the movie The Blindside is about NFL player Michael Oher who was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens. but there are countless stories of players who grew up poor and got help from other families, be it teammates or coaches etc.
@@DNReacts "The Blindside" movie is taken from the book of the same name by Michael Lewis who had written many other books, including "Moneyball." The Blindside also refers to the QB's back side. So a right handed QB's left tackle protects his blind side. The Left Tackle became the highest paid position in the NFL for a long time after Lawrence Taylor. A little context for why it is considered so important.

Although Napa Valley does have a lot of wealth it is important to know that there are many low income people that are farm workers and hospitality workers living there as well. Not everyone who works in the wine industry is rich
Agreed. Adding one or two minutes to the video of him just leveling people would have really made the vid that much better, and better highlight how much of a beast he was
The video says he played offensive guard but he actually played both guard and tackle. In fact, he played 4 of the 5 positions on the offensive line (left guard, right guard, left tackle, right tackle). He was a natural guard but due to his physicality was able to play any of the positions at a very high level. He played offensive tackle his rookie season due to injuries to the Cowboys offensive line, most notably moving to right tackle after Erik Williams got in a car wreck. At the time Erik Williams was considered the best offensive lineman in the league.

tackles are on the outside of the O-line, the center who snaps is in the middle, and the left and right guard are next to the center. the big left tackle is known as the "blind side" because he keeps a right handed qb from getting blasted in his back, the right tackle has to be extremely stout- because strong side runs go his way, left guard is mostly there for pass protection- but also has to open lanes, and right guard has to do everything and be a lead blocker for the run too. the entire O-line has to be able to notice the defense before the play, then pull/push/get double teamed/stop a blitz/open lanes, lead etc. they have to anticipate whats coming and be very quick off the ball w great hand/footwork- and most importantly have ice cold balance and be able to move to the next block after they crush their initial objective- they are always looking for a next victim while staying in the confines of the rules. they may look tubby, but their core strength is steel and their backs are titanium. a o-lineman gets beat. a lot. they must be able to move on and do better every snap and not show any weakness, because they can't be targeted as the weak link in the castle wall.

Hello guys! In American football keep in mind that the interior lineman positions names are the same on both sides of the ball. The difference is that a defensive end will lineup down or standing up, but plays defense only. The offensive end blocks, catches passes and he occasionally runs around to get the ball and runs over everyone. Obviously the offensive ends are a bit more athletic with better hands usually, with the exception of Larry Allen.

