American by birth but from Welsh stock that goes back to Rhys ap Thomas, who supposedly offer Richard III. It's the one place I'd love to visit, especially around Carmarthen, where Granddaddy Rhys was from. My heart warms a little every time I hear anything of Wales. ❣
I’m realizing that Irish and Welsh accents sound similar. My youngest brother is learning Irish Gaelic currently. We really hope to see where my great grandparents grew up one day. 🙏
@@sarahelizabeth778as a welsh person, they don’t sound at all similar to me. Also, welsh accents are completely different depending on where the person is from.
Well wales and Ireland are both Celtic countries so the accents and native languages sounds very similar since we’re basically the same people so we have similar accents to an extent
@@dgb8116 Welsh and Irish are both Celtic languages but they’re not mutually intelligible nor particularly similar. Welsh is in the same language group as Cornish and Breton. Irish is in the Goidelic group, alongside Scottish Gaelic and Manx, which it is much more similar to.

As someone who’s a very frequent visitor to North Wales, this is very accurate (too an extent). I’d say this is more of a South Welsh accent, North Welsh accent is more boomy and flat.
before i start learning new languages im gonna try to learn urdu and punjabi, i can speak them decently, and have convos with my family, and i do use english words every once in a while, but cant read or write, i plan to get like B2 vocab even B1 would be fine learning to read and write would be good too
