The difficulty spike from expert to legendary is fking intense

As dragged out as this mission is I do see the glints of what pve could've looked like.
Winston with his special changes was easily the most fun as he had such unique playstyle and was satisfying.
To add the enemy designs are amazing but it felt like it took to long to break off parts and at that point the enemy was dead (except the four legged missle guys).
Finally you have the specific hero choices that add to the gameplay like how tracer should fetch the batteries since she can one shot the theives with her ult and beat them to it, lucio and torb prevent things from hurting the TS-1 unit, and winton doing monkey things 😅.
The amount of HP to break a body apart is a roughly 40% including armor. I’m mixed on if it should be less or not, since I play by shooting legs off. I think if the legs could be shot off faster, it would be too easy, because crawlers are almost harmless
@tyrantworks9604 ik but like the arms and head (if you didn't know they keep fighting with their heads off). With the health being so high it doesn't feel responsive sometimes and people end up just shooting in general because the effects are hard to notice with also how health bar is shown.

what I love about this is just how much you need to learn through experimentation. For example, when you start out, you probably shoot the head, because it's a crit and it makes the ding sound. Eventually you learn you should aim for the right arm instead, because it take WAY less to take out the arm than the entire robot, but if the right arm gets busted, the bot can't shoot. If it can't shoot, it can't instakill you with it's INSANE ranged damage.
That is just, like, one of the several, several things I learned to beat legendary mode. How to deal with bombers, 1v1 the battery thieves without dying, dodge projectiles, knowing when and who should get the battery while the rest fight to stay alive down a teammate, etc. The rockets are especially punishing, because they home in HARD, and a couple of those WILL one shot you. You need to have really good positioning to make sure that never happens.
It was a real challenge to do this solo, I hope they do more of this stuff in the future.

I think a good way to make Tracer's survivability a little better in this is that if Recall isn't on CD that fatal damage triggers Recall. I'm cool with her being a glass cannon but so many things can one shot her in the mode (I mean they melt Winton) so it'd be a small quality of life type of thing to make her just a bit harder to kill.
well technically, if the enemies melt everything, then tracer is the tankiest hero, because she can evade the most damage with her small hitbox and mobility

Them keeping Tracers health and having Lucio for support with Legendary difficulty achievements... this was criminal.

As a tracer main, the main problem wasnt her health most of the time...i had a much harder time dealing with lucios thinking they are frogger and being knocked down every 2 seconds and didnt boop the robots back, and torbs that think their turret is inmortal and almost never used their ult for the biggest treats..if you play with cover and using your brain, surviving on tracer is the least of her problems
Lucio is actually a really good support in this for booping the bomb guys. Too bad he’s horrible at everything else
@@spacix4118 Nah, unless you're bad playing with or as Lucio he's definitely great at doing dmg + surviving. The fact he also has an attack speed buff while on speed + it doesn't even require much coordination even with randos makes him vital towards a team's success. If you don't have a Lucio player playing him, it's a gg from the start.
@@pandolam4513 that's the thing, people come to the hardest difficulty to try chars they do not main, or playing an off role, bro if you are masters in support and gold in tank, why the fuck are you instalocking Winston? This is beyond me
Managed to do this with randoms once, the battery section is so unfair that if you get slicers and most enemies can delete you in seconds making tanks useless against for example elite jumpjets
were you playing legendary? There are no slicers in legendary mode.
@@aguyontheinternet8436There are, its just based on luck, the same as vultures or stalkers and artillery or chargers are during the battery section, they have ruined quite a bit of runs for me because noone knew how to deal with them
@@aguyontheinternet8436Yes there are. For some reason, the enemy types are random on different attempts. Slicers, breachers, artillery, chargers, and stalkers are all affected by this.
I pulled off an expert run with randoms only, never tried legendary though
@@Absorbant I do not believe Stalkers are affected, I do know Slicers are paired with Artiliary while Breachers are Paired with Chargers in this section
So far underworld is the only legendary I’ve been able to beat, can’t wait to do it 3 more times
the regular one was pretty easy, but the death from above modifier was pretty tough with no Lucio
@@Hietakissaits not bad if you have competent teammates, i tried random teammates and kept getting silver and gold caliber players. In the end me and my friend duo'd DPS/tank respectively and it was fine. Tough but fine.
@@Li_Mn yeah, all of the PvE content is very doable if you have decent teammates. Honestly, I think it took me longer to do Death From Above than Ironclad
@@Hietakissa I thought death from above was going to be impossible tbh tried all the roles and it literally only took one of my friends and a third team mate actually communicating instead of potato Genji and brig players diving to their death.
I can’t get it finished on legendary but I keep trying, I’m excited to see how you do it!