7:13 Napa Valley is in northern California, just north of the Bay Area (San Fransisco/Oakland area.) It's the most famous wine producing region of the United States. It's far more affluent than Allen's hometown of Compton.
Napa is a town in Northern California, just NorthEast of the Golden Gate Bridge. It's known for its many vineyards and wines. The city of Napa is in the County of Sonoma. Sonoma State is my alma mater and is aka Cal State Sonoma.
The 325lb number is as laughable as Nate Newton's "listed" weight. There are people in the know who swear that Larry weighed typically in the 400lb range, which is completely believable when you see him next to other players and the fact that for some reason, a lot of these big guys weights were "under" reported by their teams. The Cowboys being notorious for it.
Napa Valley is in the north of California - north of San Francisco Bay. It's a beautiful rural region known for its winemaking, and somewhat of a playground of the rich and famous. Of course there's plenty of hard working ordinary farmers, but a lot of the land- and winery-owners are famous (Mario Andretti, Francis Ford Coppola, John Elway, Joe Montana, Yao Ming, Arnold Palmer, Tom Seaver, etc.). Compton is part of Los Angeles, down in southern California (350 - 400 miles away from Napa) and known for being a largely black and working-class/poor neighborhood in those days.
Think of a guard as ‘guarding’ the quarterback. The defensive side of the line generally consists of Defensive Tackles, who play inside, and Defensive Ends, who play on the outside.
Compton California is known as a very rough working-class city with high crime. It's known as a birthplace for many rappers like Dr. Dre and Kendrick Lamar. In contrast, Napa Valley is in Wine Country. They're known for their vineyards and high income. They're basically two different worlds.
Great players but not equally impressive. Erik Williams would have been close if not for his car wreck which occurred at the point when he was considered the best offensive lineman in the league.
As a lifelong Cowboys fan, Larry Allen is my all time favorite NFL big man. Other notable Dallas Cowboys that have fun fascinating stories are Randy "The Manster" White and Ed "Too Tall" Jones. There are a ton but those are probably the most entertaining.
There are offensive and defensive guards. I'm not sure which one was named first but I'm pretty sure one was named after the other that it was lined up against. Same thing with offensive tackle and defensive tackle (although, I'd imagine the defensive one was named first in that case)
There's no way Emmitt Smith would have gotten all those yards without Larry knocking 300 pound athletes to the ground like rag dolls. Not really going out on a limb here but he's the best guard to ever play the game.
Compton is a suburb of Los Angeles with what many would call a ghetto. Napa Valley is north of San Fransisco Bay in the middle of California’s wine country. Without great offensive linemen blocking, quarterbacks would always be sacked and running backs would never have holes to run through. Believe it or not, both offensive and defense linesmen are selected in the first round of a draft as much as quarterbacks and running backs, that is how important they are.
While the film 'The Blindside' is supposed to be a composite of many football players, it probably leans heavily (if not totally) on the life of Larry Allen. There was another parallel story on an earlier player but I can not remember their name now. Oh well . . . You get the idea.
Just so you know, it's often times hard to find highlights of offensive linemen. That position group is often unheralded, except in the draft. The fans often times don't understand what's happening in the trenches, because it's a game within the game. The offensive linemen really play a separate game then the one you think about when you think of football. They even have separate play calls (blocking assignments) than the one that's announced by the QB in the huddle that are called by the Center at the line of scrimmage. The only time the offensive linemen have any publicity if if they mess up, or, as in this case, on the rare occasions that they get to do something athletic. Also, offensive linemen, particularly Left Tackles, will be highly sought after in the draft. There has been a few drafts where Left Tackles were drafted first over all, and many more times that offensive linemen have been drafted in the top five. The NFL coaches and front offices know how valuable they are.
The only people watching offensive lineman during games are former offensive linemen, former defensive linemen or family and friends of offensive linemen.
About a month ago I recommended you view the movies, "The Blind Side" and "Remember the Titans" which are both based on true stories. True Americana. They deal with social and racial issues by using high school football.

So that’s Larry Allen?
No that’s a burger y’all kill me 😂😂
😂😂😂
GED is High School (age 15 to 18) equivalency for those who have difficulty in high school.
How the fuck does a dude that didn't play football until 11th grade, end up running a 4.4 40 at over 300lbs? Crazy talent
Napa Valley is Norther California, north of San Francisco.
Napa Valley is in California, a famous wine area.
While the film 'The Blindside' is supposed to be a composite of many football players, it probably leans heavily (if not totally) on the life of Larry Allen. There was another parallel story on an earlier player but I can not remember their name now. Oh well . . . You get the idea.
Definitely, thanks for the comment!
The Blindside was about Michael Oher. The book the Blindside was about Micheal Oher.
Napa Valley Is known for its vineyards like wine making
Makes sense, thank you!
Now you need to do KTO the craziest NFL athlete ever. Herschel Walker
Napa Valley is California's Rich Wine farming/making area of the state.
RIP Larry
I suggest you guys put NFL Big Guy Moments on your list. Thanks!
You should watch Mike Alstott he is one of the best fullbacks that has played.
When you say guard I thought you were saying God lol yah guards and tackles are offense and defense is 2 tackles a nose guard and defensive ends
I heard "god" as well, and even as a washington fan thought, "yeah, fair enough"
😂😂
Message me if you guys have any pressing questions. Coach at high levels. Always love teaching the game.
Highly recommend more KTO videos. His channel is great
Thank you, we do like KTO. Definitely one of our go to creators!
You guys should check out “ America’s game 1976 raiders it’s nuts “
About a month ago I recommended you view the movies, "The Blind Side" and "Remember the Titans" which are both based on true stories. True Americana. They deal with social and racial issues by using high school football.
