Most underrated band ever!!! TRUE pioneers of electronic music, amazing producers with most tasteful use of live instruments 2! Been a die-heart fan for 25 years :)) Still as relevant today as ever, that's what REAL talent IS!
Underrated, totally. In electronica, which begins after the second world war and nobody noticed, the first significant (opinion) artist is Wendy Carlos-1967. Things proceed and develop predictably until the next big step -- which is The Art Of Noise. By that time, 1980-ish, sampling was a concept in development (notably in Australia) but the total package does not really mesh until 1983 -- the key being a conceptual one where 'thinking digitally' informs the sound production process -- regardless of the actual format the media imposes on the music. That is why Art Of Noise is singular. No, not the only ones doing it -- but like Columbus -- though many had been working in the same arena, once AON did it no one had to invent it/blaze a trail again.
Rest in peace on of our dear Queens. We will always remember your incredible music. When I graduate PhD and the University of KwaZulu-Natal I would like Yebo, this song, played. Such a celebration of life.
Ten years old, it’s 1990. Family vacation to Amish country and I have the AON discography on cassette blaring from my Walkman the entire trip. Memories aside, great to finally see this video!
I completely agree. I was excited to hear this album after hearing IVS but i was kinda disappointed for some reason. Looking back at it now it was just another chapter in the AoN story and this is a SUPER album from start to finish.
Imagine this as the theme of a show about SAAF (South African Air Force) fighter pilots, their Atlas Cheetahs roaring across the horizon of the African plains.
The Art of Noise were "up and active" in about the same timespan as Devo. It's certainly possible, but I think they both derived their influences from different avenues.
John LeDuc Jr no. A type of African music called Amandla. Amandla is an African word that means power. Amandla music was played during times of threats of war and tribal conflicts in ancient times and even still today. they sing and dance andthrow a big feast for the would be enemies in the hopes of avoiding war. its very cool 👍 but this song itself is about fucking
I like this song. I don't know the meaning. I was told this is Zulu African dialect? I love Africans and the African dialects. I heard this song while watching Mukhtar Gusengadzhiyev do his stretches. Is it weird that I added this to my video game grinding music playlist? I feel like dancing to this too.
Hey Greg. That's a legendary performance. It was on UA-cam a few years ago but later taken down. Is it possible that you might have a digitized version of it?
Whoah, I haven't heard this in DECADES and it was only fluke I saw this video. In retrospect I'm surprised I didn't figure out it was by Art of Noise way back when.
This song makes me proud as a South African. However, let me help those struggling with the lyrics and translation. Niyezwa lezintombi zakwa Zulu (do you hear Zulu maidens) nithinina zinsizwa (what are saying gentlemen) ziyasina ziyagiya (they are ululating, they are dancing) jabulani (rejoice) jabulani bo (rejoice) ziyagiya izintombi zakwazulu (they are dancing the zulu maidens) awubheke ziyaphephezela (just look as they float in the air) ziyagiya izintombi zakwazulu (they are dancing the zulu maidens) ziyagiya ziyagiya (they are dancing, they are dancing) izintombi zakwazulu (the zulu maidens) ziyagiya ziyasina x 3 (they are dancing, they are ululating) phephezela x 2 (float in the air) yebo x 3 Olala x 3 RIP. Fan fact: I am from Slovakia and we have similar words to "Yebo". We write it "Jebo" and it means "F.cker" or "P.ick". Please, beg my pardon. Anyway, this song is great! Greetings from Slovakia..

also in their imagery and visual art style
I will never get tired of this song. EVER. Especially the full 7 minute version on the album.
I have been a fan of Art Of Noise Since I was a kid back in the 80's. Damn they make some good stuff.
Rest in peace on of our dear Queens. We will always remember your incredible music.

Such a celebration of life.
I was 3 years old in 1989. I wish I could have listened to that music more consciously back then. But hey, I can still listen to it now!! Great song.
Same here...
Below the Waste has always been my favorite of their records!
To think this colab was in South Africa's darkest days.
Brilliant tune 🇿🇦👌🏽
But better days were about to come soon.

This whole album is such a masterpiece ! i always wondered why it never got the attention it rightly deserves.

This song is sick AF. I heard it last year in burning man 🤙🏽
Seeing the new Grammy category in 2024 for African music made me think of this song.
Ice Cube's Dangerous Ground brought me here when his character returns to Africa in the intro of the movie .

Still fresh as I first heard it during an entrance into the arena by Baby Jake Matlala. What a glorious moment that was...Yebo!
The noise is ART
Превосходно! Живое всё!
my favorite version of Yebo!💕👍
С 90 лохматого года искал . Нашёл и кайфанул , в хорошем
смысле этого слова
THis track is about 50 years ahead of anything anyone else has done. Art of Noise is still the bomb..
@@expat1432 I was living in 60's , 70's , eighties and so on. Kraftwerk is one living legend , Art of Noise another. Two different phenomenas.

my song back in summer 1989
This track gradually grew on me towards the end
i hear and see an extremely strong Devo influence on the song and video

"Yebo!" is mainly based on "Masimbabele" by The Unknown Cases. I love both songs.
escuché esta canción en un programa de televisión de Álvaro bultó en los 90 y la encontré en 2021.

I'm back to add a few more love and likes for this song 🎵 💕 💗 ❤❤❤❤🎉😊
una canzone che rimarrà nella storia
Bravissimi!
Am I the only one who imagines this song being an awesome opening for a South African cop show?
Yeah, why not?
Alexander Rowley i love this song
Shades of Glen Frey.
Actually, it was used in the opening credits for the 1997 movie Dangerous Ground starring Ice Cube
