Still have 2 XB20 and tied XB21 and XB22 but didn't like the sound and also, MicroUSB was my bigget complaint ... I had in the same time a XB41 and I loved it in the past but got a newer one a few weeks ago and god it sounded bad, I don't know why, it seems that Sonys has messed up the supply chain. I did love the fact that they were pairing-possible though, and apparrently now this feature is gone except if you buy the new models. Too bad but are you sure that isn't compatible ? Because if I recall correctly, at first it wasn't compatible either with XB20 and 21-22 for example, same for XB30 and XB31 ... We needed to push some buttons to put it in "advanced" pairing mode and then it worked :D I'm eager to test the XB23, definitively dig the look and the colors. I hope it's really an upgrade since XB20 :)
Just bought one today after comparing with the JBL charge 4, I picked sound quality, lights, Bluetooth 5.0 over the 3.5 mm jack and loud volume of the JBL. Connected my phone to both speaker at the store and tried various songs and JBL is all noise when it counts, also distorted some vocals at highest volume. The Sony baby gives a much better sound across generes !
I just bought one of these because they didn't have any more JB l's but I compared the JBL to the speaker and you're and the JBL is way louder Making the Sony sound like a whisper. I'm not sure why it's like that
The hardware is capable of playing audio via the type-C, but it's disabled in software on consumer units. In-store demo units have it enabled, so as soon as someone dumps the demo firmware, you can have AUX via USB-C.
@@collinaustin4164 There is a way to connect to the bootloader via USB-C, and it's wide open, allowing read & write access without any signing or authentication. However, all I currently have is consumer firmwares, which all have USB-C audio disabled.

How do you think the xb31’s sound compares to the xb33? I have the 31 & 32, and the 31 clearly sounds better. Punchier bass and a more full sound. I want the 33 but not sure how worth it it’d be
@@xPad1x The XB33 sounds way better. Fuller sound and not that flat compared to the XB31, the XB31 sounded more like the JBL Charge 4 to me. I think the XB33 could get louder, is not THAT loud, if you plan on using this outside a lot I'd look for something louder maybe. For inside the house it sounds great and sound quality combined with SONY equalizer app makes it great sounding.

Thanks again. I just picked mine up from my local Walmart. They actually had it even though it's not listed as being available in-store. And yes, the sound is superior in mid to high volume.

The problem with the Flip series is that the 5 isn't really an upgrade (Except for the USB C) due to the mono speaker, same goes for the Charge 4 ... The Flip 3 or 4 are better and Charge 3 sound better than Charge 4.
Just got this. Not using Fiestable (don't know if that's relevant). It's loud enough. Can be very bass intensive without any rattling or anything. But so far, just playing standard high quality MP3s, it's not very crisp. The bass is over emphasised but even when I turn the bass down and the mids and highs up it produced a fairly 'muddy' sound I don't know if it is a hardware problem or not. 3.5 yrs in and no jokes, this is still the go to portable speaker I will tolerate on Bluetooth. Why ? 1. LDAC 2. LIVE actually doesn't dim details 3. X-Balanced drivers here actually make a difference The driver shape looks as weird as it gets but the frequency response is more than a justification and to their credit it's still very functional all around.. I can't find any such system which has these many buttons and still all make sense.
Sony needs to put an FM radio receiver into these portable Bluetooth speakers, with a small sleek display screen that shows the battery life, volume, and radio stations, etc. Now that would be cool, another thing that’s kinda far fetched but doable in this technology age we live in is put an XM radio receiver in it. Sucks you gotta pay for it, but these things are totally possible. Sh!t they could even put a small touchscreen screen with free music apps like pandora, Spotify, Iheart, and tunein radio, which obviously would require WiFi, then it truly would be a smart speaker and have it all built into a quality speaker... wishful thinking I know haha it’s all possible though, but the FM radio receiver and display screen for the standard functions could easily be done and make these speakers even greater than they already are...
