So true that it’s hard to ask or to accept help without feeling like a failure.

I am a live-in full time caregiver. According to our jurisdiction I am told I cannot leave, no other family members to help, massive expenses upkeeping my parents house. I had to abandon my city, home, career to take care of my parents because they refused to do anything decades ago to plan for their elder care.

I have a few family members who are telling me "they will help" or I tell them I need help and I can't handle it any more, " they are sooo negative and I am totally dealing with our mom on my own 24/7

My husband has palliative care and they always ask if I need help. I say I’m ok. Cause my husband doesn’t want any other help or me being gone very long. There is no good answer. Not complaining. But also . I have to keep up with all the inside home outside home repairs bills shopping. There is no time anyway you look at it. I feel most caregivers are like me and say they are ok because it make your person feel a burden. I can’t admit to palliative care I’m struggling. Idk what would happen. Hoping more ppl comment how they are handling things alone.

I'm going through same with parents plus everything breaking down no help from anyone etc....I've let it go too far...my advice get help now before it gets to the point I'm at department of. Human services has a respite program where they give you vouchers you can pay a family member or a friend to sit for a couple hours or a couple of days you might want to check into that..

Yeah elder relatives etc watching from a distance (laughing)secretly getting sadistically entertained by phone all the Caretaking duties you have to go through. Hoping you'll quit,so they can move in for the kill of $$ and collect the Life insurance money since your Sole Beneficiary in collecting the Life Insurance. NO one cares because they're hoping you burn out quit. They only care about what they can get!!!

I hear you and I’ve been there. My sister had ALS, my mom was aging, I was helping with my aunt, and then, my first grandchildren, twins, were born two months early. I tried taking my sister to an ALS group so we could get some psychological support, but it was too sad for her, because everybody else there had a loving partner and she was divorced. I eventually joined an online support group that I could go to in the middle of the night or any time of day. That helped because all those people “got it”. I hope you can find some support and some rest. ❤

How does one ask for help??? Been burned out before my mother started dialysis with her 24/7 care since 2015 I've asked the other family members who said the would help and haven't, I've spoke to the Dr's and nurses and her advocate. They all knew I was burnt out before the in home dialysis started last year but they have done nothing to help just a lot of well we can't force others to help you, but I've been forced to do all this that I never wanted to do and I need help. My Dr said I'm suffering from chronic stress and I'm on 5 new pills to control all the problems caused by this. How does one get help?? Really debating going to live in my car as I just I can't keep it up and I can't get any help. So what's the magic spell to get them to help with her care?
