@ghostface4404 I can't argue with you that. There is caveat, though. If we're going to split hairs on what's just and unjust, everyone today is guilty as the jedi. Off topic but Mace Windu although he’s one of my favorites it’s fascinating how’s he’s a walking paradox. This man exemplifies both everything wrong with the Jedi while simultaneously embodying the type of mentality a Jedi should have. His rigid obsession with rules and unshakable loyalty to the republic is what diminishing his relationship to the living force compared to someone like Qui Gon however his attitude of seeing a problem and fixing it, insane self discipline and mastery of Vaapad showcase not only self mastery but his lack of fear when it come to his personal path between light and dark. He’s mastered his lower nature and is so mentally unshaken that he cannot be lured to the dark side. His stance in not giving in to the dark is so strong he made an entire lightsaber fighting style that literally flirts with the dark side but uses it for good. Mace Windu’s level as a Jedi mirrors the results of his self improvement but his fearless attitude when it comes to self introspection. In my humble opinion if Windu had time to see the error of his ways and gained a relationship to the light side like Qui Gonn he quite possibly could have been 2-3 times as powerful. As a matter a fact of majority of the entire order embodying Jedi like Qui Gon Jinn or Plo Koon Sidious no matter the prep time would NEVER have succeeded. Qui Gon had such a humble and deep bond to the force he lashed out and killed a random creature simply because it’s what the force wanted in that moment. It left a young Obi wan confused but I’m telling you lol….things really could have been different. This may seem like a very strange comparison but hear me out…if I could compare it to someone who is a Christian Mace Windu would be that Christian who looks at you with arrogance or self righteousness because you made a mistake or missed church while Qui Gon would be the type of Christian to give you the shirt off his back if you told him you were cold.
Very great take you made here it maybe a little off to say but I can definitely see Mace Windu as being a representation of Old Testament people's in terms of his discipline in contrast to Qui Gonn's in his more New Testament approach to the Force! I feel this could be done with other Jedi to though with other Faiths as well since many of them have interesting perspectives in terms of their own relationships with the Force!🤩🤩🤩
Palpatine used the Republic against itself, so that the Jedi could not stop him without appearing to stage a coup, thereby legitimizing the purge as a seemingly necessary response. It was the perfect plan.
Not only that but in the novelization he selectively recorded audio of him being attacked to make it look like he was assassinated by the Jedi. Which he than would have made sure got into the hands of the press. The evidence that the Jedi killed the kind, honest, and selfless chancellor palatine in cold blood would have lead to the Jedi being declared enemies and hunted down...No matter what happened the Jedi were fucked.
This is GREAT point of Mace! Windu was completely right. Palpatine has so much power.Senate,courts,politicians. Everything. Palpatine was right in a way. Jedi WERE planning to do this. I think it would happen like you described. Unimaginable, brutal civil war. Palpatine needed to play the victim first. May the Force be with you too😊
Both were right but palpatine was playing this to the public 0:01 as if the Jedi were planning to take permanent control of the senate whereas the Jedi only planned to take control long enough to ensure a peaceful transition of power
@@jakealter5504 yes,and he turned that into so the jedi wanted to take permanent control. He knew everything that was happening, how much support he has. And striked first
Bro Qui-Gon would be devastated if it comes down to it and his heart will drop if Anakin was destroyed by Mace cause Anakin was in the way for Mace to destroy Palpatine
while Palpatine’s ultimate goals were self-serving, his observations about the Jedi's position and the potential dangers of their power were not entirely unfounded, especially when viewed through the chaotic lens of the galactic conflict.
Considering that they never tryed to use that power to take over but only to keep peace shows that his observations were wrong. The only reason they interfered, this time was because a Sith had gotten into a position of power in the galactic senate and done so by not only hiding who they truly was but by making the need for them to be there. Thus, while they did attempt to overthrow the galactic senate, it was to remove someone who didn't belong and let actual democracy be back in charge. So Papatine was never right about the Jedi he just either lied or manipulated things to make people believe what he said was true while hiding the truth, not just about himself but why the Jedi came for him.
