How much heavier is it, can u put it on a head camera over your head about 10 inches or is it to heavy, I do it w the one x2

Great comparison Stewart, you can seeing the difference those one inch sensors make. But I'm sticking with the One X2, which I use mainly for social media posts, which most people consume on mobile devices, so quality diffection wouldn't really be notice. But I was doing of professional work, like virtual tours, this would be my 360 camera of choice. Thanks for sharing.

Great video, im so close on getting the RS 1 Ince Edition but I have some quick questions... Is it possible to buy a spare battery? Or is that not really needed for most users? I want to use a 360 cam to help make better social media vids for my nature walks and birding photography as im tired of killing my phones battery and having that overheat all the time lol. Also, is it ideal to get the insta360 quick connect and physically attach it to my phone/tablet (while out in the field) rather than the wifi connection to my mobile devices? Do both cameras work well after 20-30 minutes continuous shooting?????
I currently do 20-30 minute video shoots with wearing a 2K glasses video camera while riding a bicycle or walking, I hope both of these Insta360 cameras can operate that long. Also do daytime indoor video shoots (lights on) with my 2K glasses (stationary or moving). My videos with the glasses are OK, but the tiny camera has no stabilization with the glasses, so walking there is some bouncing, riding the bike is better with the glasses. In a car they are great. FOV of the glasses is not bad, but nothing like these Insta360 cameras.

I was really hoping it would come with a higher resolution sensor. For my application I need at least 90+mp 360 photos, I think the lenses are up to the task, but the sensor resolution isn't cutting it. That said, this is probably easily the best 360 video camera under $1k hands down. I may buy one for video and limited 360 photo use.
I have this camera on order because it looks like it exactly fits my needs for POV trail running. There are a ton of X2 users spamming reviews/articles of this camera with a lot of hate but as you say this is no way intended to be a successor to the X line. I am solely interested in good image quality with a long run time and weight, bulk, and price are of little concern for someone like me who does this work semi professionally.
Seeing this example footage and comparisons gives me a great idea of what to expect.

Imo the trade off is not worth it for the minimal better image/video quality compared to the weight and convenience difference.
I'm still using my GoPro Max and hoping we get a sequel this year. The image quality of the new RS 1-inch looks great but that price point is a little too steep

Is this “natural FOV” something you can only do in the insta 360 studio? I don’t see this option when using the iPhone app. I’m using a one X2 if that matters.
dear I expect to see difference in terms of use cases .... I need to know where I can use which camera? I know there are some less scope for RS 1 inch as that is in two bodies not one, so where I can't use? I think that's not waterproof even ... I watched all just to get the answer ... this video comparison I can even get to know by seeing the specs sheet that more MP means better quality (for two same company products) and big sensor means good stuff ... my question is what are the areas where I can't use One RS 1 inch?

@@DroneFilmGuide Pleasure, you are actually the first channel that answers the question I had on the quality. All the others just say it is fine and you export in 4K. You have highlighted the shortcoming on video quality fantastic and now I know where to look and decide if it will work for me or not and to decide if I should change one of my gopros to a 360 camera (FYI - I make 4x4 videos and shoot solo most of the time).

I have been in the market for my first 360 camera since the GoPro 360 came out years ago. But I’m still not convinced by the quality of these devices. I really think 360 cameras need 2-3 years more until they are really useful. The new insta is so cool though.

I can see the improvement but don't think it's worth double the price, but then with higher end kit you pay more for diminishing returns.

My primary interest is to get the best 360 video quality/clarity for use in Oculus Quest VR goggles. My impression is that there is a significant improvement over the Insta360 One x2 (which I already own). I decided to order the new camera after watching your video and many others currently posted on UA-cam.

How was the quality when you view videos in Oculus? Are they decent? Cuz i'm in the market for 360 camera solely for vid capability and seriously considering 1inch and GoPro max and X2
@@Mc-os1yc The video quality of the One RS 1” is better than the One X2 or the GoPro Max when viewed in the Oculus goggles. You can make it even better by using the Topaz software Video Enhance AI which really makes the videos pop in terms of clarity and resolution.

How is the new ONE RS 1-Inch with Google Streetview? I have the original OneX and that works really well, but feel the other cams they have released dont work as easy to record and upload to Streetview.

I have a question, does Insta360 RS 1 ichn work with google street view? I need a webcam to take 360 panoramas directly from the google application, with GPS downloading in the intervelomer mode. Unfortunately, the Insta360 X2 camera falls off: (because I have already tested it.

Thanks! It’s 150W continuous LED with 120cm octobox. Nothing special to be honest, just a massive diffuser!
Being very honest: photo does look way better. But the video is completely over sharpened. Is that straight out of camera? Did you apply heavy post sharpening? Especially those thin lines/ropes on the boat shot are nothing but awful... Seems like triple lines: white, black, white... White being super halo by oversharpening. Unless this can be adjusted through settings I find that footage close unusable for serious work.
Rumor is there will be an hdr video firmware update. Do you know anything about it?

360 cameras should have at least 8K resolution in order to get a reframed 4K video which shows around half of the advertised resolution.