I came to watch this review after I ordered the product. I was afraid that you would recommend this product down. But I am glad you didn't and overall gave positive reviews about it. Actually, I have always been a big fan of Sony sound quality. JBL is good but SONY rules \m/
And guess what: the sony XB 34, comming in 2021, can not be paired with the xb 33 ^^. Also the XB 34 will be much better, with WAY more bass and stuff. Just wait a year, and thank me then. But if you want the real deal, wait for 2022, when sony releases the XB 35, with XTRA POWER ULTRA Bass! It will wipe the floor with the XB43! Believe me ^^
Yeah wait for 2087 for a crazy new speaker with dolby 9.1 🤦♂. Honestly if you have to wait every year to buy something better, with how technology is improving, you'll never buy anything.

I bought the xb33 from walmart yesterday and returned it today.. IMO the xb32 sounded better..clearer and bass was stronger..i thought the xb33 sounded muddier and even after adjusting the equalizer it still sounded muddier...i tested it with oldies, pop, rap, and talk radio..i was dissapointed with the 33...im going to keep my xb32 and focus my attention to the xb43...it looks to be awsome...i will say with the side firing bass radiators the bass is different..the xb32 the bass seems stronger and more in your face..the xb32 IMO is the finest xbass speaker sony produced..i really wanted to like the xb33 but i was not impressed with the sound..as soon as i fired up the xb33 the first thing i thought was this sound muddy compared to my xb32 playing the same songs i listen to alot on my xb32..just my opinion yours may differ..
Not completely a fair battle considering a speaker takes a fair few hours for break in before you really get the sound and the drivers working well. So if you were patient you'd see a difference. It's going to be better than the 32, you just need to allow for break in. I have an XB 40 and it sounds better now than it did when I first got it. Took a couple days to really let the drivers get a little loose and working well.
@@MyBryant123 yep, it's not a fair comparison. If you both speakers new out of box different story. The 33 is better, the only difference is where the bass is coming from. With the new Sony speakers having JBL inspired side passive radiators. It's not a forward sounding, but the sound is more evenly dispersed into a room and definitely helps with outdoor listening.
Just wanted to apologize for commenting twice. For some reason, I didn't think my first comment submitted itself. I'm so glad all these cool speaker and headset reviews are on youtube for us all to enjoy.
Thanks for a very thorough review. I feel that if I do decide to buy one of these speakers, I'll know how to use it wright away. I use sony srs xb40 last 2years. The problem is that in 50% battery some times my speaker says please charge and volume automatically goes down to 16%. Is sony solve the problem in xb33,xb43??
Nice video that was pretty informal. I bought a game day Bluetooth speaker that is basically shaped like a box and the battery is super shot. I actually took it out and I have to charge it all the time. I’m thinking about buying that speaker and I know you said the battery lasts a long time, but will it be junk four months from now?
judging by my other sony products, they tend to hold up for quite a long time. i’ve had my sony headphones 3 years now and i can leave them 3 weeks in between charges with everyday use
I got the XB501G for Xmas and it'd locked in some restart boot loop new out box! Power light flashes 5 times then the Google assist lights up green the live light light gets a wee flicker n restarts whole process again! Software issues for sure! No reset button they put it in power button but no good as all button frozen out and won't charge more than 10%! Such a disaster unit but had them before xtra bass speakers without issues so waiting for return info I've tried all I can from here but if you recognise the issue and know a tip please I'd love to know how to get it fired up! Great video I'm going to pick on up tomorrow while getting this Google assist one sorted out or get replacement!
Christina De Michele Slightly better bass and sounds slightly less muddy at 100% volume. Slightly better sound quality overall at 100% volume. Much better design in my opinion. USB type c and Bluetooth 5.0 push it over the edge as a must buy over last years xb32. There’s a lot of “slightly better” when it comes to bass and sound quality, but everything else are jumps in advancements over the Xb32. I hope this helps.
