    This video just made life harder deciding in the RC world. My son and I have our list of RC trucks, etc. He's upgraded and can operate really fast huge trucks at extreme speeds. I decided to test his skill to see if he has it. He mastered a beginner drone in 20min. Ok, well, now lets get out of so-so drones which wasn't the cheap $50 drone but a solid beginner format. I went into a local shop that only ships worldwide and doesn;'t have a storefront for the public who only deals with race drones. Like real deal race drones. They were really cool and showed me around the shop and what they have. He went into extreme detail and chatted for hours after closing. I owe their being so cool a major thumbs up. They only focus on race drones. So after we went through whats best, I have to choose as commercial drones are NOT race drones. I want to get a pair of mini race drones to get him ready. Then we can upgrade later to full race drones. But then, I wanted an even more insane race drone but for a 9yr old is way too much. So if I got that, I could get him a lighter watered down version race drone. But then I want this EC-1500 and had my eyes on it. The shop I normall go to thats been around since I was a kid is ordering me a good sized Blade 330 Helicopter with carbon fiber blades, etc. But then they also have an eFlight F18 that is also awesome. I then bought a DJI Mini3 drone but would rather have the DJI Avata 2 or the DJI Mini 4 Pro. Can't decide but should relax a bit. I am ok but ordered the RealFlight Evolution so little dude can really get good on the sticks and will arrive tomorrow. I need to step away from this scene for a bit. This hobby is no joke and costly. Breaking the rc trucks all the time and now stepping into planes as I missed my ol childhood days flying helicopters and planes. It'll get him off the ridiculous eletronics and outside we used to do as kids in the late 70s and early 80s. Those that were older in the 70s and not a little kid know what it was like to enjoy life withouth distractions of fake social media, etc. Anyways, good video. I think I have to keep this one at the top of the list.

    First of all, I really enjoy your videos. I've crafted and published hundreds of videos (for my employers) so, I know a little bit about how time consuming it can be to publish good ones.
    The EC-1500 was "on sale" recently so, I bought one based on your review. I am looking forward to getting it airborne and adding some (rather unusual) custom mods later down the road.
    Thank you!

    Great review and comments. This will be very helpful with my new V2 that I got at Joe Nall Week. Two other features that you did not mention is that for those of us living in space confined areas, my condo, it is very convenient that the plane comes apart for transport and storage. Not only do the wings come off, but it’s stabilizers as well. It makes it much narrower. I saw the comment about concerns about the winging not being able to take the stress of 3D. The thickness of the wings spar is the thickest carbon fiber rod I’ve ever seen on a plane of this size. Keep up the good flying and good work.

    Gotta agree with 99% of this.
    I am also biased as I'm on my third one of these. Bought and crashed (after many flights) my first V1, replaced that with a second hand one, then Horizon gifted me a V2.
    One of my favorite planes. So versatile and fun.
    Only negatives and not exactly negatives, more of a do this wrong and it will bite you thing.
    If you're a little slow making a turn and add a little rudder into the turn it can snap into the death spiral. Easy to avoid but something to be aware of.
    And in high energy maneuvers with hard elevator pulls it can experience an accelerated stall and roll out. Again just something to be aware of not really a fault in the design.
    Good video, good flying as always.
    Keep up the good work Jon 👍

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  Рік тому

      It's important to note that almost any airframe can be put into an accelerated stall. The only ones that can't are limited by-design, such as the 70mm F-16 from E-flite/FMS. There isn't enough throw on the tiny elevator to force the wings to break airflow at any airspeed.

    Looks like you have setup a lot of mixing with flaps and ailerons. Hardware wise, is it capable of that “out of the box”? It looked like you had done some of the same with the V1. Did you have to do any modifications (receiver, servo wiring, etc.) to get it to work on the V1? Did you opt for the wider flap or aileron configuration?

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  Рік тому

      Everything we showed here is the full potential of the model as it ships from the factory. All you need is a transmitter with enough channels to follow the setup guide we posted. It uses the large flap configuration with full span ailerons.

      We reached out to Horizon about the joiner sections on V1 and got a new wing when we described the issue - long before we got serious with UA-cam. If you explain that you're looking for those components only, you may be able to buy them or they may send them to you. Doesn't hurt to ask.

    I had the v1 plane for about a year. Out of the 20 eflite models I've owned and flown, this was the worst plane I had. The door was useless, the props are so low they are easy to prop strike on landings and takeoff. Yes it was powerful and aerobatic, but I hated 3d flying, not because of the plane but every flying field I took it to if get non stop comments about how it's not a 3d plane and the wings can't take the load and I should stop 3d flying it. I was happy the day it finally sold.

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  Рік тому +1

      Being entirely objective: if you're prop striking, you're making a mistake somewhere in your piloting. Either you're not correcting for a crosswind (pilot error) or you're coming in tilted when landing (pilot error) - if it had smaller propellers, it wouldn't have the same performance that we're showcasing here.
      We're not sure how people telling you how to fly has any bearing on the plane. Fly how you want. If some crusty old guy doesn't like how you fly, tell them to get bent. It's your plane and you can fly it how you want.

    • @mattfox4027
      @mattfox4027 Рік тому

      @@TwoBrosRC people over your shoulder telling you what to do while your flying makes it frustrating.
      As for the prop strikes, if the props are two inches off the ground and the grass is an inch and three quarters long. You have a quarter inch to play with. I never wrecked a prop, but damn, this plane was honestly the least fun to fly. It's just, not good. The gimmicks didn't work, and the nest inside for wiring was terrible. I had a servo go out and it was an absolute nightmare to replace. I'll stick with my Pitts 850 or my extra 300.

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  Рік тому

      Grass clearance is a fact of life for any pilot flying from grass, be it props or jets. It can't really be an EC-1500 if the wheelbase is extended so that the model doesn't clip grass when it takes off and lands. Even Timbers and other similar models will cut grass if it's long enough. Sometimes the issue lies in the choice of flying field. For what it's worth, yeah, ours did occasionally clip the grass when we flew it off grass, but it's kinda hard to hold that against the plane when we chose to fly from a field that had unkempt grass.
      Sorry to hear your experiences weren't good, but we wholeheartedly disagree that this plane has "gimmicks" - because it flies exceptionally well. If you ever consider one again, try setting it up the way ours is. You'll most likely find it a lot more enjoyable.
