It looks like the same gyrocopter from another video I saw a few weeks ago. It was flying aggressively and whoever was recording the video thought they were going to crash. I wonder if it's the same one.
Illegal and dangerous in many regards. Seriously endangered persons on the ground. § 91.303 Aerobatic flight. No person may operate an aircraft in aerobatic flight- (a) Over any congested area of a city, town, or settlement; (b) Over an open air assembly of persons; (c) Within the lateral boundaries of the surface areas of Class B, Class C, Class D, or Class E airspace designated for an airport; (d) Within 4 nautical miles of the center line of any Federal airway; (e) Below an altitude of 1,500 feet above the surface; or (f) When flight visibility is less than 3 statute miles.
@@DroneOnArizonano license but a shit ton of regulation just the same as a drone, and there are plenty of drone pilots that shouldn’t have one either so your point is not valid.
I’m wondering if we’re gonna find out this was yet another gyro pushover incident. From the looks of that footage, it wouldn’t surprise me. I’m a fixed wing guy and I know the stuff my RV-12 will and won’t do…the stuff it won’t do, I don’t come within a mile of it. If I was a gyro pilot, the last thing I would EVER do is flirt with a zero g pushover
They autorotate during the whole flight, except when they experience negative G, then the rotor will lose rpm and lift, and they will crash. The rotor is not driven by the motor, but by the air moving upwards through the rotor.
It was over quick! Prayers to the family, RIP Brother! Reminder to self, stop thinking about getting into Gyroplanes! Retired after 42 yrs in Rotorwing, IA and A&P! Have seriously considered "in retirement" to get into gyroplane's, but have seen far too many meet their end in these aircraft, just that the risk far outweigh any benefit! Yes, this happens in Aviation across the board! But the Gyrocopter has an enormously high accident rate, I realize that is mostly due to low time, inexperienced guy's getting into the market. But as my FAA PMA once told me after leaving the shop, he had an appointment later in the day to issue an airworthiness certificate on a freshly built gyrocopter just down the road! He said he didn't know why he was wasting his time because every gyrocopter he has dealt with during his career, the owner was killed in it, he said they might as well take up Russian Roulette for a hobby! I'm beginning to agree with his assessment! 🫢🙏
This was pilot error. But that is part of the problem. Gyro pilots just thinking it's such an easy aircraft to fly, sometimes you get into a situation that's unrecoverable
It looks like he was pushing the limits of that gyrocopter. Its not a Blackhawk.
Screwing around over the airport like that wont make you any friends in the traffic pattern.
Sorry but reporters nowadays are beyond terrible at their job 👎👎👎
They all need to be shut down!!
Why? What did she do wrong?
No need to exaggerate the story. ,Expolsion, Smoke, flames, dark smoke’….in a span of 5 seconds…its not a war zone.
It was a low altitude crash.....happened at about 0 feet AGL.
Flew right into terra firma... 🤔
Other than midairs all aircraft crashes are “low altitude “ crashes.

I saw that.

Yet my toy level Drone is regulated to death.?
If you think your drone is heavily regulated, just try getting into experimental aircraft...
Well, the operation of your drone is regulated, to keep it out of the way of aircraft.
A part 107 license to fly a drone for anything other than recreational use. But nothing to fly ultralight aircraft. Makes no sense.

Hot Dogging = Hot dogs served. Pilot attitude. Not the 1st gyro getting wrecked by careless attitude.
Cannot unload the rotors… :(

With that footage available, the NTSB is going to have some pretty good leads.
Is this the same pilot doing aggressive maneuvers on a different video from a few months ago?
I know this is over said but, there are old pilots and bold pilots but there are no old and bold pilots.
The story is of an old bold pilot.
People bring it upon themselves. I just don’t understand
"I'm not one of them hot dog pilots. I'm the hot dog man himself".

What happened? Was there a crash?
Pilots must know their limitations and abilities if they want to fly another day...
Rep Vickie Paladino is spot on this... Thank God!
WTH?? He is doing hard banked turns dropping to just off the deck in a gyrocopter?? This guy had to be on drugs.
Another hard over stall at low altitude
Another dangerous pilot gone!
RIP
More of a splat than a boom.
Where is the crash video? You call it news?? Joke!!
CFIT
Seeing the way he was doing aerobatics at the airport grounds there's going to be some rude awakenings for the airport's controllers from the FAA.
Uncontrolled airport.
Can’t they autorotate?!
That is the normal mode of operation!
Not when they're upside down
If you push the nose down, the wind stops the rotor and it falls like a brick.

Man that helicopter isn't even done made as yet, Rip man.
Miss reporter, you’re 90 years old. Please retire and give someone else a chance…
What a vile thing to say. And in any event she does an excellent job in my opinion.
Leave her alone you should appreciate a veteran with experience over some young reporter that just wants to be on tv to be an influencer
Won't need much of an investigation. The key word cause of the crash is "Gyrocopter." That's all they have to see.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Any type of craft will kill you if you exceed craft limits and pilot skills.
This was pilot error. But that is part of the problem. Gyro pilots just thinking it's such an easy aircraft to fly, sometimes you get into a situation that's unrecoverable
All aircraft have a certain level of danger, even if the pilot is doing everything right and not hot dogging it.
If you are an AI or A&P, get a store bought helicopter like a 269 or 300 Hughes.
