- AFTERTOUCH makes it possible to control the sound after striking a tone, typically with a vibrato type modulation effect. AFTERTOUCH expands the musical expression. To create and control a beautiful vibrato, it is important to understand the function of channels aftertouch in MIDI keyboards.
A really helpful video. Venturing into areas of technology that you don't understand is often daunting and overwhelming but you did a great job in just 5 minutes. Thank you.
THANX!
Best video on aftertouch!
Wow, thanks!
I finally understood what aftertouch is. Thanks so much!
Great to hear!
Thank you for the explanation, it's so useful. Yes, all keyboards (even MIDI controllers) with aftertouch are damn expensive because they need more time for research and difficult to program.
@@BlondieSL yeah soo damn true
ASM hydrasynth is way cheaper than others for sure I even tried the minikeys version it was impressive and cheap the full size keys are better of course.
@@williamshaneblyth Yeah. There are lots of 25 keys MIDI controller (including an AKAI Mini if I'm not wrong) that has aftertouch (pressure-sensitive). It was cheaper. I use aftertouch only for synth solo rather than acoustic instruments. So it's no problem for me.
A very useful tip, and very well explained. Thank you, Thoralf.
THANK YOU!
Thank you for explaining the channel concept. I am reading through the modi file format and explanations like this help me a lot.
Very Impressive and helpful thanks.

Thank you that's very helpful. What's that cylindrical thing with Sennheiser logo connected at the back ?
This is the receiver of the Sennheiser Wireless digital, a very useful and easy to use helper.

Thank you for this explanation. Is it correct to say that this aftertouch feature is more prominent to specific instrument (ie guitar, etc) but less in others such as piano?
Yes.
Just wondering if it's possible in 2022 to play do re mi fa so without being copyright claimed. Sorry - your scale practice infringes on Groovey Kind of Love.
My aim is just to learn to play by hear.
What do I need?
A digital piano? midi controller? Weighted keys? Semi weighted keys? Keyboard? 88 keys?
Hans Zimmer inspires me, I just want to play his music.
Please suggest a model 🙏
Thanks & regards
1. Weighted keys
2. Inspiring sounds
3. If you have good monitors and a quiet computer, you can use virtual instruments
Shame those drums weren't included on the PSR-SX600. Also, I wish aftertouch was included.
I wonder what vst's on FL-Studio supports it.
Thk's!
thank you very much for video.
so non polyphonic aftertouch will affect midi event on all played notes despite i will use it on only one note?
and what about loudness of note as separate feature apart of aftertouch, is it sensitive to power of touch only at first hit or it can change volume when you hold it and then release note slightly and then push again to limit? thanks
Yes, this is possible, but it depends on sound programming. There is no preset sound offering this feature, because it would be very difficult to control. I generally think, it is easier to control using a foot pedal like FC-7: www.thomann.de/gb/yamaha_fc7.htm?offid=1&affid=799
Hallo, Thoralf, wie entpackt man denn die Dateien am Mac?
Du meinst ZIP-Archive? Per Doppelklick. Ist im System implementiert,
What is the point of having aftertouch if you have a modulation wheel?
You don't need your hand and you can play on the keyboard.
Is there any way that allow me to make the sound start playing when i release the key ?
No.
What is the model of that Yamaha keyboard?
Yamaha Genos
