The last year of great Cadillac engines for awhile.
The 425 was made from the same block as the well-loved 472 and venerable 500, not as drilled out for fuel economy's sake. Its one of their best engines ever. I had a Winnebago that had one transplanted in the mid 1980s and lemme tell ya, losing the 440 in favor of the 425 was the best thing that ever happened to it, aside from the deep steam cleaning I gave the shag carpet LOL.
Very nice I would of preferred it in canary yellow with matching vinyl top not white, but still it's very nice👍

My mom bought a new 1979 Cadillac coupe de ville in this exact color she drove it until 1985 when I turned 16 and she gave me the car with 27 thousand miles on it I still have the car today with 67 thousand miles on it I will always keep this car
Looks like I owned it; the interior not showing wear on armrests or door panels. That's how I've taken care of my cars & motorcycles since c1979. Nice Caddy!

My parents bought a custom ordered 79 White landau Coupe DeVille. Beautiful powder blue leather interior and loaded. They drove it until the mid 80s then that was given to me as my first car at 16. I was so proud and they kept it garages and immaculate with just 55,000 miles. I loved that car. No trouble at all up to a little over 100,000 miles. Few cars will do that today except Lexus.
My first car was a 1979 Cadillac coupe de ville when I was 16 years old in 1985 I still have the car now I love that car
And even when it starts that big block knock its a pretty easy overhaul. My '77 Sedan had it when i got it and the rebuild was rather painless all things considered. I'd drive that car anywhere, anytime, at any hour of the day.
It mostly falls on how the cars are taken care of. Most people do little, if any maintenance & typically forget they're due. My new Caddy's OnStar sends me a monthly Health Reports on everything from current mileage to each tire's pressure.
