Ship sims are so underrated if people will fly real time in Microsoft’s flight sim around the world I’m pretty sure people would deliver cargo around the world by sea
I agree. I'd like to think Microsoft could use the base of MSFS (scenery, weather etc.) to make a new ship sim if they wanted to. I don't believe MSFS should be made to work as a fully-fledged ship sim (too much code bloat for those who only want flight, and vice versa), but adding hydrodynamic simulation to the scenery and weather engine could spawn a great new ship sim.
Hello Jason, another very nice report from you about Virtual Sailor NG. Small updates for the Baltic Sea, with more harbors and improvements will follow. Many thanks for this and have fun exploring the scenery and testing the ships. Regards Thorsten
Thanks for the mention! the bridge emitting texture was a phase a few years ago amongst us modders, its a simple fix and I wouldn`t mind sending it to you?
Thanks, I'd really appreciate it if you could. I'm actually sailing Pavo in the Baltic Sea as I write this. There's an email address on my channel page. I have a test video of Navismaster recorded to go up next week too.
@axeonalias Would you be willing to release the fix publicly for the Pavo and your Navena trawler? I've recently bought both and have been enjoying using them, but the bright textures do make it a pain to use them at night.
Yeah, it seems like Ships at Sea is trying to give ETS2/ATS style gameplay with its cargo missions, but that map is quite small, and it has other issues at the moment.
How is the scale of the world map? Lets say you'd be crazy enough to go from Rotterdam to New York, how long would it approximately take to complete a trip like that?
As far as I can ascertain, the world is as near to 1:1 scale as possible, and time is real time. There's no fast-travel or time compression as such, but you can teleport your vessel to any point in the world if, for example, you didn't want to do the mid-part of the Atlantic crossing.
Are there not any play thing added - meaning transporting passengers from A - B or something realistic to make a mission/game out of it? In that case I would quit surely buy it, it has a good finish etc.
No, there are no missions. It's really a sandbox where you decide for yourself what you're going to do. I accept that's not for everyone, and some people like more structure and direction in their games.
F1 key is 1st person cam. F2 is 3rd person. Press Shift+V to bring up "Views" window and see preset 1st person views. Main keys 1-4 switch between the first 4 preset views, then use Shift+Tab to access any others that might be set. When you're in a particular 1st person view, use numpad keys to move around. 2,4,6,8 tilt the view. 0 & . for up and down. 1 & 3 for strafe left and right. 7 & 9 for back and forth. 5 resets view tilt back to central. Note that this is only a drone-style cam, so you will fly through structure and decks. You're not "walking" on a physical deck.
Hello TransportDepot Awesome and fun video. Im just getting into Virtual Sailor NG and learning it. Is there a way I can start/spawn already docked as you did here? Messing around with this Maersk container ship and I can only get it placed close to the dock through trail and error when setting up a new situation.
No, you can't spawn already docked. The best you can really do is dock it manually and then save it as a new situation so that next time you can open that same situation with it already docked. Just be sure to "freeze motion" before saving though, otherwise, when you open the situation, you may find that it's jumped over the quay wall in some horrible way.
I'm using the Reshade profile from Rob's VSF Addons. That's giving it a more realistic colour, if that's what you're referring too. Everything else is just done in the VSNG settings.
It's not suitable for real training to a professional level. That's where Nautis comes in. However, for somebody with limited experience of boat handling, radar operation, it's a simplified starting point.
Yes, the base game, Virtual Sailor NG is on Steam. The add-on ships and scenery featured in this video need to be bought and downloaded from the SIM3D website though, and installed manually.
See SIM3D's full range of VSNG ships and scenery add-ons here: sim3d.snabbserver.com/
Would love a good passenger ship simulator - not on the market I guess

Though not really a ship simulator, the closest thing you described is probably Stormworks
we need realistic ship simulator now!
Well you are right I have vehicle simulator and virtual sailor (I play mostly vehicle sim) I do real routes in Greece by greek ferries its pretty nice
No ones gonna do that in real time ppl can do 14 hour flights but ships can take 14days+
Hello Jason,

Thanks Thorsten. I'm having fun with the Baltic Sea.
That was a very in-depth review of all the vessels! Glad you enjoyed them and thank you for the fantastic video. :)
You're welcome. I appreciate your support.
I appreciate you reviewing some of the Sim3D stuff since it tends to get rather pricey to trial and error those ...
I saw you show Port of Malmö, Im from Sweden and live close to this area, Im also building my own ports and Scenery's and also my own ships.
That's excellent. VSNG could use some more scenery.

Yep know Smyril sailing with it atleast twice a month
Lol. That's my ferry, 10 min down from my house. Have even worked on that bridge
Cool!
Would love to see something like this wuith ETS2/ATS style gameplay and keeping the map size.
Yeah, it seems like Ships at Sea is trying to give ETS2/ATS style gameplay with its cargo missions, but that map is quite small, and it has other issues at the moment.
all it needs now is the titanic and its sister ships
What settings do you use to get the water to look like that? Mine looks dull and not very detailed in comparison, thanks!

Just so you are aware, there is a way to speed up and slow down time. It’s one of the function buttons.
I love this!
For the double ramps in the ferry is there multiple animation commands or is it just one?

Did you ever find a game like this with missions?
@@callmethreeone Nope, but I wish there was a career thing transporting people from a to b in this game, still almost like a sandbox
I am sorry, how do you move around the decks and (for example) go to the bridge? Thanks

@@TheTransportDepot Thanks very much Im using Reshade but not sure if I configured it enough.
Is there a way to speed up the sim rate though?? I haven’t found anything
I don't believe so. It's designed to be real-time.
Hello sir. Can you make a video about your graphics because they look amazing. Thanks!
I just use the Reshade profile from Rob's VSF AddOns (Robert Neath). Running on a 3080TI.
@@TheTransportDepot thank you.
One question. Can i use this simulator for real training? Thank you
It's not suitable for real training to a professional level. That's where Nautis comes in. However, for somebody with limited experience of boat handling, radar operation, it's a simplified starting point.
How can i download this game?
Can you lose cargo in large storms?
No, not in this game. The cargo is just a static visual element and doesn't effect displacement, stability etc. in any way.
What game is this? This just popped up into my feed.
Virtual Sailor NG
Can You make a free one for mobile?
What's the spec of ur PC?
i9-12900, RTX3080TI, 32GB ram. To be fair, Virtual Sailor is an old game, so it doesn't make full use of high-spec hardware.
Is Virtual Sailor compatible with IOS Devices?
No.
All the good games are never made compatible with IOS Devices!!!
Top
is it on steam?
Yes, the base game, Virtual Sailor NG is on Steam. The add-on ships and scenery featured in this video need to be bought and downloaded from the SIM3D website though, and installed manually.
How much did you pay for this game?
I can't remember. You'd have to check the Steam price.
@@TheTransportDepot Just bought it last week, can even remember myself
❤💪🏻

Meh, to your low-effort comment too.