@@vr1939 i would still advice to go for a jbl xtreme 2 or dockin difne +2 in this 150-200 euro category and this size. if you got 250 euro and live in germany or you have access to teufel -> GET A TEUFEL ROCSKTER CROSS. teufel rockster cross blows away the dockin dfine, jbl xtreme 2 and for sure the xb43 also.
Excellent review ! Can you please tell me one thing. How is the speaker for Netflix shows and movies ? How is the movie experience ? I will consume movies more than music, so please let me know. AND, is it still good to buy it in 2021 ? OR there are better speakers available in the same price bracket. Please reply.
FYI I own this speaker, if u need music on the go it’s great. If u want bass it hardly has any. But NO other speaker this size has bass either. But it sounds good after u use the EQ on ur phone.
For me the determining factor is the USB C. I'm having to replace my JBL Flip because of the weak mini USB port that break. So I cannot charge it any more. It just seems to be a weaker connector to me. The USB C looks much stronger and reliable. Am I wrong?
Why not possible to connect with previous XBs? So, end up partychain family connection and start again collecting "partyconnect" speakers. Wish they kept continuity of partchaining connectivity, to enjoy all XB models all at once in one song or movie listening.
At 70% you're lucky if you get half of that I must tell you Sony has very bad battery life right now compared to others but I have the 43 and I like it alot
Thanks for this review. I was looking at this online and only concern that I had was button location. The brand that ends in **L had better button placement for my application, in the back window of my bobcat skid steer.
Great review, I have always been a JBL for my portable, my daughter snagged mine and as a truck driver I like having one for my shower stops or when I’m sitting outside my truck cooking or relaxing. I also like the fact I can use as a speaker phone while driving instead of having an annoying headset on. Just ordered mine waiting on Best Buy to fill order as we speak. Thanks for the time and effort!

Orlando Torrez If you really want quality sound you gotta consider hk studio 6, if you get over the form factor, not cool at all😆😆😆
bought in India at $150 on sale, (it usually sells here at $177.)
3.5 yrs in and no jokes, this is still the go to portable speaker I will tolerate on Bluetooth. Why ?
1. LDAC
2. LIVE actually doesn't dim details
3. X-Balanced drivers here actually make a difference
The driver shape looks as weird as it gets but the frequency response is more than a justification and to their credit it's still very functional all around..
I can't find any such system which has these many buttons and still all make sense.
All great points
That thing looks like a tank!
I came to watch this review after I ordered the product. I was afraid that you would recommend this product down. But I am glad you didn't and overall gave positive reviews about it.
Actually, I have always been a big fan of Sony sound quality.
JBL is good but SONY rules \m/
This is currently my favorite portable speaker. I’m still waiting to see what JBL does this year if anything.
You made a solid choice.
I will buy the 43, because I have the srs xb 40 and I want to upgrade it!
I hav the 41... This still seems better... Im planning to get it too
Yea, me too! I have 2 XB40 in stereo and i want to upgrade it to 2 XB43 stereo :)
@@EditsbyAdnan no no, it's not worth it, it can't even pair up to an xb41, if you want a REAL upgrade, maybe look into braven speakers?
My XB 30 is still going strong after three years. I'm interested in this new XB33. But I would wait for a discount in a couple of months
@@malakuloushs no
Great review. Bought it to travel with. Have the XB43…too big to travel. This actually sounds really good.
Great review. Just bought one to strap on to my jetski, had a limited idea on how to use some of the features but now I know, cheers.
How'd you affix it?
And guess what: the sony XB 34, comming in 2021, can not be paired with the xb 33 ^^. Also the XB 34 will be much better, with WAY more bass and stuff. Just wait a year, and thank me then. But if you want the real deal, wait for 2022, when sony releases the XB 35, with XTRA POWER ULTRA Bass! It will wipe the floor with the XB43! Believe me ^^
Haha. You’re exactly right.
But let’s hope they keep Party Connect around for a while so they can sync together!
Yeah wait for 2087 for a crazy new speaker with dolby 9.1 🤦♂. Honestly if you have to wait every year to buy something better, with how technology is improving, you'll never buy anything.
