First album I owned was given to me when I was about 5-6. My dad set up a stereo in me and my brothers room. It had an 8 track player in it . My dad gave us 2 cassettes. 1 was kansas. The other 1 was police. The first album I bought was a black sabbath cassette tape I bought with change at the local pharmacy. I was about 10 and I bought ir with change.

Hi from Spain. Love your stuff!
The first album I bought was Alice In Chains “Dirt” in 1992. It discovered to me a new musical universe, but in 1993 I discovered Paradise Lost “Icon” which threw me into the pits of Doom/Death/Metal.

Prodigy, fat of the land was the first CD I bought at 7 years old. Prior to that, I had a record player in my room and inherited my parents sabbath, AC/DC and Hendrix records. First adolescent purchase that really started “the change” was Nevermind and then the rabbit hole of punk and metal opened up and swallowed me whole.

reminds me of how I was introduced to sabbath by my dad while driving to the gym (I just screwed around with friends while he worked out) cuz it played on the radio he told me about it and according to him I had a look of pure amazement on my face when the riff came in to Iron Man. Once it was over I said "Daddy I like Sabbath"...oh yeah I was 7.

    First cassette - Purple Rain
First musical influence - Doctor Who theme song from the late 70's. I remember being 4 years old and hearing that. I wondered how they made such an incredible sound.
Watching your channel in North Carolina
I really enjoy your videos. It is a great format. The way you approach explaining and demonstrating gear and the philosophy behind it is refreshing. Thank you.
On a side note, I actually did not know this music that I've been listening to for years had a name or genre. I just know I love that sound. It used to be that you had to listen to local college radio or rummage through boxes at the record store or just be lucky enough that a friend knew of a good band. Thanks to channels like Stoned Meadow of Doom, I've been able to discover so many bands that would have been impossible otherwise. And thanks to your channel, I'm able to learn so much more about it. Keep doing what you're doing. It is greatly appreciated.

Hand-me-downs from my sisters...Kiss-Destroyer. Around '78. Im old ..lol. I remember taking a Kiss album in for show and tell in 2nd grade...so were talking '78-'79...and the teacher freaked. Saying it was bad and evil,ect...lol. Loved heavy music from the cradle...it was certainly an advantage having 3 older sisters in the 70s. All kinds of great classic music in the house. Hello from the SF bay area! I'm an 80s kid, so my first tape was Huey Lewis - Sports lol. My first CD was Metallica's black album in '91 when I first saw the video for Enter Sandman on MTV. I remember being 11 and feeling like I'd get in trouble if my parents caught me enjoying the Metallica videos of the day. By 8th grade I was venturing towards death metal because the local high school station had mosh Monday. Carcass- Heartwork changed my musical mind forever. I like having a tremolo in my chain for both clean and distortion (set at mild depth). I think I would add that after your RE-20. Both amplitude and harmonic trem add some movement, especially when it's after reverb and delay. The reverb and delay trails (and dry signal unless wet/dry) are swirled by the harmonic trem :)

Around 5/6 years old and my dad tries to scare me with Sabbath back in the early 80's during a thunderstorm by turning the lights off by playing the song Black Sabbath in stereo with the real storm, glass of Whiskey in his hand. Well needless to say he lost his album to me that night. Funny looking back as I had no idea what their songs were really about, apart from the cool scary stuff you enjoy as a kid. East London

Gonna show my age, ha...So, when i was 7, my mom was ordering albums (actual vinyl back then) from Columbia House. This is when they used to mail huge sheets of stamp-like things of the album covers. You then licked and placed the ones you wanted on the order form...so, i snuck one in and got KISS - Rock n Roll Over...when it came in, mom was like, "what is this?", and i just said, "oh, that's mine"...i guess she was cool with it because I still have it to this day. I didn't really become a huge KISS fan like most, but it's still a cool first album. At any rate, please check out my band HYDRILLA and let me know if you think we have a doom or stoner vibe at all. Some have said yes, but...idk, because we cross polinate several styles and our vocalist is not a traditional doom/stoner type. hydrillaband.com or ua-cam.com/users/hydrillatx or facebook.com/hydrillaband and our music is also available at most digital platforms. Thanks

Great to see more guys doing Doom/stoner stuff on YT! You've inspired me to make some doom content of my own. First album, "Black Fingernails, Red Wine" by Eskimo Joe. They're an Aussie indie rock band, only really knew the title track, but ended up loving the album. Eventually saw them live when i was about 15 and it was a very nostalgic evening. Indiana here. Jason your making me feel old!!! 1980, I was 8. My dad and I went to the record store so I could pick out some cassettes for my new boom box (remember those?) I got Led Zeppelin 4 and Pink Floyd “The Wall”. Nice board! Suggestion, if you add a phaser it has to go in front of the boost! They tend tend to give you a unwanted volume boost. I find putting it in front of everything helps level it out! Favorite pedal is the FU-2!! Pedal is so badass! Would add a Morley wah!

Great video ! regarding the first album I got, it was AC/DC live album from 92, but it was not the double cd version. It was a single cd version, with only half the songs. I still listened to it a lot, and it definitely made me want to play music. I was 11 years old at that time, it was the first time I listened to something that was not coming from my father's collection (which was not bad, he had deep purple, led zeppelin, dire straits, pink floyd, the beatles...). (I'm from France btw)

Hello from Poland. My first album was a Pink Floyd... coverband album. Because those were apparently a thing, trying to disguise themselves as the real deal. Parents were buying me a walkman for my birthday, so they were focused on that and had a slight lapse of judgement when picking a tape to come with it.
They quickly got me the Yellow Submarine soundtrack, which I would call my first _actual_ album, with the former being just a funny trivia to mention. I still have it somewhere at the bottom of a drawer or in some box.

@@FuzzlordEffects Yeah. I don't remember the contents specifically, but I vaguely remember the cover being just a far-away live photo, so it was made to look like some live album or a compilation. The Pink Floyd name was written in big letters, with "Performed by [name of the coverband]" in smaller print below

Sheffield UK, it was 1986 I was 11 and my first album was Number if the Beast. I was really digging the FU-2. As always Jason, great video demo! When I was much younger(cough, cough) and new nothing about pedals and orders, I think I lined them up according to..(wait for it)..color! I had a Peavey 4x10 amp, a Cort LP goldtop, tubescreamer and DOD flanger. I think i started buying Arion pedals(inexpensive)after that . I was chasing the ' Iommi sound' and loved that slow, heavy sound that oozed distortion. I've purchased and sold, traded so many guitars and pedals as my tastes and influences changed..ugh. And just when I thought I'd start playing through just an amp....I found your channel. You mad genius you! Anyway, my first vinyl LP was 'the Beatles', followed by Sabbath's 'We sold our souls..' which I had to keep hidden from the concerned ears of my parents( had to ease them in with Zep IV and Floyd's Darkside) Thanks for what you do! A fan from NC!