Yes, Palpatine used it to destroy The Jedi in downfall. He saw things from a Sith perspective and from that angle of view was right too. Certain opinion were wrong like Yoda's.
@ThePa1riot Right. You can't use the Jedi's continued involvement in the clone wars as reason why Palpatine had a point. That is literally galactic level gas lighting.
@@ThePa1riotDidn't Dooku already notice negative elements before Senator Palpatine? Sith of course studied them and caused major downfall, but before it, wasn't it in a period of decline? They ignored the Sith, despite many various Sith groups were operating in the Galaxy. And they left a Padawan train Jedi chosen one with uniquelly high potenciál instead some of the masters like Yoda. People like Luminara Unduli suffered pathologiies like a member of a cult and not mystical order etc.
The Jedi were lost when they put Republic law above the will of the force. They lived under and served the Republic. When the Sith took the Republic the Sith took the Jedi.
The jedi had lost this war when they lost Qui-Gon. He was one of the few remaining (if at least the loudest) of those who stood against the councils decisions, especially when it came to their dealings in politics. I dont remember the exact comic this comes from, but Qui-Gon once had a discussion with Yoda about his worry in being referred to as "a great warrior" because he knew that's not what jedi where ment to ever be. If he were still around, I'd like to guess he'd want to advise a jedi conglomerate to work with the separatists. Not as a military advisory in any sense, but a moral one. Where, through them, a peaceful coexiatence could be better attained, atleast for a time
.True; Yoda was wrong about many things and no one was able to call it out, but that's realistic when you're leader is a 800 year old space wizard. Most non space wizard leaders don't take feedback well.

This slant on the story has always reminded me of the fantasy books, Dragonlance. Balance was a big thing. Even good, too much 'good' gets corrupted. I read those when I was so young and it stuck, then the prequels happened, and I was like, shit! This is really similar to Dragonlance!
His biggest mistake was asking permission and bringing Anakin along. If he set himself up as a Sacrificial Rogue Jedi than he could have saved the Republic. Hell if he didn't have Anakin with how close he was to Palpatine he would have won.
@@violentxrp he came up with the whole plan to take over and scapegoat the Jedi... So of course he was right... He planned it so it would happen that way.
Yoda said that following Mace Windu's advice would end the Jedi Order but not listening to him caused not only the ending of the order but also the death of all but a handful of Jedi. Between two choices I'd choose the one that kept all my friends alive.
Mace was 100% right about Palpatine though. Mace's biggest problem was waiting for Official Permission. He could have gotten a few Volunteers and then sacrifice Windu as a Rogue Jedi. Claim he fell to the Dark Side.
Holy Sith imagine if this was the plot of ROTS! To be honest, Palpatine wouldn't even NEED to capitalize on Anakin's nightmares of losing Padme in order to make Anakin and the Jedi enemies. Nor would he need to reveal his identity as a Sith Lord. Because as we saw in the movie, Anakin outright HATED the Jedi Council for forcing him to spy on Palatine, and considered it treasonous. If the Jedi attempted to overthrow Palpatine, Anakin absolutely would turn against the Order in order to save the man he saw as his friend, father and mentor figure. After everything the Council had done to him, from not saving his mother from slavery, lying to him about the Rako Hardeen situation, giving him a Padawan only to take her away from him, and never trusting him and always treating him as an outcast and pariah despite his loyal service to the order, this betrayal of Palpatine would be THE LAST STRAW. From Anakin's point of view, the Council took his mother from him, they took Ahsoka from him, and they forced him to hide his love with Padme. But THEY WILL NOT TAKE PALPATINE FROM HIM! And with the sheer amount of rage he would have towards the council (plus with encouragement from Palpatine like was the care in the Dooku duel), Anakin would not hesitate to use the full power of the dark side against the Jedi. Master Windu of course would be the first to fall to his blade. In the end, the Empire would still rise. Emperor Palpatine would rule the Galaxy, with Anakin Skywalker as his right hand man.
