MES just keeps going up in my estimation. By God, he was articulate and stuck to his principles..I'm 53 in August but I'm only just beginning to appreciate his music and intellect...by my age, he'd packed three lifetimes of learning in compared to me. I am humbled. RIP, Mark, hope we can have a few pints together if I'm lucky enough to be allowed past the Gates...
Priceless comment about the NME: "They don't give me anything, they're all jealous, they all want to be me" "So why you do the interviews, then?" "We like taking the piss out of them" LOL!! :)
A great Fall tune and Coldcut's finest moment (though their Journeys by DJ mix was aight!) Any tune that references Gretchen Franklin deserves an Ivor Novello... (PS was that synth squark at the end the beginning of the Pet Shop Boys 'Paninaro'?)
He was great and left us with great records and live audio and video recordings. I'm sorry he became such a mess. I saw them in 1994 and he was too wasted to sing or stand. I was upset. I still love the music, but his drinking only got worse, and by the 2000s he was no longer a deadly, sneering artist; he became an impotent, babbling , unintelligible old drunk. I say this as a huge fan who was sorry to see him go down that way. I feel the same way about Shane of the Pogues.
Telephone Thing rythm pattern nicked off a demo tape track titled " TIME" a musician fan sent in. Some lyrics too. MES is rather good but he's not all that good, original.

Joey is an apt moniker for you.
And it's rhythm, not rythm.