I feel i need to buy this right away
I am sending back my RS Twin edition today and deciding to downgrade to the X2 for the better stitching, portability, and cost. Or upgrade to the new 1" version.
I got the RS thinking yay modular!~ but the cost difference between upgrading ($650) and the whole thing ($800) makes it nearly a wash, if not actually more expensive when you paid over $500 for the RS and most people probably wont use the old 360 lens at all anymore unless they are doing very active shooting situations that require t he increased durability and form factor.
This video is exactly what I am trying to decide right now, it would be neat if the 1" 4K action lens also fit on this setup, because the same situation applies, pay for the 1" 4K lens and in my case I would never probably use the 4K boost lens anymore, and thus be paying extra for no reason and there is no kit that I found that has the 1" 4K lens and the 360 lens together to get some kind of decent out of the box kit without much spending waste.
So now ideally, while expensive I am sure the best "value" for someone like me would be a 1" bundle that has everything needed for the 4K 1" and 1" 360 lens in one kit without the basic lens preventing buying something extra you wont use.
I am still stuck in the middle unfortunately, because I actually do have a chance to possibly do some virtual tour work if I want to, and I also have a lot of 360 footage I plan to take for my channel in low light situations. However the old saying "the best camera is the one with you" I can see taking the X2 with me all the time for evening outings and such and capturing memories and moments that otherwise I would not get, and the X2 being slimmer suffers less from stitching issues in close quarters, and the weight makes it much easier to use the long selfie stick or carry around for a long time.
I have read that the x2 is worse than the ra 360... isn't that right?
@@exceptico6156 I don't think there is enough difference to notice. The RS has a more powerful core, but the lens and sensor are the same and that's the real deciding factor.

It’s a 1” sensor and of cos when u zoom in and compare both system, the 1” will be better.
If 1” sensor is not better, somethings wrong.
Furthermore, people view travel logs and any kind of video on mobile phone and tablets. It will not be noticeable and no one will zoom in to the videos and picked on the quality.
It’s the content that people watched.
Unless this 1” unit has video qualities like a vcd/dvd compare to a bluray. Else it’s not waterproof, the price is not justifiable

No, much as we are big fans of the system, if you want 'standard' shots with little or no motion you'd be better off with a smartphone, e.g. a locked off shot of a real estate interior or exterior. The remaining problem that will one day be solved with loads more resolution is when you crop in to a linear field of view the resulting resolution is really quite low.

The export is 4K but you're right, the actual input footage by the time you crop in to a natural FOV is less.

Dear Stewart thank you for this amazing review. I am close to buy the new camera, but I worry about the lens distance to the objects. 50cm distance with a wide lens makes it impossible to shoot close ups like food etc..pp. I am I right ? Thank you for your kind reply in advance.
You certainly need to take it on a case by case scenario but around the stitching line you cannot have anything closer than 50 cm, that is correct. Having said that, if you’re not doing full 360 video then just make sure you have the lens pointed at the subject if you are planning on being closer and not the stitching line.

I was excited for this thing when I heard about it, but I think waiting for a new ONE X3 is the best option. Because I really just want a good action cam. And the ONE RS 1-Inch, isn't that.
are you sure the new X3 will be much better than X2? haha. They will not kill 1-inch Leica with cheaper X3. There is no business logic in that. Think about it
@@lozhkin Yeah I figured as much. Cannibalising sales is certainly a thing to avoid. But the X2 was around alongside the other RS models without issue because the RS selling feature is its modular design. And this new version has no action cam mode. The X2 is pretty outdated at this point, considering once you export video it's not much better than 1080p. I'll stick with my X2 until an X3 appears since I use it mostly for snowboarding.

Nice details and information, I’ve never bought a insta camera before but I do own a vuze HumanEyes camera and I am very pleased with its performance, just not a fan of the software rendering side. So I’ve just purchased this 1 inch sensor version for travel to use with my oculus quest 2 and hopefully post production will get a lot more easier.
Regarding the waterproofing issue, I don’t think it is an issue, I think that I would be very cautious dipping a £900 camera into harsh salty water and ruining those beautiful Leica lenses. If you know water action is your thing then there’s already a camera that’s built with this activity in mind.

Sharpness is still very bad :(
Nobody is really competing in this space. There is only 1 competitor in the Ricoh Theta z1. The quality diff isnt huge at all with the same resolution, but the bigger sensor does get you less noise and more sharpness, but not a huge amount more. The Theta sucks at video, so the competitor may really be the Theta X with its better video specs. For prosumer, I expected 8k photos and 5.7k videos would have been ok because its just so difficult to get up to 8k these days with hardware that wont overheat. I have the old Gopro Omni(I got for $250, yup only $250) which cranks out 12k stills and 8k video. The Omni is a legit nightmare, but the quality really is solid under fixed position type shots.
For somereasom i am still on my X2.... The feel mono and compact. ... And seems durable more to be atttached on the motorcycle rather than modular. Just my opinion.
Amazing, continuous innovation from Insta360 makes the Insta360 ONE RS 1 - INCH 360 EDITION certainly an improvement from the previous generation. Regardless of the weakness I want to have it soon

(€769.99 is for the upgrade kit) The price is actually €939.00 if you do not already own a instsa 360r or r1 🤔
Great review. I have to say am disappointed they did not improve lense protection .
Definitely vulnerable to scratching but there are some protectors on the way.

When they brought out one inch sensors in normal cameras like the fz1000 and rx10 the image quality was far better than on the small sensored point and shoots. Thats what your paying for and tbh its not that much more than than the others
Video is very similar, just some more noise in shadows on x2, but not any significant detail difference (if anything it has LESS details in shadows than x2, but you presented that as a good thing lol), definitely not worth double price.
