  • This time I am modifying the wiring harness on my project car to remove unnecessary wiring that i wont be using in the stock harness. I am going to clean the wiring harness up for lights and the other necessities. Modifying the wiring harness is simple and should be done to any project car.
    All information contained in this video may or may not be 100% correct, this is the first time I am doing a 740 T5 engine swap. But If I make some mistakes, put a comment down and I'll be sure to pin it and mention it in my upcoming video.
    You still reading this ? Then i might as well tell you that this video was a nightmare to edit, I set the camera wrong (got new lights that I don't understand yet and I had the GoPro set to full auto bazooka mode so the WB was going crazy) took me over 20 Hours to put this together, ha ha. I'm just typing away here waiting for the video to upload so I can run all of the checks on it. BTW, right now, there is a mouse eating away at the bottom of my garage door. Like, why do they do that? How tasty can it be to eat a rubber gasket ? Literally everything made out of soft rubber just gets destroyed... If you know why, drop a comment. Anyway, i'm just going to stop writing now and see what I can do about that mouse.
    Thanks for Watching BTW, love the support

    I will be doing a t5 swap in my volvo 240 soon and these videos and maybe especially the specific ones are incredibly useful!! So please keep making videos about the specific stuff too.

      Thanks! Yeah, these videos hurt the channel a little bit, but I really want to stick these in there because of the lack of that sort of content on UA-cam. There is just too much highlight and not enough of the boring but useful information one wants if you really get stuck and need motivation to keep going. Good luck with your build 👍

    Bra video!

      Men jag tycker bara att det är bra, vi kör ju lite olika varianter av ett 740 T5 bygge så det är inte omöjligt att jag nämner dig famöver när jag går igenom lite olika vägar man kan ta, som med tändningen tex. 👍
      Lycka till med bygget 👍

    Awesome work this is a massive help, I’m doing a t6 swap I’m guessing it’ll be the same approach as this. Also doing the swap on a 1990 740

    • @BackmansGarage
      @BackmansGarage  3 роки тому

      Thanks! 👍 The T6 is a really nice swap as well. If I'm not mistaken it "builds" forward so you might run into issues with radiator clearance, but other than that is basically the same on the hardware side of things 👍Are you doing a 3.0L or the 2.5 ?

    • @mattjamieson3148
      @mattjamieson3148 3 роки тому

      @@BackmansGarage yeah I know what I’m doing swap wise it’s more the wiring that your videos are helping me with as I haven’t a clue I was just going to buy a premade one from Maxxecu. It’s a s80 2.8 t6 engine.

    • @BackmansGarage
      @BackmansGarage  3 роки тому

      @@mattjamieson3148 Those newer engines run the ME7 ECU if I'm not mistaken (the same as my t5 engine did stock). I haven been able to find anyone able to crack the immobilizer on one of those, but maybe you have the complete assembly of the immo or know someone who can ?

    Just love this videos, thanks!
    But why don't you use cloth tape?

    • @BackmansGarage
      @BackmansGarage  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks! I try to use only the standard wiring tape in the engine bay since I like to wash alot. Im sure that all cloth tapes aren't made the same, but the one that i could get a hold of in time for the video isnt waterproof so I went with the standard tape for waterproofing and then the sock for rubbing protection and looks. When i do the inside wiring harness I will only use cloth tape 👍

    Blir fint det där! Det finns krympslang med lim om man ska använda kabelstrumpor. Då slipper man att strumpan glider ur sen.

    • @BackmansGarage
      @BackmansGarage  3 роки тому

      Glömde jag nämna, men det är faktiskt en sån lim-variant. Visserligen ifrån feltema så dom blev förbannat hårda efter uppvärmningen. Men jag hoppas dom kommer sitta kvar 👍

    Din video dök upp i flödet, jag har precis börjat rensa kabelstammar från geggig eltejp och annat hahaha. Mycket bra video, önskar att jag kunde göra lika bra videos men är ingen film producent precis. Funderar om jag skulle bara göra kortvideos istället. Bilder finns på mitt IG, ingen video på tuben ännu om kabelstammarna.

    i've replaced all the gauges in my miata build but now need a check engine light, any suggestion of where to learn about running a new one?

    • @BackmansGarage
      @BackmansGarage  3 роки тому

      Usually you can find a pinout on the engine ECU for the check engine light. So try to find a good schematic for the ECU and take it from there. The Miata is popular so there should be a lot of info online. Or have you put a Volvo engine into a Miata ? 😀
