John asked to come in. He knew it was time. Just a few days after he filmed the scene he passed away. I loved him as Edward. Watching this clip made me cry. You will be missed John.

The part where Tracy tells Patrick that they are "Playing by Quartermaine rules now" gave me chills. When you pause to think of the Quartermaine history on GH & all that statement implies, that fact that this time, playing by Quatermaine rules meant saving a little girl's life was tremendous.

This truly is one of the most beautiful ways to send off such a longstanding and beloved character. I had gotten into GH a good bit after both Edwards had passed away, but I especially loved seeing what John Ingle brought to him thru flashbacks and clips like this (as well as appreciating what David Lewis did for the character in laying the groundwork). I think the thing that is most heart wrenching about this moment is not only the fact that John Ingle passed away not that long after he filmed it, but the nature of Edward’s last act itself. Edward was always known for being cantankerous, miserly, and a pain in the neck; yet he was also capable of so much love and compassion to those who had earned it. The fact that his last act was that of selflessness and compassion showed that the Quartermaine patriarch had come a long way, and I’m so happy that the show sent him and his final portrayer out in such a graceful manner. 🥹

I ALWAYS ENJOYED HOW THE " TOUGH GUYS" of GH WERE ALWAYS SO GRACIOUS TO LILA, IN PARTICULAR, LUKE WOULD FLIRT OUTRAGROUSLY WITH HER!!, SONNY AND JAX.

IMO there were only 2 Edwards. David Lewis & JI. There were 2 others & I don't remember Les Tremaune & Jeb Allan was a joke of an Edward & the fact they had him as Edward when Lila (Anna Lee) died was sad. It was not the same. He should have played Edward for Lila's death.

Edward Quartermaine's final act on General Hospital (with John Ingle portraying him) was an act of heroism. He saved Emma, the daughter of Robin, whom he loved so dearly.
Even though they do write this stuff, given the writers of GH had no way of knowing John Ingle would pass away a week later, you really can't.

How does one become Edward Quartermaine after David Lewis so brilliantly portrayed him? John Ingle did that and more. I knew Mr. Ingle was ill but still was very shocked to hear the news of his passing. John Ingle loved being on GH and both the actors of GH and the fans loved him right back. You can tell by all the GH actors, past & present paying tribute on Twitter. I rewatched the scene above in both remembrance and gratitude. What a great way to both remember Edward and Mr. Ingle.

When Robin gets back, she should be told that. Robin will be so upset that he's gone and didn't get a chance to say goodbye to him.

John Ingle was the most convincing Edward but David Lewis defined the character during GH's heyday in the 1980s. Lewis played Edward as way slimier. Ingle's Edward was more like the dignified, old-fashioned CEO, whereas Edward was practically a robber baron.

When I saw this, it seemed like he was dying for real. No only is his speech slow and he's in a wheelchair but he also appears to have lost weight too. I bet they all figured that this might be his last time on GH, with him waving goodbye. At least in his final scene, he also played a hero, giving Emma the antidote. I bet he did it for Robin so that a part of Robin would live on. If only Robin could've been there to thank him. When and IF she gets home, she'll be so sad to know he's gone.

Edward Q he knew what was up! He wanted to save a life, even if it means sacrificing his own and what better way to do that to save the life of a child!

John Ingle must have been very sick at the time of this taping. The writers must have know this would be his last scene. it was incredibly written, Jane Elliott did a fantastic job, and what an excellent way to send off Edward-being an unselfish hero. RIP John Ingle-you will be missed.

Years ago,Tracy was ready to watch her father die in front of her eyes to get what she wanted. She may be putting on an act about having concern for him. If I were Edward I wouldn't drink anything Tracy gave me.

pedro gates It was growth. And I was ok with it when it was for the right reasons. I wanted her to remain ruthless against those out to hurt the family. But these hack writers couldn’t write our Tracy or any Quartermaine in true fashion. Qs are ruthless but with heart. Even Monica got nails and nerves of steel when need be. She also knows when to be tough and when to be cool, but the writers can’t write her correctly either. They’ve defanged all of
the Qs. And I believe that was the main reason why Jane decided to “retire”.

So now Soap Fans are dealing with the departures of Les Tremayne, David Q. Lewis, Jed Allan, and John Ingle (all of whom played "Quartermaine Family Patriarch Edward") , Miss Anna Lee ("Miss Lila Quartermaine"), Stuart Damon (a talented Singer incidentally who played "Alan Quartermaine"), Miss Sonya Eddy (who played the wondrously intimidating and thoroughly generous "Nurse Epiphany" who refused categorically to put up with even "Sonny Corinthos's" guff😂😉👩‍⚕️) and Miss Bergen Williams (who played "Alice" the bighearted Family Maid). Tyler Christopher (who played "Nikolas Quartermaine") only just a short while ago. Rest In Power, One and All!😭📺B.W.
