I did it 3 times and I can't understand, why people wouldn't like to do it at least once in lifetime. Sure, I know how it was as I heard about the camino the first time, some 20 years ago. I was young and already had smashed my health condition with alcohol and drug. I was at a party, at that time I already stopped using alcohol or other drugs, but my healt condition was awfull. Somebody at this party talked about the camino and I thought, what an interesting experience, but me walking? Walking 800Km? Never ever!
3 years later after the camino was planted into my heart, it has grown and I knew I would like to do it sometimes in my live. But I also knew, if I won't grab the next option to do so, the next holidays, I won't do it ever in my life. So I did it the first time in my life in 2007. It was a fight during the first day, after that it was heavy pain for days, but after 10-14 days it was heaven on earth!

I think it’s amazing that even though your health wasn’t great at the time of the party, hearing about the Camino inspired you to go out and do it. Pushing through the pain of those first days can be tough, so well done for not quitting. I think everyone should walk a camino at least once. Buen Camino, my friend

I’ve completed the Norte, 2 years ago and recently the Portuguese in May. I’ve got my ticket for the Ingles set for September. I did walk with people, generally for one one day. The Norte was of course long compared to the Portuguese but I didn’t really experience a family maybe it would be different on the CF because there are so many people. Since I already have tickets for my third, yes I’m missing the Camino.

How did you find the Portuguese, did you walk the central or coastal? I start the ingles tomorrow. It’s quite easy/natural to become part of a Camimo family on the frances, if that’s what you want. Were there many people on the Norte?
There’s something special about walking a Camimo route, the only downside is that other trails just don’t cut it after you’ve experienced a Camino. I hope you have an amazing time on the ingles. Buen Camino

@Caminohacks Spain had just opened up when we did the Norte. There weren't a lot of people. We did have several people we'd see for a few days/stops, but the contacts never lasted.
The Portuguese was pretty relaxed and short compared to the Norte. I did enjoy it but I determined I walked too fast and I needed to slow down and enjoy the walk more. (Coastal route) Maybe I'll be able to do that on the Ingles in September.

I hear you in the walking fast, it can feel good to power along, but it can often mean yoi leave people behind in your wake. I’m going to see what the ingles offers, if it’s a quiet one then so be it. Looking forward to the walking ☺️

very good video, I brought the simplicity of the Camino tranquillity home with me, I have stopped looking at most social media accounts and all news outlets. Oh and yeah, started planning my next Camino, the Via De la Plata , going bigger next time.

The beauty of the ingles is you can fit it all into a week and have time to see the sites in Santiago…or catch the bus to Finisterre for a day/night by the ocean. Have a good one

I just had to watch this fine video to confirm my thoughts exactly 😄 pity the Camino Blues lasts until...your next Camino?
I totally agree, I think one large part of why the Camino has the effect it has on people is the simple fact of permanent movement, and being outside. It's like feeding our body in a way it rarely gets fed.

    • @Caminohacks

Thank you, buddy. I 'm starting to realise that part of the Camino Blues is the need to watch Camino UA-cam videos all the time. I need my fix! ha ha
The simplification of life, your days moving in nature, being around beautiful souls and creating community. It's like you step out of your normal life and get to live a new life on Camino, and saying goodbye to that new life, well as we both know, it's (insert swear word) tough!

I found people were up to a point, but they didn’t fully understand what a special experience it was. Speaking with other pilgrims is what helped me, going on forums and chatting with others and helping people new the camino helped keep it alive…plus I managed to go back.

That’s a lovely route, will you walk the central or the coastal? You will most likely connect with others walking, so after you finish you might stay in contact with the lovely people you’ve met on your way to Santiago. The Camino is a great place for making good friends fast. I would try not to worry too much about the Camino blues just yet, plus if you do experience it it means you’ll have had an amazing trip.
Yes, I walked the coastal and spiritual way last year. I’m hoping to start editing it in the coming weeks.

I’m sure you’ll be fine. It’s your first Camino and you’re walking a lovely route. I enjoyed this albergue on my first day on the littoral route along the coast - Albergue de S. Mamede in Vila Cha.
I loved the spiritual way, the last section by boat was such a great experience. I’m excited for you! 😂
Thank you for subscribing and for watching my videos. My newsletter has an albergue recommendation in each month too - link is on my UA-cam home page.

This is a religious CATHOLIC road in honor of Santiago (Saint James) and should be respected as such. This is NOT a road for you to come to "find yourself" or "enjoy the views" or other self centered enterprises . This is Very Sacred and should be respected as such.

Marino it’s a path for everyone, it means many things to all people. Why can’t people use the journey along the Camino De Santiago to help and heal themselves? I suggest you take some time to look inward and reflect on your views.

I do respect the people who walk the Camino as a Catholic pilgrimage, but when I am on mine in August, I will ask for respect for the reasons that I will walk it. (The known ones and the ones I have yet to discover...)