@@mcfirstpouletoignon3315 lol
Just copped! Dope review! Thanks for showing us the buttons!
It lost the AUX in and it can't pair with the last model. :(
THANK YOU! i have this speaker and this is cool stuff that i didn't know!!
Just bought mine today xb33 🔥🔥🔥🔥♥️♥️♥️💯💯💯
What song is this u played for the sound demo? I’m buying this speaker to put on my jetski lol
I've been looking through reviews for hours, but you gave me all the info I needed! I've used your reviews to buy other items in the past, and you never fail me! :D
Thanks!
I've already purchased this today but I wanted to look up a video about it cuz I don't feel like reading that small print in the damn book LOL thanks for the video man I like when people actually get detailed and stuff I'm like that too so many people make videos and they're just terrible it's a good job keep making them!
My Brother gave me this for Christmas it's a very good speaker.
I just bought a blue XB33 in sale from BestBuy(150$ CA) after checking multiple reviews of this speaker and worth every peny.Just play some good sound test playlists and u will be amazed. Even with volume at max still sounds good without any distorsion, at list for my ears.
Hell yeah!
150 is not the sale price 150 is retail on the three three I just bought the four three for 150 unless you meant the43
@@michaelhopkins5531 before sale the tag price was 267$ Canadian dolars for a XB33 which I found way too much in my opinion...if your price is in US dollars then it's another story.Anyway we pay more for almost anything in Canada
@@cristianracautanu4782 oh okay yeah that's a lot of money for the three three nevertheless it's a nice speaker enjoy it yeah I was talking US money
I got dozens of Sony and JBL speakers and i can hear the old sony SRS-XB30 still better in audio and build quality.
My friend has xb 30 and sounds amazing... I have only xb22😭
TBH, i thought party booster was a gimmick until i saw my friend syncing so well with music. My model XB31.
Raally,??
@@MyBryant123 yep, it's not a fair comparison. If you both speakers new out of box different story. The 33 is better, the only difference is where the bass is coming from. With the new Sony speakers having JBL inspired side passive radiators. It's not a forward sounding, but the sound is more evenly dispersed into a room and definitely helps with outdoor listening.
Bro you have to break it in I had a sony xb22 it sounded muddy but after a week it sounded wayy better
GamesWizard i agree with you too
I will definitely be picking a pair of these up. They look fantastic.
I'd turn off the lights as I'm blind , but I do always enjoy getting to check out different EQ settings in apps. I've got an anker motion plus which is also a great speaker. The 33 did have a great sound. Keep those reviews coming.
You're blind and watching youtube
@@Jonpo you know blind folks can listen right?
4:35 what's it do?
I don't understand why Sony doesn't publish the potency (W) of its speakers!
I just need one more person to review it. Waiting on his take. But with yours I'm at 75%.
Curious. Who’s the other person?
Flossy Carter.
Between him and gamesky I use for audio

I use sony srs xb40 last 2years. The problem is that in 50% battery some times my speaker says please charge and volume automatically goes down to 16%. Is sony solve the problem in xb33,xb43??
Same question
I have been waiting for a review of these speakers ever since they were released. Now to find how to get them shipped to South Africa.
Amazon won’t ship to South Africa?
@@ChrispyThings nope they aren't shipping this product to South Africa.
@@georgemujuru1232 I'm south African too.....
But luckily I live in Japan so I can easily get these. They don't sell them in South Africa?
How do you think this compares to the xb 32 bass wise and also how does it compare to jbl charge 4 ? Great review!!
Chrispy Things ok thank you! Is it louder to?
@@vr1939 i would still advice to go for a jbl xtreme 2 or dockin difne +2 in this 150-200 euro category and this size. if you got 250 euro and live in germany or you have access to teufel -> GET A TEUFEL ROCSKTER CROSS. teufel rockster cross blows away the dockin dfine, jbl xtreme 2 and for sure the xb43 also.