On the one hand, I'm a bit surprised that they would use Mace Windu that way, after taking the time to establish certain "elements" of Ki-Adi-Mundi's backstory, but I do feel that it was important to show this spread throughout the Jedi, and Council, and to have it be someone of such high standing. Vapaad drew in the dark side, and seeing the future, but incomplete, could falsely direct many Force-users down poor paths. At the end, though, I can appreciate when they let Palpatine use that greatest of weapons; the truth, even if it was a "fact" he subtly put the Jrdi on, over years of manipulation.
Honestly this is what brought me back around on the prequels. I didn't like the prequels, not because of most of the reasons people my age do, but because I just thought the plot was thin. The dichotomy of Anakin sort of being right when he says "from my pov the Jedi are evil" was a brilliant plot by George.
man this is great info for a story for a mace windu solo show explaining how he is still alive and did not care to return to the jedi order because he lost faith in it
This is really interesting because it shows that the council didn’t always agree on things like we see in the movies it also perfectly shows why the Jedi were corrupt
It clouded Yoda's judgment even more. Yoda was what allowed Palestine to rise to Power. He pulled Jedi out of Politics, but it was this that allowed Palpatine to become Absolute Ruler. Hell he knew about the Corruption and Evil in the Senate and did NOTHING
He’d of surpassed Palpatine. He was already a better fighter than Palpatine as a Jedi. Anakin would’ve needed to realize his full potential to defeat darkside Mace
The fight between Sidious And Yoda should of been way longer and them fighting on a equal playing field mostly with force powers telekenesis, force shields, force barriers, force bubbles, force reflexes, force balance, force pressure points, tutiminus, flying, lightning, force shouts to more damaging degrees, telepathic battles, etc yeah.
This is a nothing burger... Of course they were very curious about whether or not palpatine would give up control and if he did not then obviously they were prepared to do things to balance the government again. Sidious knew this, so even if it was propaganda or not, the situation was going to work in his favor. Now if they had been plotting before palpatine gained any power, then this would actually be something to talk about. Sidious had plans that were counter to what the Jedi wanted, but he had the backing of the government, so it instantly created a scapegoat in the Jedi.
That epiphany brings a whole new meaning to what Palpatine said: - It's treason, then. Being a man of contingencies, he likely predicted the Jedi choosing treason was likely to happen.
Not sure how loyal to Palpatine the Clones would be when it frankly looks like Fives responded to finding out Palpatine was behind everything by trying to shoot him in the face. There is a reason he has to use mind control ships to pull off Order 66.
My only problem with this logic is that the Jedi would not necessarily become “dictators” just because they took over the senate in order to prevent the Sith controlling it. That’s a whole conversation, but I do think this logic is exaggerated.
Hey stupendous Wade I just would like to say you gave me an idea that I think you should bring to Star Wars Theory I got a what if which is what he used to do maybe there should be a story about a possible Jedi Civil War you know what if Palpatine did get arrested in the Jedi tried to overthrow the government I think that would make a fantastic story and and between you in theory that would be dope well if not that's cool too May the force serve you all hail the empire have a good day guys
Oh the New Jedi Civil War would be so dope to visit. Places like Ilium or Dagobah would not be safe. The Jedi would develop new tactics specifically tailored to fighting saber/force wielders. The Inquisition would be a force to reckon with.
While I agree with your assessment about Windu being somewhat premature prior to Anakin’s revelation, I feel like you’re making a huge leap about Windu’s intentions beyond the removal of the rot at the head of the fish. deciding to remove Palpatine after learning that he’s in fact the Sith Lord does not necessarily mean that he intends to supplant him personally or even with the Jedi council. It’s hard to imagine that the Jedi would install themselves permanently. I suspect they would try and stabilize things as best they could, provide proof about what happened, and then hold a proper election for a new chancellor.
