The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

I truly feel that she had one of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard. So warm and full with character and charm, both vocally and physically.
She is just so gorgeous. A face for television. A voice for the ages.

I watched Ed Sullivan every Sunday night,,,I hope I was watching this as a 10 year old and it got imprinted on my brain. Alas, I was probably sitting through this waiting for Topo Gigot, Stiller and Meara or the Plate-Spinning guy, But I fortunately discovered her -- after her death but have a playlist dedicated to his woman. She had it all. Thanks
I have loved her since the first time I heard her on a recording. Her timbre was so unique and personal!

Such a gorgeous and unique timbre she had... and very natural placement. She was under-appreciated in her day.
What is "placement"? There is nothing "natural" in singing. You are literally repurposing your organs while singing
@ No. Our "organs" were designed to make a wide variety of sounds, on various pitches, in order to speak. We take in breath, and expel it over through our vocal cords to do that. Singing is just an deliberate exaggeration of that process. Some singers never required a vocal coach to show them how to create musical sounds with their throats. They knew instinctively where their singing voice was. I call that "natural placement". Other young singers may need years of instruction, and work for years try to "find" their voices.

When I heard her in a live concert, I noticed her voice had more soprano ping than on records where she sounds more mezzoy.....a beautiful wonderful artist with beautiful timbre, huge range and beautiful looking to match!

Solo lirico di agilità!???...squillo...squillo...acuti...sovracuti..belle ombreggiature senza per forza scendere di petto..musicalità.. timbro bellissimo squillante ma anche pastoso...la sua forma migliore è durata solo una decina d'anni?...non so forse di più...comunque da rivalutare assolutamente....alla pari delle più grandi...di allora è di adesso..
Poi ..è chiaro...ognuno ha i propri gusti...per me magnificaaaaaaa!!!!!
