Oh, this brings up many youth-memories. I'm German and actually from Düsseldorf, and me and many of my friends were big fans back then. The first album I heard was "Autobahn" and it blew my mind immediately, as the sound was completely new and something never heard before. It is hard to describe, what it actually means to hear sounds in music you have never heard before. The location of their studio was a very well kept secret. However, there was a big cinema very close to their studio, which we went to frequently (Europa-Theater). As they spend loads of time in their studio, leaving only late at night, they were actually a common sight. It happened multiple times, that they just walked by, while we were waiting outside the cinema until the entrance time to some movie. Later, in early 1980's there was a famous club also quite close (Bhagwan-Disco), which we also went to quite frequently. We often went outside to a car of a friend stuffed with drinks, as drinks inside were too expensive ;) You saw them even more often. At any time, we were to shy to approach them and try to talk to them, as they were kind of music-gods by then. Their music still sticks with me today. In 2017, the Tour de France started in Düsseldorf and Kraftwerk gave a concert in a park right next to were I live today. Got to see them there. People without entrance just sat outside in the park or blocked nearby streets and listened. The show was incredible. Kraftwerk never ages, which is astonishing. Too bad, Florian Schneider recently died. Rest in peace and thanks for opening my mind purely by music.

Cool story you shared! Loved it ❤️
I love these stories. I reckon you`re in your forties or maybe fifties?
@@ScorchedEarth-cd5cl rather uncomfortably close to my sixties - I am 57 by now :)
@@virtualinfinity6280 I`m 52. I envy you to have lived then and saw them in real life.
and electro was born
Nothing is older than yesterday's future, but this album is still of the moment!

The very best drum beat of all time
R.I.P. Florian Schneider.
Man... these songs take me back to middle and high school and ‘the gang’. Soundtrack to my youth..... Love to ALL from The Heart of Carolina.
Es wird immer weitergehn Musik als Träger von Ideen!
Einfach Genial !!!
i listen to that til release. i never met vocal processing in such art since then. what a blessing to have witnessed that.
play this on my funeral
God I love this album!
Lightyears ahead! Still! Pure funk!
Wunderbar!!!
This sounds a bit creepy somehow, but also really really good
Happy memories!
I'm noticing that the full german versions of their albums are getting blocked by youtube
I assume they're being restricted to Germany, Austria, and Switzerland only.
This is really bad, it's like that on Spotify too. I absolutely HATE listening to Kraftwerk in English, it's so unnatural