They say the best liars tell the truth. As for what would've happened if Mace arrested or even killed the Chancellor. I believe both would've still resulted in the destruction of the jedi and the republic. The only thing I'm not quite sure about is whether or not Anakin falls to the dark side or not. I'm certain he'd inevitably end up fighting his fellow Jedi, but as we all know Anakin wouldn't entirely disagree with the Jedi taking over as he expressed is views on democracy in episode 2. However Padme would surely object and any move made against her would be met with extreme prejudice from Anakin.
If Mace killed Palpatine in his office all they would have had to do was show the Holo recordings of his fighting the Jedi and with complete access to his office they would have found enough ample evidence of what he was guilty off to sway the Senate in their favor.
@@JohnU1515 Ok, to counter that is the fact that the senate itself is corrupt. If by some miracle the Jedi were given time to investigate Palpatine thoroughly how much dirt on the government do you think they'd find? Quite a bit I'd imagine, they'd be arresting senators, judges and military personnel left and right, exerting more control over the republic. Of course the corrupted officials wouldn't give up without a fight, all it takes is one smooth talker to point out that they Jedi are basically leading a witch hunt (although a just one) and are maneuvering themselves into the same position palpatine was in except instead of a dictatorship it's more of an oligarchy. Then bam, the war breaks out again
Eh, Mace was gonna take the Senate over from Palps. Old Pruneface was the only one Mace was against, or at least him and all the corruption. But it was him and his actions specifically that drove him to such extremes. I'm no Jedi fan but even I have to admit it wasn't all on him.
Lots of people insist that Windu's flirting with the Dark Side via his use of Vaapad was unimportant because they insist that he was fully in control and not vulnerable to the Dark Side. Yet, what we see of him is often uncompromising, agitated, even angry. All of which Palpatine was aware of and, combined with Yoda's rigid dogmatism, were what allowed him to manipulate the Jedi so effectively. Windu grabbing some buddies and going to Palpatine's office in the middle of the night, without even bringing any camera drones to record the encounter, or any members of the Senate to act as witnesses (not even allies like Padme or Bail Organa) was what Palpatine *wanted* and used to create his narrative to the Senate. Reimagine what would have happened if Windu had quietly deployed camera droids outside the windows and beamed footage of Palpatine using his powers during the fight in the office. The Senators would likely have freaked out that Palpatine had secretly been a powerful Force user all this time. They would have panicked at the thought that he might have been reading their minds all along. Perhaps even controlling weak-minded aides and military personnel. That evidence alone would have have shifted their opinions greatly. But Windu could only think in terms of aggressive action. Anyone who did not share his thoughts on the situation a priori was not to be trusted, so he didn't bother.
Didn't the Jedi overthrow the Pious Daya when they were in control of the Republic and didn't they have a Jedi Supreme Chancellor(s) for around a few centuries? I get this info from Geetsly's History of the Republic UA-cam video. I may have my info mixed up, but if this is lore/canon, then this would not be a complete surprise to me.
Has anyone wondered, with the description of how worried Mace Windu was, and how ready he was to go after Palpy, if the dark side was affecting his thinking, amping him up to the point of going off like he did, half cocked. Is it possible that Palpy was using the dark side to manipulate him into doing exactly what he did, so that Palps would have his excuse to move against the Jedi? A form of plausible deniability in the court of public opinion. Just a thought.