Maurice I would but I just don’t have the budget for it but I got the xb 33 for 129$ at Walmart. And love it. Thanks for the advice though.
I would call the shape of those speakers, “tri-oval,” like they call the Daytona and Talledega motor speedways! 👍🏼
Tri-oval. Yes that makes sense. Thanks!
@@ChrispyThings They look 'egg shaped' to me 🥚
Excellent review !
Can this be used on bluetooth 4.2 TV? Thanks
Does this one has better sound than Marshall emberton?
Got a few of these from my job..... Love these speakers!!
For me the determining factor is the USB C.
I'm having to replace my JBL Flip because of the weak mini USB port that break. So I cannot charge it any more. It just seems to be a weaker connector to me. The USB C looks much stronger and reliable.
Am I wrong?
is drownded a word?
I don’t know. Is it? And do we start sentences with lower case letters?
What kind of music are you playing my friend 🤔..
Wow I'm thinking this speakers says it all loud as well great sound I have always bought sony never was disappointed
Same here
how about the loudness? sony xb33 or jbl charge 4?
Thanks for the review fam. Is there away instead of using the "bluetooth" function can i just use a connector to connect it to my computer ?
What about connecting a device to it using a cable? Will it play music that way too?
The sound is better than xb31 ?
Please make a comparison video on Xb33 vs XB41.
Is this stereo sound or mono sound speaker?
Why not possible to connect with previous XBs? So, end up partychain family connection and start again collecting "partyconnect" speakers. Wish they kept continuity of partchaining connectivity, to enjoy all XB models all at once in one song or movie listening.
Can the XB33 be standing on its side kinda vertically?
Technically yes but it’s not really meant to.
Sir ,according to you which is more better ,Sony srs xb 32 or xb 33 in terms of sound quality
I think I’m sold on this one, it was between this and the UE mega boom 3. I want more BASS and USB C just brings it first to the finish line for me
Is there a magnet on the back?
How is the batter life and does it give atleast 6 hour back up on 70% volume?
At 70% you're lucky if you get half of that I must tell you Sony has very bad battery life right now compared to others but I have the 43 and I like it alot
But after about 2 hours of playtime Sony speaker drops the volume so you can save battery so won't be that loud anymore that's a bummer
I'm getting this speaker next week! This video helped alot.
What's better sound quality jbl charge 5 or sony xb 33 what's got better bass and louder
I was so so close to buying this speaker, but the lack of a 3.5 mm jack is an absolute deal breaker. Bye
For the xb33 you have to activate LDAC on your phone and adjust the EQ for the best sounding option
How u activate the ldac on the iPhone
@@ezekieldemery1635 You can't Activate LDAC on Apple Devices. Only SBC and AAC. But you should go for AAC :)
Thanks for this review. I was looking at this online and only concern that I had was button location.
The brand that ends in **L had better button placement for my application, in the back window of my bobcat skid steer.
Does anyone know how to make the passive radiators move in that wavy motion cause mines just vibrate
XBs 33 is great. I’m looking into the future. XBs 34. Could it have tweeters or a audio jack or both?
What do you think?
I hope so
Don't matter it sound quality, never be as good as you want cuz Sony XB still Sony XB, if you love it just buy it.
Srs xb33 or charge 4 ? Can't decide :(
Yes!
You have to watch about 10 more reviews it's crazy everybody says something different you have to listen to them both for yourself
How many watts this ???
Another speaker company whose name starts from J and ends with L.Hmmm...I wonder which company could that be? 🤔
😂😂😂
@15:30
well i certainly wouldn't want to sit there "beating it" like some idiot
LOL
Exactly
Great review, I have always been a JBL for my portable, my daughter snagged mine and as a truck driver I like having one for my shower stops or when I’m sitting outside my truck cooking or relaxing. I also like the fact I can use as a speaker phone while driving instead of having an annoying headset on. Just ordered mine waiting on Best Buy to fill order as we speak. Thanks for the time and effort!