@tenjingtamang812 the jump mechanic as almost every Winton I saw just didn't use it. I'm not talking about flats btw.

I feel like most people just zone out while defending the robot thing for 15 minutes. Can't blame them.

i know this is probably too late, but may still be useful for other map release or next time you play. it's a hard risk because of no heals but lucio can carry the large batteries faster with movement speed boost and it will still let you use your amp, unlike tracer blink or winston jump which can't be used when carrying large batteries.
I just juggle the battery. Throw it in front of you, run ahead of it, grab it by looking back, spin 180°< and throw it again. It basically negates the negative effects

I tried this on legendary with my friends for hours but we kept getting 2 stalkers at once and it wrecked us
Do you get a title or anything for beating regular legendary mode ? Or is there only a title for doing the 3 modifiers ? I spent about 2 weeks trying to finish the regular one in legendary mode and finally did it just now.

I've been having a hard time with this, granted I'm doing randos who either
1) ALL go get certain batteries from the stealers leaving me on charging station by myself
2) the tank is taking so much damage I can't keep them healed up and they don't grab health packs
Everyone knew the pve had potential I don't think a single person when they heard it mentioned in the teaser pre release imagine we lived in a world where we've had constant mission coming out for the last 7 or whatever years It is just crazy that they had the idea used it as marketing remove it when they released it for being unsure it would sell then when the game sells they still didn't do shit and added a hero like once a year for 7 or whatever years too long

I managed to do expert random queing on the like 10th attempt, ain't trying legend without friends 😂😂
I was extremely lucky. Made it passed expert second try.
We died last point and won on the second life.
Bit of a typo there. Also by second try I mean 2 of three attempts.
I did legend with randoms somehow, got very lucky with my teammates as all of them knew what they were doing. Now, i did spend like 20 attempts on this, but still, getting really good randoms is always great
Now to get extremly lucky 3 more times, i almost beat the modifier already but we died on ana and orisa
@@infeinfe Well I managed to get expert done for death from above aslo. We made it on our last attempt. I don't think I will do the Legendary difficulty at this time though.
after taking a day and a half to beat legendary mode, expert mode is a cakewalk in comparison.

Legendary is be above and beyond in terms of extreme challenge. The only 2 pve I won in legendary mode was Junkenstein revenge hero swap and the regur junkenstein endless that gets the Mercy spray. I am pretty proud of those.

The thing that pulls and kills you instant wont pull you if you are standing near it. It will only try to hit you with something.

The one where you get bombarded is terrible becouse when some one leaves, the bot just cant dodge the missiles

Do the enemies change? I don't think i saw many slicers/chickens in their run, or even see one at all. When I attempted it, there was a lot of them which is how I lost cuz they just passively do damage over time that when you are at the last 2 batteries you die cuz of the amount of slicers just chipping away the health of the robot.
It seems to "randomly" decide on whether you get slicers or breachers, stalkers or vultures, and chargers or artillery, for the mission.
The only complaint I have with pve is that when you use AI you dont get stat compensation of any kind. Sometimes AI wont revive you as they're qued for another action, or just does something very useless. Plus their ult usage sucks.
i think for every ai team member, every human team member should get a 5% buff to maxhp and dmg. This way solo players can still h 3:07 ave a chance vs legendary difficulty.

@spacix4118 me and other random people played on hard and got wrecked. I always play on expert on the first one.
yeah, it was pretty tough. It only took me 5 attempts to beat the regular one on legendary, but like 2 hours to beat the modifier. The TS-1 charging part is the hardest (mainly the 3rd wave), the rest is pretty easy. If you have trouble beating it try using the explosions to kill the breachers and genji can pretty easily solo the elite jumpjets with deflect to get batteries