“Destroy the Jedi, this would” is Yoda speaking of the extrajudicial assassination of the Chancellor who may or may not be under the influence of the mysterious Sith Lord. (The same that they see pulling the strings of the CIS.) killing a politician without due process is completely against the Jedi Code. It was only when Anakin informed Windu that Palpatine was he himself that very Sith Lord that Windu acted immediately, and the Galaxy at large would have taken it as completely justified had he succeeded. I’m suspecting that there would be some sort of holo surveillance system that would have captured the whole encounter with Palpatine, pulling a red lightsaber and cutting down 3 Jedi in an unnatural savage manner. They’ll see him deploy his force lightening and watch as it fries his own flesh. They’d still see the yellow orange rings in his eyes as his true identity is unveiled. If for whatever reason there was not any Holo evidence there would still be three of the best Jedi duelist lying dead. The Jedi would probably have to recover Palpatine’s lightsaber for evidence in that case, if I remember correctly it flew out the window when Windu disarmed him. Shouldn’t be all that hard for the Jedi. They’d be able to prove beyond reasonable doubt that Palpatine was the Sith Lord. I image through thorough investigation there would possibly be things that confirm Palpatine was manipulating both the Republic and the CIS and basically manufactured a war that ravaged the galaxy to empower himself. If Windu succeeded renewed he’d be a hero to the republic and reverence and admiration for the Jedi would spread wide across the galaxy. Only corrupt special interests and greedy politicians/elites would likely have much a of problem with Windu’s heroic actions. As for Yoda I’m sure he and the rest of the council would praise Windu more so than they praised Obi-Wan after he defeated Maul in a, shall we say, less-than-Jedilike fashion. After all , as strictly as the Jedi adhere to their code, Jedi don’t deal in absolutes so even that has its limits in their eyes.
I can understand Why Mace Windu wanted to Finally End the war as quickly as possible, but he ended up acting with Too much haste and Arrogance and in the end that Haste cost not only him but the WHOLE Galaxy.
Palpatine: You see, Anakin? I told you the Jedi were corrupt. Anakin: I... You're right, master. I think the Dark Side is better. Palpatine: Goooood... Gooooood.
Well Mace does admit it among the other masters in Revenge of the Sith so...we do kind of know this already, but it's implied as a temporary measure till a new chancellor is elected. A good question is would the senate have actually just amended w/e their constitution was to re-elect Palpatine or maybe they would have chosen someone more moderate, who also sympathized with the CIS? 🤔
I think acting on Windu's suggestion would've wounded the Jedi in the end but they would've succeeded and the Jedi would've taken over but not as high officials, it's more likely they'd temporarily enforce martial law to investigate Palpatines involvement and connection to the sith and all of his co-conspiritedors and have them all arrested then it's more likely they'd reinstate the senate and suggest Padme or Bail Organa or even Mon Mothma be nominated for the seat of supreme chancellor someone they can trust, they'd discover the inhibitor chips in the clones and aniteyate a program to have the clones debugged. If it failed the Jedi aren't idiots they'd still plan ahead to move the order to a hidden area of the mid rim to be in a better position to spread throughout the galaxy and build temples in the inner and outer rims of the galaxy to put themselves in a position to exploit what they've learned from the failure and to launch a preemptive strike against Palpatine with fleets of clones and venatars they debugged and to reinstate the Republic after Palpatine transitioned it to the empire.
To me, it seems like the only way things could’ve worked out better is if Palpatine were somehow taken out by a third party or by accident and the Jedi didn’t interfere with how the senate chose a new chancellor. But perhaps I’m missing something that this unlikely scenario would have in store for everyone.
Palpatine wasn’t wrong tho the Jedi were corrupt maybe not by the dark side but by politics this also explains why Anakin in his perspective was convinced that the Jedi were traitors to the Republic and that they were willing to bend the rules as they saw fit to overthrow the Republic such a conspiracy like this is why Palpatine was able to manipulate Anakin and turn him against Mace Windu and the Jedi aside from all the years of being held back by the Council and denied rank of master that is, such a treasonous act was enough for Sidious to turn the Jedi into a scapegoat making them out to be enemy of the state an action made by Mace Windu which of course backfired due to Anakin joining the Sith
with the situation at the time the republic did need some drastic changes, but i think mace might have been getting dangerously close to the darkside himself at the end
Organa would have sided with the Jedi. He did not agree with many things Palpatine was doing. He was appalled with some. And already knew the Jedi were in a terrible situation. Padme likewise had been privy to undercurrents and awful impacts. I wouldn’t assume she would be so easily bamboozled in the end. Her relationship with Anakin would seriously complicate things but don’t count her out.
