep underwater in the pitch black :) could be so cool!
We can see Sector 0 When we launch the rocket in Subnautica too
True :)
So its basically a bunch of deep water with some shallow water and some crater islands with lots of bio diversity near it or am I missing something?
That's basically it :)
Planet 4546B may be based on the real-life planet Gliese 1214B, as both appear similar in appearance, and are both "water worlds".
A cool and terrifying thought :)
@@TheLastBacon too bad we'll never get to go there in our lifetime. REALLY pisses me off!!
Wind creates waves and differences in air pressure on different heights creates wind but because the whole planet is flat water no wind appeares and no waves are formed (i am not sure if this is how it works)
Maybe, but then again, there are some wildly differing temperatures (sector 0) so maybe that combined with the moisture could? :)
I want to go to the real life planet 4546b, if im not dead. Ah screw it, ill go into spectator mode when i die
Just place your bed nearby so you respawn close :)
watching these videos makes me excited for the game lore even more,i just thought of something you know how subnautica below zero takes place on the same planet but its a different biome/island i like to think that the game map has even more potential and the developers are planning other games or DLC like imagine in 10 years they add several DLC that let us explore the whole planet and they make the map a little bigger which adds so much potential for new creatures, submarines and heck even new bases.
Who knows :) if Below Zero is a success, I could totally see them make a 3rd game!
im gonna do a theory
the planet is extremely small as we could clearly see the below zero map is big but if you check the map its smaller than the crater which suggests that the planet is small
and the planets life cycle was likely: a very small planet or even planetoid was formed, volcanoes formed and few erupted, skip forward to after meteors crashed down and the atmosphere formed soon these meteors gave birth to microscopic life which took into massive increse even in 8000m depths, they quickly evolved into the gargantuan creatures (which we see in the lost river) soon after the volcano crater we see today erupts probably 50% of fuana that lives near the crater dies most ignore it but when the plant life in the void gets mostly eaten and the life cycle is extremely long most herbivores and big carnivores migrate, the big carnivores migrate so they can hunt the herbivores, as most land is too small for the big creatures they transition into the lost river. soon after small volcanic eruptions happened the lost river caved in and soon the creatures couldnt escape due to small entrances/exits as seen the gargantuan leviathan skeleton is only 1/3 of its original size my explanation to this is that the other 2/3 is crushed due to a cave in during a cave in which killed it instantly (the creatures probably evolved into smaller creatures) soon the precursers come and capture the "biter leviathan" soon they capture other creatures/creature eggs for study, sea dragon attacks kharra happens and blah blah blah
I think that is a very solid explanation of what went down :) sounds very believable to me!
You should do a lore vid on the alien sunflower-like organisms with The x shaped eyes
Do you mean the ones from Below Zero? :)
What is with that satellite at 5:33?
Just some footage from an old version of Below Zero :)
Spoiler:
Its the vesper
But why did robin from below zero go back to planet 4546b if thers only water and its already discoverd by riley?
Well Ryley definitely didn’t discover everything on the planet :)
Reminds me about the planet Tau Volantis before the Markers
Haven't played Dead Space in forever :)
The Last Bacon oops spoilers sorry
I think our PTA lied to us. If the entire map isn’t a crater and that means there would be tiny little walls around it because that’s how a crater is formed of something impacting in the landscape being pushed to the side since matter cannot be destroyed however when we go to the dead zone which is basically the edge of the so-called crater there is no wall that is pushed up from the landscape or the impact of an unknown object it’s just a straight down so it can’t be a crater
It is a crater :) but of a volcano, it slowly filled up with cooled material.
I think that intro card had a portal reference right on it 👀
You're definitely correct :)
Yeah it’s the peak of a volcanic crater that has filled up with cooled material :)
I think they should make the next game (if they make one) about living in the past with all the massive leviathans
Oh that would be soooo cool :)
i have good news, im making my own subnuatica 3, if you leave the planet and pay the debt, below zero happens, if you stay, my game happens.
Nice :)