Mace couldn't call for a secret council meating. That one would've actually implicated the councill. If he acts alone he implicates only himself. Palpetine being a sith makes the entire plan pretty clear. Create a war, play both sides, being the republic down from inside. Especilly if you considerd it before, but it's either way obvious. It's obvious Palestine has to go right now, that the senate wouldn't listen to Jedi concerns like 'sith-lord' seriously. At least not quickly. It'd be a very long political game. Who the winner isn't clear of. But a winner is clear if Mace kills him now. And if Mace then let's himself be tried by the Senate that's probably the best move [and he was, I think]. The councill won't be implicated, because they wear previously against it and not informed. The order might take a hit, but it's going to be fine long-term.
If we entertain for a minute how the fate hung in the balance and it was not Mace that fell out of the windu, but Sheev. Immediate action would have been called for. I do not think the jedi would take over, they lacked the means to do so. Even the emperor needed the senate in his first years. To govern the republic the senate was instrumental, there was no other bureaucracy that could have been relied upon. But there were emergency protocols that could be enacted for the case that a supreme chancellor was incapacitated. An emergency session could elect a replacement. And that would have been it. The jedi had no more means to govern the republic then Palpatine had. The senators would still be running the state as they had since 22.000 years.
What’s legal is often based on what feels right in the spirt of the law . Unless it’s international law or what most international law is based off ancient Roman law
Sidious was a master manipulator, setting his elaborate trap over many years. The whole decadence of the senate, the corruption along with the bureaucracy, put the Jedi in a very bad situation. He succeeded in portraying the Jedi order as a cult that wanted to rule the galaxy! Even if Mace managed to capture or kill Palpatine, I don't think that the Jedi would rule as dictators. This happened in the past, there were various Jedi serving as supreme chancellors , but only for a specific period of time . But, the public started to see them as the enemy, due to Sidious ' supreme machinations! There is no better manipulator and plotter than Sidious
This is just a theory but is it possible that because of the lightsaber form that Mace Windu user's that with that slight opening to the dark side that Palpatine was able to feed Mace the idea of over throught Palpatine and the Senate and by doing so corrupting Mace and by extension the Jedi Council.
isn't it intriguing that the Jedi became the very thing they were trying to protect everyone else from? Fear of losing their status, their relationship with the republic became their key motivator. Poor indecisive leadership from Yoda . If Windu had acted and failed, the Jedi simply claim he's gone rouge. He wins he prevents order 66 and Sidious loses. But due to fear of what ifs, fear of losing status the Jedi were frozen, thus resulting the a paralysed Jedi Order tinkering on the edge of the darkside. Instead of being bold and doing what they knew to be correct they chose to do nothing, out of fear.
Mace Windu would have been a better Sith lord then, Palpatine. Mace would be more calm and collected, and he wouldn't have put up with Anakin shenanigans🤣🤣🤣!!!
There is no greater weapon to a populist then a believable half-truth. But i think the message in Star Wars was always that while the Sith are mostly wrong and the Jedi mostly right, neither has to be.
Honestly Mace has a little bit of Qui-Gon in him. Only difference is Qui-Gon would have simply acted without the support of the council

F me,thats almost as long as anakins thesis
Brilliant assessment. I love the comparison between them and the church. It is very on point.
It's called legalism. Good take!
@@eviesholettethanks!
Anakin I told you it would come to this I was right the Jedi are taking over- Palpatine 2005
Booo palatine boooo give up your power to someone else you've stayed in office as chancellor far too long
This is GREAT point of Mace!

He wouldn't have liked it at all and would have tried to prevent it.
@@patriciahayes2664he wouldn’t have stopped them going after palpatine though
while Palpatine’s ultimate goals were self-serving, his observations about the Jedi's position and the potential dangers of their power were not entirely unfounded, especially when viewed through the chaotic lens of the galactic conflict.
You mean the one that HE caused?
The chancellor being controlled by a Sith lord was in fact the original Sith plan. Palpatine simply decided that he didn't need Plagueis any more.
In that original plan the chancellor would’ve still been a Sith even with plagueis being a shadow chancellor
We need a Palpatine movie in the style of the original House of Cards.
Indeed. 👌👌

This just shows the depravity of mace. I’ve always said he is that lawful good paladin that is so devout they don’t see themselves becoming evil.
Mace was beginning to deal in absolutes...
His biggest mistake was asking permission and bringing Anakin along. If he set himself up as a Sacrificial Rogue Jedi than he could have saved the Republic. Hell if he didn't have Anakin with how close he was to Palpatine he would have won.

To be fair, they only tried to take control because the sith had been making sure the senate was corrupt
Great channel nice to have a drama free channel to go to. I know nothing about this guy except he knows alot about star wars and makes good content.
while yoda is my favorite character Mace was wiser in this moment, even tho they were truly already doomed
Hubris, my friends. The Jedi had quite a lot of it; I definitely believe this 💯

Anakin help me , The Jedi are taking over….
man this is great info for a story for a mace windu solo show explaining how he is still alive and did not care to return to the jedi order because he lost faith in it
The jedi may have strayed from the light but Palpatine/Sidious was still the greater of two evils.
Similar to how Jedi master atris in kotor fell to the dark side. By trying to preserve the Jedi at all costs
This is really interesting because it shows that the council didn’t always agree on things like we see in the movies it also perfectly shows why the Jedi were corrupt

I 100% agree with you
Trying to impress us with all the obscure Force abilities you know of?
Now that you mention it, even the novelization by Matthew Stover suggested that their fight was more Force based.
Sidious had plans that were counter to what the Jedi wanted, but he had the backing of the government, so it instantly created a scapegoat in the Jedi.
the conflict was a byproduct of his grand strategy,to weaken both the Jedi and Separatists and establish a new Sith Empire 🤔
That epiphany brings a whole new meaning to what Palpatine said:
- It's treason, then.
Palpatine has so many fucking similarities to a certain president

My only problem with this logic is that the Jedi would not necessarily become “dictators” just because they took over the senate in order to prevent the Sith controlling it. That’s a whole conversation, but I do think this logic is exaggerated.

But he was right about Palpatine. I see no fault. The force was speaking through them. They didn't listen. And for their folly, they were annihilated.
The crazy part is that Yoda and Obi-Wan, the people who disagreed with him, were off world when Sidious revealed himself to Anakin.
Eh, Mace was gonna take the Senate over from Palps. Old Pruneface was the only one Mace was against, or at least him and all the corruption. But it was him and his actions specifically that drove him to such extremes. I'm no Jedi fan but even I have to admit it wasn't all on him.
Even if Mace Windu had succeeded and Anakin was never there assassinating Palpatine would have instigated civil war within the Republic for the worst
Mace would also realize Palpatine wasn't just a Sith, but the entire Senate, and his power was unlimited.
This is why I love the novelization.

A "what if" story: If Windu kills Palpatine, then he represents the dark side from then on.
There's a great fanfiction that goes into that. Fall of the sith by Souderwan
If Mace survived, it would only make sense that the surviving jedi would resent him for his actions, costing the republic and jedi order
Palpatine drove the Jedi to act as they did. He just used their laws against them by carefully placing the pieces in their way
I can understand Why Mace Windu wanted to Finally End the war as quickly as possible, but he ended up acting with Too much haste and Arrogance and in the end that Haste cost not only him but the WHOLE Galaxy.
Palpatine was right he is always right he saw it coming and that’s how he planned his moves three steps ahead of the Jedi
You should do reading for the novels
with the situation at the time the republic did need some drastic changes, but i think mace might have been getting dangerously close to the darkside himself at the end
I have access to the restricted section of holocrons.

Yessir you do!
I shouldve known the Jedi were plotting to over -Darth Vader
Mace Windu was a fool. Poor guy! 🥶
